Yes, why am I paying nearly a fiver for people who didn't insure themselves? £1m to 1300 houses in Cumbria, ffs.

If anyone should ** off somewhere else, it's clearly people who live in flood risk areas.

But did have the foresight to look at the Enviro. website and not buy one in a silly place.

Evil greedy speculators, imo. Could afford a reasonable rental but wanted to buy to speculate and had to buy a cheap one in a flood area.

Its not as if we havent had enough warnings of climate change warnings of doom ? Would it not be a good idea for a government to get its act together to invest in flood defences instead of MP's expenses, bank bail outs and illegal wars ?
Report armchair jockey wilson!! November 22, 2009 9:10 PM GMT
these are not speculators you waN kER ..they are ordinary families who have never lived anywhere else!
Report gas_panic! November 22, 2009 9:24 PM GMT
Better to speculate than fill greedy landlord's pockets.

With these flood warnings and how they are made to tie in with the present global warming headlines, we were given a flood warning
for people close to the river Irwell, so I looked over the bridge parapet to witness for myself as to how high was the river.
I witnessed with some disdain that I had seen the river at least 12
feet higher especially when aged 11 and had to traverse the normal bridge I took to school because the river was at least 12 inches overflowing the bridge and I only had shoes on.
On another occasion the parish churches graveyard was washed out by a raging Irwell and a dead cow was swept downriver, yet a warning had not been given on either occasion, they were much more fearsome than todays swollen river warnings, but there was NOT a global warming threat being reported, but it would fit in with this governments policy of governing by fear, 1984 and all that.
