I was just looking at the big apple promotion when this caught my eye

Need to know

    * You will earn more PP's playing fixed limit cash games than other games.

I do not understand why someone would earn more points playing fixed limit games, surely no limit would  earn more at the same stakes?  Is there something about essence that they have not told us about regarding fixed limit versus no limit?  I rang betfair and they do not know why fixed limit games should earn more points and they agree with me that they would have thought no limit would earn more.  Of course this was after the usual guiding them through what I meant - why do they never know what you are talking about?

However, they are ringing me back with the answer why fixed limit games earn more points, but not tonight apparently - much too difficult a question for them.  Perhaps the forum would know why?

Come to think of it, if this is the case for this promotion then surely it is the same througout betfair?

If fixed limit cash games reward players with more points, then surely we should be told about it and why this is so and how is the difference calculated.

It is just general advice that you rake more playing fixed limit because you tend to see more flops and therefore contribute to more pots.Nothing to do with essence!

It also says that if you multi-table you earn more points which is not rocket science Annie nor is it a conspiracy theory.

No wonder Betfair customer services are brain dead if people are ringing them up about things like this.

Why do you have to be so rude, Fingerzz?  You could have stated that without being nasty.

However, I think I still disagree with you.  No limit pots are way more than fixed limit and there are usually more pots per hour than fixed limit, so surely that would compensate for seeing more flops?  And this could also be to do with how essence is worked out, so you may be wrong.

And why shouldn't I ring up betfair about this?  I would have thought that you are the stupid one for accepting everything that betfair says as gospel.
Report annie. October 19, 2010 10:36 PM BST
I have just looked at a few rakeback calculators and they both say you get more rakeback with no limit than fixed limit, with the same stakes and games played - so why is it different on this site?  Because of the way  essence is calculated?

Could you also ask Annie how she thinks the essence system would benefit fixed-limit against no-limit in general terms.Perhaps the essence system takes a little rake from a random no-limit hand and adds it on to a random limit-hand?

Could you also tell akabula that if he wants Annie to suck his tiny penis could he just ask her direct and not clog up the forum with his endless bottom-licking.

I am yet to be convinced that you do rake more on fixed limit than on no limit.  You tend to see more flops, but in general you see less games per hour and the pots are smaller than no limit.  Also rakeback calculators say you get less rakeback on fixed limit with the same stakes than no limit.  I said about essence because as they said that fixed limit gave more rake, than maybe essence had a different system with fixed limit as opposed to no limit

It also says that if you multi-table you earn more points which is not rocket science Annie nor is it a conspiracy theory.

I was not talking about this, so why bring it up?

No wonder Betfair customer services are brain dead if people are ringing them up about things like this.

If betfair says I will get more points playing fixed limit when rakeback calculators and the statistics say the opposite, surely any intelligent player would query it.  There might be a genuine answer to this that as a relatively new player I do not know about.

Yes I am a small player, but my rake paid on ipoker is sometimes about $20 a day so I do not rake 3p!  It concerns me because I was interested in the big apple promotion.  I still play on here and would like to play more on here, if they fixed things

Since when did I say that I did not know this?  I know that there is a limit on the size of pot that a rake is taken from.  Again that is not what I questioned.  It seems your replies are just designed to take the piss out of me about things I have not questioned or know the answer to already.

Could you also ask Annie how she thinks the essence system would benefit fixed-limit against no-limit in general terms.Perhaps the essence system takes a little rake from a random no-limit hand and adds it on to a random limit-hand?

I said I did not know whether they calculated essence differently in fixed limit pots, because they said rake was higher.  As we do not know exactly how essence is calculated then it is entirely feasible that fixed limit rake could be calculated differently.  I was just asking if this was the case.

Could you also tell akabula that if he wants Annie to suck his tiny penis could he just ask her direct and not clog up the forum with his endless bottom-licking.

If you repeat again anything like the above sentence I will ask betfair to ban you.  You can disagree with me all you want but I will not stand for the above.

Akabula is lovely, happily married man who at no stage has come onto me at all.  I would hate that posters reading this would think otherwise.  He is just a kind, intelligent man.  Something you will never be.

Could you also offer my sympathies to the Customer Service team and tell them to get the Samaritans on speed-dial ready for when Annie calls next.

