Hi guys - i got some insight that Betfair could be looking to do a little forum promo to give away two seats to Betfair Live London.

I was thinking we could have a team event.  Two man teams - and it could be either a four game series or a one off game.

If a one off game, we could say that whoever wins the event, gets the package for his team.

Thoughts and comments please :)

So why don't Betfair run it?? They done good with the Dec one and no 'mates' involved when they run things.

This isn't a "mates" thing. It's a poker forum proposal.

The reason for the post is to try and see what the general consensus is regarding how the forumites would want it structured.

Of course Betfair would run it, but be assured I don't put my friends infront of others when it comes to these sort of things.

As much as I dislike "Abu al mambo Jambo" or "punterz" whatever his name is, I wouldn't entice or encourage his exclusion as they do contribute to the forum discussions and entertainment.

So - this is not a "mates" thing.

Peoples comments about how they would like to see the promo structured would be most welcomed.

How about a one off or a series of MTT's where 2 players play as a team and use the formula from the community game to award points for a higher finish and the team with the best combined score gets the package?

I don't think teams of 2 would work Klup. Especially for Billy nomates like me. I even have trouble getting the missus to play with me.
Could run as forum team games and then the winning team gets a mini game to sort the winners of the package. This could run until end of January.

freebies for betfair london is obviously great idea.nothing to do with fact that i live round the corner.

if it is a team event, i reckon it should be drawn randomly.3 or 4 man teams.

i will be going anyway.cant afford to buy into main event but definetely playing the £30 turbo on sunday.looking forward to meeting couple of the donks i have been donating to for years.

Pairs/doubles sounds fine. Not sure if enough of each for mixed doubles.
Could just randomly pair.
Happy any way. Certainly decent idea for any giveaway promotion.
As for Billynomates I'm happy to pair up with any unwanteds for this. So no need to worry.
Other than I'm not doing well 1 week into 2011. Perhaps this weekend it will change.

If it's Betfair adding the prizes and us/ you running it, why not have a similar tournament to the last community forum games? It doesn't have to be much but Betfair could add a few spot prizes like they did before like the bubble milestones and bounties.

The rebuy tournament was fun so I'd like to keep that.

It keeps it simpler than forming teams and half the team goes AWOL yet gets rewarded for not playing.

OK - how about:

Players / Teams declared in the forum by say 18 January.  Once we know the teams, we can set up a game with a $5 buy in and a $2 rebuy (with password). The game can be played on Monday 24th January.

Maybe having the deadline much earlier than the game showing in the tournament lobby will help prevent those who look in the lobby from leeching off the forum game just because they saw it in the lobby. Thus forumites are more likely to benefit that way.

Winning team will get the tickets if there team was declared in the forum by the closing date?

If people dont like a 2 man team format, it could be any man for himself.

Alternatively we can all put our names in a hat and do a random draw to create 2 man teams (we will use online software like easysweep.com)

OK if it's a team event, take in my points above. Random draw sounds good but as an extra thought, the team that wins has a 25% stake in the winners of the seats, paid out as a freeroll if they cash?

I'm sure it could be arranged?

BTW Klup, if you're attending, I owe you a pint.

if you make it every man for himself the entire world will want to play at the last minute and make a million and one excuses for not registering an interest sooner on the forum.

personally i'd say 2 man teams, drawn on a set date, with no entries for stragglers once the draw has been made. otherwise you will just get random people seeing the game in the lobby, coming here for the password and demanding to be allocated to a team. once you accept one late entry you have to accept em all.

i like your comments chipfireball... i think forumites declare interest by a set date. We upload the names to a random generating sweepstakes site and confirm the teams.

We then have the game put into the lobby. I think we need the game password with a buy-in of say $5 with a $2 rebuy so that the winner of the game also gets some cash as we have been offered 2 seats (ie. not packages).

If one team member does not turn up / play, then maybe we should have a rule that if thats the case, a sole team member wins both seats for himself and a mate of his choice (like me for instance Laugh [;)] ).

1500 starting chips, 10 minute clock and 1500 chips per rebuy, with 2500 at add on stage?

what? random teams suck , why? because you could be paired with some realy bad fish or with a sitout or something like that , so you basicly loose the battle before it even starts , it would be better each team posting the 2 nicknames on the forum and thats that

but my opinion is that every man for himself is better

also 2 man teams means collusion , but by doing this we violate the T&C of Betfair

for people to win a game where its every player for himself - they can play the satelites ... whats the point of having a forum game if it doesnt have a bit of a twist??

Im very open to having people preselect their teams.

this sounds fun how about 4 games series  with half going through  each game a $5 buyin with the buyins making up the prizepool for final game with the tickets plus money up for grabs no paired teams so if u win u get to take who u want
By:

When: 08 Jan 11 21:34
or teams of four winning team gets all tickets   could be a points game over 4 games with a $3 dollar buyin each time with the money making up a prizepool final game to keep people interested

the bigger you make the teams and the more games you play the more complicated it gets. and, as has already been stated, you could end up with a situation where one member only plays one game and fails to cash but gets a seat, wheras someone who has played 4 times and final tabled 4 times doesnt get one.

if theres 2 seats then teams of 2 is logical. whether teams are drawn at random or arranged by the participants themselves is irrelevant really. the main thing is that the teams are all decided and published before the game goes in the lobby, and once it is in the lobby, no more teams are accepted, which makes it more likely regular contributors to the forum get them.

a ticket issued to the list of people who have pre declared an interest would stop any problems with the password

2 man teams ideally, esp as only 2 prizes .
personally, think random teams are better, and needs soring a squick as possible, only a 5 weeks till live comp.

im more in favour of a one off game to be honest. We are talking about 2 x $400 tickets and to host 4 games waters down the value IMHO.

Agreed - a ticket option is the preferred option , my only concern was - we then lose the ability to create a cash pool to compliment the seat.

Do we need the cash pool to compliment? Or are the seats on their own just fine?

Its got to be 2 man teams as there are only 2 prizes and I support the random teams idea

agree with gnash, for those of us up north that would need to arrange travel and accomodation its better if its played as a one off asap.

Two man team to me is spot on with a cash pool added for people
who dont live on the doorstep to pay for hotel on a one off game
then it doesnt get complicated and makes it easier to run.

Random teams for me as stops top players doubling up and gives us all a chance

Hi, I like the idea of two man teams with a cash entry/prize structure....and on a Sunday night in a one of game.

Personally I'd prefer to select my own team mate, as there's more chance that both players will play on the night and it makes travel/accommodation
easier to organise (for the live game [;)].

Might be better on 6 seater tables - to reduce the likelihood of team mates being on the same table?
By:

When: 08 Jan 11 22:33
think a one of game with teams 2 picked randomly with a buy in for a prize pool sounds about right
By:
The Klup
When: 08 Jan 11 22:39
jimmyslightbreeze makes good argument.

Although two team mates cannot truly influence an mtt game unless 3 left and both still about imo.

6 seater with two team players on same table is possibly more risky?

i would recommend making the tickets transferable  [;)]
