I emailed to ask what the new SKILL & GO formula ment, this is the pointless reply I got......

***************************
Thank you for your e-mail.

Kindly note that the formula introduced on the web page under the Skills and Go promotion is merely further proof that this Leaderboard, not only takes a players amount of wins into consideration, but various other aspects to.

What it should suggest, is that the Leaderboard will calculate player skill levels, amount of entries and performance - finishing position, number of tourneys and finishing positions.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

Kind regards,

Lionel Galea

Please can you explain what the formula means, that can be understood by someone whos not a Maths professor!!!

would b nice to know what score u get for each positin in each type of game and each stake.

would also b good to know if cashing in a don counts as a 1st place or 5th, it just says cashin in any posistion scores the same.

looks like it will b trial and errorfor a few weeks to try a work out how to maximise scores.

Good Evening all,

Firstly, after an extended hiatus... BetfairTourneyMGR is back!

I see the new SNG forumula has raised a few eyebrows [smiley:crazy]

It's late so I wont go into it in too much detail about the ins and outs and it's merits, and plus I am by no means a maths expert.

With those caveats in mind, basically, the 'base score' part of the formula looks at the type of SNG you are playing and the buy-in, and the top part then 'boosts' your score based on your finishing position. Concessions are awarded for higher stakes play, however, this is to account for the lower number of daily SNG instances at higher stakes, this concession is not intended to be to the detriment of lower stakes players.

Essentially, The formula should level the playing field and give a modestly low-volume but skillful $1 player as much chance of winning a prize in the leaderboard as a nosebleed SNG player (relative to number of tournaments that start per day), or a mega-volume rakeback grinder.

I've probably over-simplified that but in essence giving all players an equal chance is what we hope to achieve, and we are confident of doing so. In test runs against real data, seven of the top 25 players average stakes were less than $5, and out of the top 10 places only three players had an average stake of more than $50.

Perfectly understandable based on past experiences if you're not totally convinced by our word, so for those not convinced I can send you an excel calculator that will enable you to work out your score for any given SNG, finishing rank and buy-in level... or would a simple table on the website be better?

If you would like this to recieve the calculator please email PokerPromotions@betfair.com and put 'please send me an SNG calculator' in the subject line, and I will reply with it as an attachment on or before Friday 3rd June.

This queue is unmonitored. Unsolicited emails will go unanswered.

Good night.

Hi BF_MGR, I played in the Champion's League games last Friday where 10 winners got a share of $250.

I finished top 10 of the Barcelona game but as yet haven't been credited with the $25.

Not sure which of these i.d.s was the Barcelona game I played but it's one of the 3.

see below.....

Dear Sir/Madam

As per the response of our Poker Team, please note that the Skill and Go formula is broken down into two parts which can be thought of as the Base Score and the Skill Boost. In simple terms, the 'Base Score' part of the formula looks at the type of SNG you are playing and the buy-in, and the Skill boost Boost formula then further increases your score based on your finishing position. Concessions are awarded for higher stakes play, however, this is to account for the lower number of daily SNG instances at higher stakes, this concession is not intended to be to the detriment of lower stakes players.

Essentially, the formula should level the playing field and give a modestly low-volume but skillful low stakes player as much chance of winning a prize in the leaderboard as a nosebleed SNG player (relative to number of tournaments that start per day).

In essence, what we are hoping to achieve is to give all players and not the few an equal chance of winning a prize in the leaderboard, and we are confident of doing so.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further enquiries.

Kind regards,

Daniela Spiteri

looks like based on first weeks scores we need to b playing 50 dollar game upwards seeing as 4 of top5 play these stakes mainly.
Report Thrac June 10, 2011 2:53 PM BST
I find something about this leaderboard very odd. I had about 1,2k points after the first day (maybe more but not less). Now after 6 days I have 2,2k points. I played a fair amount all 6 days and ran pretty good.

Another thing is people with 1/3 of my poker points have more points towards the sng leaderboard than me.

Maybe I miss something about the formula.

Is it too late to ask for that excel calculator?

Cheers
Report wingdings2 June 10, 2011 5:09 PM BST
I found the same Thrac.

Got a lot of points on day one compared to hoew much I played and then hardly any thereafter.

One day I played about 8 games and got no points at all.

At least it was easy to tally your points under the old system. Have no incentive to play stt's now.
Report gnashersblackpool June 10, 2011 5:48 PM BST
ithink its something to do with average  profit per game compared to stake so playing more doesnt overly help increase your score unless yer roi improves, but i might b totally wrong.
Report NickFiickTheOriginal June 10, 2011 6:54 PM BST
I asked for a calculator and got one sent. Input every game into it.
Total score according to their calculator was 3535.55. Which would put me 7th for $200
Not even close to my 2071 and 22nd and $50

No doubt there is an explanation and either the calculator is wrong or it excludes certain results or averages them. If same for everybody that's fine but I cannot see what's the point in asking for a calculator, getting it, inputting everything and getting a different points score.

I played rubbish anyway all week.

Whilst you are finding about the calculator. When are you going to put the winnings into our accounts?
Or are you still checking/verifying?
Report BetfairTourneyMGR June 13, 2011 9:10 PM BST
Good Evening All.

Firstly, please accept my sincerest apologies for the on-going issues with the Skill and Go leaderboards - this is currently being looked into by our data provision team.

Whilst checking/verifying last week's final leaderboard with my trusty calculator it became apparent something was amiss, and on that basis payments for last week have had to be postponed until the data has been verified, as well as updates for this week's leaderboard. I can assure you that every emphasis is being placed on ensuring that a fully verified result for last week and updates for the current week are published as soon as possible, as well as processing outstanding payments for last week as swiftly as is humanly possible.

Unfortunately, I can’t give you a definitive timeframe on when this will be resolved as we are reliant on our data team identifying where the issue lies, correcting it and then re-running the leaderboards. This is being treated as a top priority and I would hope that this will be rectified tomorrow although, as I say, I can't make any firm promises at this time.

Apologies once again, and may we take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding shown thus far whilst we try to get to the bottom of this.

Best regards,
