It beggars belief that the Tories will suddenly want to elevate the profile and well being of the working classes and the unemployed. Their policies always favour the few at the expense of the majority.

So can somebody tell me how thing are going to be better. What is actually going to happen ?

Some people on here want to get rid of Brown, and Labour, but their reasons are usually shallow and lack any real discussion about the policies of the party that will replace him. Hence we get the moronic 'bottler' threads.

I would give a Tory government about 6 months before you will see a mass of threads on here**ging them off when the realisation of what it means becomes apparent.

Why do people think they will be better off under Cameron?

They don't.

They just know you can't keep throwing money away like Brown has.

Most on here know Cameron will be useless.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE ' PEOPLE ' THINK ?
Report Injera November 17, 2009 4:28 PM GMT
Do the 'working classes' exist anymore? It's a patronising term anyway. The 'working' man has never had it so good. I speak as one.

Now there's a discussion.. As for the unemployed, I doubt he will cut their benefits so no problems there.

One thing DC will not do is squander our taxes on the Public Services and spend money he hasn't got. That has to be a start...
Report Ivor November 17, 2009 5:31 PM GMT
I certainly don't believe I would be 'better off' under Cameron - I certainly think our countries would.

Why do people think that they will be better off under Cameron

Because if labour's policys were any good they would have worked by now.
Report Lampus November 17, 2009 5:50 PM GMT
It was the tory bankers who nicked all the money
nothing to do with labour at all
the nasty bankers gambled to get bonuses
it was a win win for the tory bankers
lost all the money , they got millions in bonuses, and a labour goverment gets the blame for it
and let thier party the nasty torys into power
Report Ivor November 17, 2009 5:53 PM GMT
ahem - the labour government LOVED IT!

bring back hanging starting with child molesters and bankers.
no on second thought torys and bankers, then child molesters and premeditated murderers.

I'll be better with Dave in charge because Gordon Brown no longer will be. It's really that simple.
Report nathanrh November 17, 2009 8:22 PM GMT
I'm unlikely to be better off no matter who wins.

However under Dave I might have just a small chance of preserving the value of my fairly modest hard-earned savings.

If Brown wins, I'm withdrawing the lot and lumping it all on an even money shot.
Report flushgordon November 17, 2009 8:28 PM GMT
the argument on preserving savings is complex as inflation although increasing intrest rates will increase your dividend, it also inreases the price of basic goods ,
Report Early Morning Riser November 17, 2009 9:10 PM GMT
if the tories get in INFLATION will shoot up follwed by your morguage payments, food bill, heating etc. got help us
Report NEARCTIC November 20, 2009 9:11 AM GMT
high inflation, high interest rates and almost 5 million unemployed

that is what cameron will bring the country, he will be ok with his £30 million in the bank though
Report DonWarro November 20, 2009 9:14 AM GMT
these things you say he will bring - they are inevitible - regardless of who takes office. what do you think would happen if labour pulled off the miracle victory - the exact same thing i've no doubt.

Bottler & Co will leave a disasterous economic legacy.

'The OECD said that Britain would have the biggest deficit in the developed world not merely next year and the one after, but all the way until 2017, unless it took

lord ashcroft probably taught him how to do it

Report DonWarro November 20, 2009 9:41 AM GMT
savo i am anti nl anti tory and anti the lot of them. fact is uk will be like cuba not long from now. life under cameron (although really i mean life under the eu since parliaments power will be more limitted) will be no more pleasant for you than anyone else, because it is going to bring massive civil unrest. he will have to slash benefits so all those on welfare etc will be coming after you and me in desperation. not going to be pleasant imo.
Report supersavo November 20, 2009 10:15 AM GMT
Don - you are probably correct on the civil unrest angle. to what degree that happens is unknown really.

But, ( and i am definately not saying this is a good thing ) the authorities have never been better set up to control the population, CCTV everywhere, police expert at controlling large demos now, even if they have to kill a few, surveillance of internet, landlines mobiles etc, plus god knows what they have up their sleeve if it really kicks off.

Personally I,m lucky to live in a location with very little crime and i cant see that changing anytime soon.
Report DonWarro November 20, 2009 10:57 AM GMT
you are right you are lucky. of course to control the situatio they will be restricting the freedoms of everyone, you included.

and re them being in the best position possible to deal with it - perhaps consider that a) they knew this was coming, and b) they drove us here through policy.

re cameron and the conservatives, anyone seen the dispatches episode btw with regard to the british isreal lobby?

There is no doubt that after the election most people will be worse off, but that has little to do with Cameron.

Unfortunately for him, some people will be stupid and tribal enough to blame him though. EMR is either stupid or deluded, I've a fancy for a win double.

PS Cameron wont be much good, he's far too centrist and cautious

Labour bankrupt the country and the Tories clean up the mess. It has always been this way
Report Ivor November 20, 2009 1:28 PM GMT
I think the Tories government have very little room to move on benefits, nonsense labour gifts will end, non-essential expenditure stopped. Their most important attack on the debt will be entirely tax related. They will do it right away - early pain easing back in later years neatly ahead of the next election. I also hope he dismisses all PM questions with total contempt, a practice started by Bliar and continued by Brown.
Report bazzar November 20, 2009 3:58 PM GMT
These dishonest, incompetent NEWlabour politicians are so bad that they WILL lose the 2010 election and have only themselves to blame, mores the pity that we poorer voters will be the ones to pay AGAIN, divide and rule has been the motto of the rotten tories for centuries, so why have NEW labour deserted their natural allies, yet they tell us that they believe in god, but lie and ** just as good as the tories, this was NOT why the LABOUR PARTY was formed,
there was a statue outside the TUC building, depicting a man giving a helping hand to his fellow man, all has been submerged under greed and criminality.

bazzar,
How true, the Labour Party created by the unions to give political power to the working man, reduced to a mainly self serving bunch of people who look down their noses at the unions and working people and bend over backwards to get a cheap headline in the Daily Mail etc, organisations that have opposed every piece of legislation to the advantage of working people the Labour Party has ever proposed.
