The weekly Betfair Community Tournament briefly went missing for a few weeks due to a clerical error.

It is back and will be EVERY WEDNESDAY at 8pm UK time.
Next week (7th September) the password will be

Huzzah (case sensitive)

The password will change every week.

John Tabatabai will be appearing as a bounty in these tournaments when he is available and  when advertised. (It will be in the same thread as the password)

Joker, have you met any of betfair staff?

I find that most people who come to the defence of betfair have met the staff and therefore do not want to rock the boat where freebies are concerned.
Report Ovalman. August 3, 2011 5:43 PM BST
I can't see any damage done?

Tonight's game is a $250 added freebie, maybe you shouldn't play Annie if you feel so strong?
Report chipfire227 August 3, 2011 5:47 PM BST
In defence of BF poker PR, his job title gives some indication of what he does for a living. At present he is acting as a conduit for unhappy customers griping on the forum who wanted the password changing.

The issue was raised on here at 20:58 last night, I picked it up when I got home from football at 22:23 and emailed him, he then made the effort to rectify the problem within an hour which he did. Yes it should have worked in the first place, but this is at least an example of people communicating to solve a problem.
Report annie. August 3, 2011 5:49 PM BST
It is just that they make mistakes all the time, Ovalman.  If it was the odd mistake fair enough, but they did not put on the tournie for two weeks 'due to a clerical error'  Shocked  The mind boggles as to how this could be a clerical error.  Is no one there?  You have met betfair staff as well, haven't you Ovalman?
Report chipfire227 August 3, 2011 5:57 PM BST
People on here wanted the password changing every week. That was relayed to PR, who then had to send off a request with a list of passwords for upcoming games. Someone at the other end put in next weeks password instead of this weeks.

Which makes it a clerical error. As has been said it's free money and the bloke is doing his best to make it into the tournament people want.

And for the record I haven't met him, and I suspect, like me, he doesn't play it.
Report annie. August 3, 2011 6:16 PM BST
How come you are going all soft on betfair recently, chipfire?  You keep standing up for them, it is not because you are talking to betfair now and going to meet him and all of betfair is it?

Clerical error - but they are always making errors.  If you just read all of this thread  then you will see that others think it is a joke, not just me.

And the bloke is  doing his best to make it into the tournament people want

You talk like he is doing this for the love of it, he does get paid to do this you know.  And he has had months and months to get it right.
Report Ovalman. August 3, 2011 6:33 PM BST
I've been with BF Poker from the start Annie and yes I've met several of their staff. I want things to work for them as they've been good to me with the promotions in the past. I don't like it when things go wrong but I try to be constructive with my criticism instead of sticking more nails in.
Report annie. August 3, 2011 7:05 PM BST
But the nice approach has not worked, Ovalman.

We have been saying for years how bad betfair poker is, but no one has taken a blind bit of notice.  We have given 'constuctive' criticism for years and it has not worked.  Maybe because there are several on here who do not want to rock the boat because they have been invited to betfair's freebies.  If you take all them out of this forum you would be left with those like me who despair at how bad, really bad they are at managing anything.
Report NickFiickTheOriginal August 3, 2011 7:20 PM BST
The good news is that the password works but sometimes even if you type it correctly it still says wrong password.

My advice is always to make sure you backspace to the start of the box rather than as sometimes cursor actually is in the second character space when you start.

Jesus wept ! How is trying to get the password fixed for you "going soft" all of a sudden ? You moan when its not changed every week, you moan when someoneelse cant log in, then you moan when it's fixed within an hour. You moan because a bloke whose job is in PR is in a nightclub welcoming poker players.

You moan constantly about how crap this site is, yet you still play on it.

I've never had a betfair freebie in my life and to be blunt, if thats your way of saying thanks for trying to sort something, then next time I wont fking bother.

You have got a lot wrong, chipfire.

I did not moan about changing the password each week, I did not moan about someone else not being able to log in, I did not moan about it being fixed in an hour, and I did not moan about him being in a nightclub..  Get your facts right.

