I think that a hand written note is the least that the family of a fallen soldier can expect. If Brown's eyesight is as bad as supposed then it would be wise in future if he got somebody to give it the once over. Just in case.

it appears he can hardly see at all. you try reading with one eye closed and the other one squinting. if anyone's to blame it's the people around him but presumably he's done hundreds of similarly poorly handwritten letters of this nature before and this is the first complaint. don't get me wromg ii think he's incompetent as the next man but he'd been badly done to here and this misconceived personal attack may rebound spectacularly on the sun.

I am not blaming Brown at all for what he wrote. Hats off to him for writing the letters. Yes, he should have probably got someone to read it. Yes, he should have taken more care.
What gets me is that he can't apologise properly. The world would think him a bigger man if he simply said he was sorry for not taking sufficient care in writing the letter. But he can't. He makes excuses about his handwriting and suggests that he hasn't made any mistakes and people can't read his writing properly!

She is attacking Bottler in the strongest possible terms. She has not withdrawn her claim that her son might have lived had there been a helicopter available to transfer him to receive the required medical treatment.
Lt Col Thornelow, the highest ranking casualty so far, made the same point about helicopter shortage 2 weeks before his death. H e made his point in an email to the MoD.
Bottler has promised an independent enquiry into this soldier's death. If the helicopter shortage claim is supported, this will confirm what many already believe - that the PM and various Defence Secs have routinely lied to the Commons and the country about the provision of adequate equipment levels to our forces.
