Hi guys - i got some insight that Betfair could be looking to do a little forum promo to give away two seats to Betfair Live London.
I was thinking we could have a team event. Two man teams - and it could be either a four game series or a one off game.
If a one off game, we could say that whoever wins the event, gets the package for his team.
Thoughts and comments please :)

If it's Betfair adding the prizes and us/ you running it, why not have a similar tournament to the last community forum games? It doesn't have to be much but Betfair could add a few spot prizes like they did before like the bubble milestones and bounties.
The rebuy tournament was fun so I'd like to keep that.
It keeps it simpler than forming teams and half the team goes AWOL yet gets rewarded for not playing.

Players / Teams declared in the forum by say 18 January. Once we know the teams, we can set up a game with a $5 buy in and a $2 rebuy (with password). The game can be played on Monday 24th January.
Maybe having the deadline much earlier than the game showing in the tournament lobby will help prevent those who look in the lobby from leeching off the forum game just because they saw it in the lobby. Thus forumites are more likely to benefit that way.

if you make it every man for himself the entire world will want to play at the last minute and make a million and one excuses for not registering an interest sooner on the forum.
personally i'd say 2 man teams, drawn on a set date, with no entries for stragglers once the draw has been made. otherwise you will just get random people seeing the game in the lobby, coming here for the password and demanding to be allocated to a team. once you accept one late entry you have to accept em all.

i like your comments chipfireball... i think forumites declare interest by a set date. We upload the names to a random generating sweepstakes site and confirm the teams.

this sounds fun how about 4 games series with half going through each game a $5 buyin with the buyins making up the prizepool for final game with the tickets plus money up for grabs no paired teams so if u win u get to take who u want

the bigger you make the teams and the more games you play the more complicated it gets. and, as has already been stated, you could end up with a situation where one member only plays one game and fails to cash but gets a seat, wheras someone who has played 4 times and final tabled 4 times doesnt get one.

a ticket issued to the list of people who have pre declared an interest would stop any problems with the password

im more in favour of a one off game to be honest. We are talking about 2 x $400 tickets and to host 4 games waters down the value IMHO.

Its got to be 2 man teams as there are only 2 prizes and I support the random teams idea
agree with gnash, for those of us up north that would need to arrange travel and accomodation its better if its played as a one off asap.

Hi, I like the idea of two man teams with a cash entry/prize structure....and on a Sunday night in a one of game.
Personally I'd prefer to select my own team mate, as there's more chance that both players will play on the night and it makes travel/accommodation

think a one of game with teams 2 picked randomly with a buy in for a prize pool sounds about right

Although two team mates cannot truly influence an mtt game unless 3 left and both still about imo.

Live tickets are transferable ... but would be down to the respective winners to sort out.
Seats cannot be cash in though - but as there are limited seats, im sure it will be pi$$ easy to sell.
I would be disappointed not to see someone use their seats.

This is why Betfair should run it, straight forward one off free game, first two get a ticket.
Not all forum readers want to or can afford to pay £20 in buy ins for something that Betfair WANT to

Your point is very valid and I quite agree.
My point was I know quite a few fourm/betfair poker players that would never get invovled in these team things because the buyins/prizes are to small and not worth the effort.
Would be nice to see a decent team strucuted event once in a while with something worthwile to play for.Im sure this wld entice a lot of the old regulars back and they then may get a few to even stay.

Reasonable comments Joffy - but in terms of the volume of people interest at higher stakes is much lower.
That said, when I did try to organise another WCWSOP styled team event with big packages on offer, Betfair didnt take it up. Maybe the one i did didnt tick all the boxes for them.
Anyways,as badbeat have just announced DreamTeam VI there is no real window of opportunity to introduce at the moment.

I remember betfairs attempt at the dreamteam lol. Keep trying mate,a decent team event on a Sunday night wld get a bit of interest I think. That night BF have their higher end tournaments on which wld be a perfect night to play as people wld play them also if there on the site.

no - just accounting for commuting times and the need to be at the airport a couple hrs before hand

If you go with 2 man teams then surely it should be an average score of both your places combined to make it more fair and interesting.
Also having rebuys isnt a good idea imo if you are doing random teams as you might get stuck with someone who doesnt rebuy, so should def be a freezout imo

If betfair are looking to do a little forum promotion, Wouldn't it make more sense to offer something that appeals to more people rather than just do a promotion that appeals to the locals and travellers

I will start a NEW THREAD TOMORROW NIGHT once people have had a final chance to respond to my guidelines) and we will go from there.
1) Two man teams - RANDOM DRAW (MOST VOTED FOR THIS) I will co-ordinate this on easysweep.com and we can watch the live draw on Thursday 20 January at 8pm!
2) Game to be played on a Sunday 23 January 2011. 8pm UK time
(Sunday was requested and nobody obected)
3) Players interested in taking part must declare their EXACT poker alias by 8pm (UK Time) on Monday 17th January
3.1) Entry will be by ticket only (to stem the flow of non forumites raiding our value).
3.2) NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED - NO EXCEPTIONS (to stem the flow of non forumites raiding our value).
4) 2500 chips and 12 minute blinds - 6 seater tables
5) Winner of the tournament will win both seats for his team
(if we go on an average score, then first to get knocked out will immediately have removed all hope of winning a seat for his team and then the team mate can spoil the game by going all in all the time as he will have nothing to play for)
6) If one team member does not show / play the freeroll and the one man band wins the freeroll, he will win both tickets and can choose what he/she wishes to do with it.
7) If the winning team actually attends and plays at the London Live event (and dont sell their tickets) I will ensure that at least $300 (£200) is paid to partcially contribute towards expenses. If Betfair dont agree to pay this, I will.

i dont think you can have ticket entry with a buy in. Using a buy in with password will ensure we have unwanted intruders.
If betfair can do a "ticket plus buy in option" then i will ask for a $10 buy in value supported by a ticket.

All sounds good. I'm not objecting at all and agree to everything, you obv put alot of effort to get this off the ground so nice 1. But just wanna point out that it is not stricly true about the first player out making it impossible for thier team to win.
If there was 50 runners and team 1 had a player out in 50th and 2nd and team 2 had a player out in 48th and 40th, team 1 would still obv have the better average score and would win. Average score is the finish of each player divided by numbers of runners (I think)