What I did moan about was why when they changed the password they did not immediately think of changing the announcement.  It is common sense, no?  Mistakes like this are being made all the time, but nothing is done about it.  And why should a forumite have to tell betfair that they have got it wrong for the umpteenth time, should not they notice it?

Report annie. August 4, 2011 1:55 PM BST
The point, Joker, was that if the wrong password was just a one off mistake then, of course, a thank you and move on would be the correct response.  However, betfair takes mistakes to a new art form, constantly getting things wrong, so in this instance it would not be the correct response.

Annie - in the nicest possible way - Leave!
I watched Betfair make mistake stacked upon error stacked upon c0ck-up for years and only stayed because the crumbling site offered the softest games on the net, frequented by the congenitally clueless.
Even as rampant cheating was allowed to go unchecked by the poker department, ( I don't think anyone there played poker), it was still a doddle to make money. However, the sequence of error - apology - error - apology finally got to me and I left. Then, I found a whole new and pleasant world out there. Hard to believe if Betfair is your only contact with the outside world but there are sites out there who care about customers, who do what they say they are going to do and who do everything they can to stamp out collusion and verbal abuse in the chatbox.
I urge you to give it a try.

Report Pandorica August 16, 2011 4:39 PM BST
Incidentally, apologists are a basic requirement.
At least they are for an organisation that have to constantly make apologies. Betfair clearly understood this as they moved to get a couple of characters onside.

Thanks, Pandorica  Happy

One of the reasons I still play on here is because I bet on the sports side.  I also have not found my poker game of choice, still experimenting with mtts, stts, cash, no limit, fixed limit, pot limit, omaha etc.  When I have found the one I am least bad at I will be off like a shot as I can then generate a newcomer bonus elsewhere.

I think betfair should abandon ongame, there is too much wrong with it.  They should go with another skin or maybe purchase full tilt software.  There is also the problem of the non existent and just plain wrong customer service.  I have just started playing mtts and asked them about rebuys.  I have found that the reples they gave me were just wrong - how can that be?

I do play on will hill, so I do know what a site should be like.

Oh ... the Manchester United fan not from Manchester motif. Bright. Original. Witty.
From Manchester, currently on the wrong side of the Pennines for what its worth - which isn't very much.

I'm sure Annie can speak for herself but why on earth should she feel she has a vested interest in what Chipfire does or doesn't do? If she rings up the site for advice re poker tournaments then that advice should be forthcoming and accurate. There should be no need for anyone else to be involved in any way shape or form. The fact that others are involved in this abortion of a site is testament to how far Betfair has sunk in the poker world over the last 3-4 years. The reason Annie can't get accurate answers to questions posed to the poker department is that they don't have a clue. They don't have a clue about tourneys being run, or about rules, or about how online collusion operates. Forumites hammered away at this point for months and months and nothing visible was done. To my knowledge a former pro player and poker TV presenter stopped playing on Betfair because of that very issue.

On the upside, I'm sure the staff are exceedingly cheap.

HF added his comments on Monday, and these have now been sent to the six different heads of department that attended for any further comment.

The full doccument should be available on the forum by Friday morning I believe, with a full list of deliverables attached. Obviously if BF fail to deliver within the 3 months then the meeting was a complete waste of time.

Obviously some people have made their mind up already, which is their prerogative. Both HF and myself had to take a day off work to attend (unpaid in my case )and the only gifts accepted from BF were a dietcoke on my part and I believe HF had a hot chocolate. Bit of a pisser under those circs to find folk in agreement that we are chancers and apologists, but there you go.

he keeps doing well from week to week ... im not surprized chip
Report chipfire227 August 25, 2011 10:40 AM BST
He/She plays a lot of pots and is very aggressive, and getting aa 3 times that i saw, and kk twice, in the later stages probably helps.

It's a good tourney for a low buy in, and with 250$ of the 575$ being added by the site very good value. Hopefully with the improvements planned for September it should start attracting  more runners and a bit more reward forthos who play it long term.
