Seems like a good idea, any chance it will be implemented?

only if the banks can figure out a way of passing it on to their customers (plus of course 30% for their trouble in collecting it)

I went to see the London leg of Mark Thomas' "The Manifesto' tour recently, and the Tobin Tax was the night's adopted policy.

A great idea.

All of the legs of that tour seem to be in London. I do wish the excellent Mr Thomas would bring his message up north occasionally.

The Tobin Tax is a brilliant idea, which is probably why bankers and governments are so cautious about it. GB hinted his approval at the weekend, but there's no sign of moving towards implementation.

The tax was originally proposed in 1971 by Nobel Prize-winning economist James Tobin as a means of reducing speculation in global markets ,according to the DailyTelegraph .
