Despite improving since 2008 it is clear that the everyone has improved so much it is difficult to grind out results. This in turn does test your motivation and although I still play a fair amount I for one do not enjoy it as much as I once did. The improvement in everyone has meant that winning flips and 60/40s are so much more important. Can't we all just go back to 2008??
I started in 2006 playing small stakes. Here are my profits year on year.2006 - $2,5062007 - $1,0272008 - $71,4602009 - £3,1232010 - $21,528Despite improving since 2008 it is clear that the everyone has improved so much it is difficult to grind out r
You're trying to suggest there was such an improvement in poker that you went from 71k to 3k , despite improving
More likely is you donked your way to a big score in 2008 thus distorting the picture.

- And is still playing now - not neccesarily on Betfair? - Are you still excited/interested in the game ... - and why?
1) Yes Im still playing now and started around the middle / end of 2004 on a small scale as a hobby until i won my first tourney as Greekgod on William Hill (£700 for first, £10 buy in). After my first few wins I thought I was the poker gods of poker gods. I was also signed up to Betfair around the same time under alias Enigma-
2) When Betfair went independant, I was totally hooked and could not play any other site (basically I could not adapt to different software). I totally struggled to play anywhere else but now days I can handle playing on most platforms although I really dont like Boss Media and Poker Stars from a graphics aspect.
3 & 4) In about 2005/2006 the hobby very quickly became a blinding obsession, possibly to a level where it was a disease. I raked and played heavily as a mtt player and stt player. I acknowledge now, that i was a typical "greek donk" (although i didnt know it at the time).
At the time, I climbed in stakes and was regularly playing $200/$400 stt's and - $1000 HU games with smokeski styled bankroll management.
I was a very marginal winner and showed a Total profit around about about £6K/£7K but only because of rakeback. I was raking about £3000 a month for a year. I thought I loved poker then - after a disasterous 3 month phase in late 2007 (where I blew about £14,000) - I went through life tilt moments on each and every bad beat.
An example of my obsession was winning the 18K on a Friday night (Saturday morning), bagging $4800 and by Sunday afternoon, having to RELOAD my account.
That all changed with the birth of "The Klup". Spackers pointed me in the right direction with the simplest piece of advice "to go down in stakes". As the klup, i did just that. Had a 6 week break, came down to $20 buy in levels and repaired the damage. I won more consistently and had a run of 17 consecutive winning months averaging $2000/$2500 a month raking about $500/$700.
Everything's improved (im a much more complete player now) but most importantly I have a better family life balance
Admittedly when i started focusing more on being an affiliate (about 15 months ago), I lost huge interest in playing and some might suggest I lost my touch - but I totally know and knew I hadnt, it merely was that i was playing "fun" poker for laughs.
However following an ear bashing from thrappers a few months back "playing fun poker for laughs" has been done away with, so when I do play now, I am more serious about my game and can see from results since that ear full from the g4yer that is thrappers, that I still have what it takes to win. (Im up about $15K in the last four or five months)
Nowdays I more wholesomely "enjoy" playing poker much much more - but no longer care about playing (if that makes sense). In the past, I had to play all the regular tourneys, just incase i missed the game i would have won. Now I realise, I am capable of winning any game, on any given day.

1, I had 4 five figure scores in 2008 and probably 30+ four figure scores. So no I did not donk one big win 2, in 2009 I hardly played as I was.using my well earned scores to travel for a year 3, I would say the more sensible comparable would be 2008 and 2010. Of course I ran good in 08 b beliebe me it was so much easier to close out tournaments on ongame back then
Maybe you should.put your profit/losses up so we can analyse, and a scrern name to back it up

i have been playing poker since 2005.... played sit + go,s, cash, and mtts after yrs of reflection.. multi - tabling MTT,s is the the best way to make profit at poker!
sit + go,s... the return on investment is to low
cash ... the veriance is a killer and very tuff on the mind
the downside to MTT,s is the time you need to play in each session (all night into early morning)

yes was there in 2004...maybe earlier infact. had dips over the years of loving and hating the game but never thought about giving up.. left bf about 18m-2 years ago and have since returned here a few months back.. have now dedicated myself to plo, rather than nlhe which i now find slightly boring but will say that the game of nlhe does seem 'easier' to me or should i say 'easier to understand the finer points' since playing plo..that may sound funny but it's how i feel... always had a good job and never relied on poker as a living...so no pressure like others.. started in stt and mtt's but can only play cash games now.... never been good at heads-up and firmly belive i never will be...

Erm..................................................weasey!!!. I've been playing on here since 2006/07....making a loss but more of a hobby now as i rarely see the same player twice. Much prefered the old b/fair, stronger competition, bit more commeradee, smaller field entrants, rose tinted glasses maybe, but the truth. As i said previous Klup........Chelsea M, Ivanteacher, Bullet A, Doobs,......................Enigma.

still playing after all these years , why because i need the money , get excited about it , the day you don t try to play right you get eaten alive , has the game changed to a certain level yes but as an mtt player you always have to keep adjusting your game to table image is it harder possibly , most worrying thing is the decline in player traffic everywhere and have never managed to get staaars to give me a steady income use to get it off betfair , now of ipoka and still get the nice touch on sta**s but no consistency