The majority of posters on this forum are in agreement with me that betfair poker customer services is not good at all.  There are some good ones, like ED, but they are let down by those who know nothing about poker or their product.

I am still not convinced about this.

Yes, you see more flops with fixed limit but the pots are smaller and you play less games per hour.  I have done a quick calculation, using statistics from your site, and the amount raked per hour  per person at the same stakes is far higher on no limit than fixed limit.  Also rakeback calculators always say you rake more at no limit per hour than fixed limit.

So can you please demonstrate to me, with examples, how on your site you get more points playing fixed limit per hour than no limit per hour at the same stakes?

For the last time, from experience, you pay more rake on fixed-limit than no-limit.Your rake calculators are probably assuming a lower VPIP% but in reality the games are far more fishy so you tend to see more flops.Betfair have obviously looked at their own stats to come to this conclusion.

Also, and please get your head around this,if a no-limit pot is $100000000000000000000000000 and a fixed limit pot is $100 then the rake taken is the same.IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SIZE OF THE POTS OR ESSENCE!

On the big apple promotion the statement you quote by Betfair was in a little section of tips-not their t&c's or the bible. There is no need for you to ring them and its no wonder they did not know what you are talking about because you do not know yourself.

I still play on betfair and I was interested in the promotion, so why cannot ask a question?

For the last time, from experience, you pay more rake on fixed-limit than no-limit.Your rake calculators are probably assuming a lower VPIP% but in reality the games are far more fishy so you tend to see more flops.Betfair have obviously looked at their own stats to come to this conclusion.

There might be more points to be earned playing fixed limit, but the point I was making is that I would like to see the proof of it.  So far I have seen nothing.  I realize that I have only been playing poker for a relatively short time and that maybe I have missed something, but that is what the question was for.  How am supposed to learn about poker if every time I ask a question I get abuse?  It would not happen if it was someone else asking the question.

Also, and please get your head around this,if a no-limit pot is $100000000000000000000000000 and a fixed limit pot is $100 then the rake taken is the same.IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SIZE OF THE POTS OR ESSENCE!

Are you thick or something.  I have repeatedly replied that I did not bring this up and I know that pots are capped for rake.  However, as betfair are stating that fixed limit gets you more points then essence could be a factor as we do not know how essence is calculated then something different in fixed limit could give you more points.  It is maybe unlikely, but could be possible.  Do you know how essence is calculated?  Besides, what has the fact that pots are capped for rake got to do with my question?

On the big apple promotion the statement you quote by Betfair was in a little section of tips-not their t&c's or the bible. There is no need for you to ring them and its no wonder they did not know what you are talking about because you do not know yourself.

I know exactly what I am talking about, unlike you.  If you get more points playing fixed limit for the same stakes, then I would like to see the proof.  Why is there no need to ring them if I am uncertain about something.  Why, do you think betfair cannot make mistakes?

As for you threatening to get people banned then good luck.I would suggest though that if you don't like the replies you get then stop posting mundane drivel and totally retarded questions.

You posted a vile remark concerning me and akabula.  I will not stand for this type of comment.  I have had years of this abuse and I have decided to make a stand against it.  If you think that my question is retarded then I can only think that you are too stupid to understnd it.

On a lighter note, perhaps some good could come of this and you and 'tweety pie' could get together and simultaneously pop your cherries...Good luck.

Again, please do not repeat any such comments as the above.  I come on here to talk about poker, not to have to read such comments.

If rakeback calculators say that no limit pays more rake than fixed limit for the same stakes, then how does betfair say that fixed limit gives you more points?

Everyone is saying that you see more flops with fixed limit so therefore you must get more rake, but the pots are much smaller and you play a lot less games per hour.

I am sorry, mr tourney manager, but I still do not understand why the above would get you more rake.  I am a relative newcomer to poker and I know I do not know everything yet, but is that all the reason you say you would get more rake?

I have played today on betfair on fixed limit and no limit at the same stakes and NO LIMIT PAID  AT LEAST TWICE AS MANY PLAYER POINTS  THAN FIXED LIMIT, so can  you show me why you say the opposite?

Again, yes you see the flop more, but I played nearly twice as many hands on no limit in an hour and the pots were bigger on no limit.

Also, rakeback calculators show that you get back more rake per hour on no limit than fixed limit for the same stake.

BETFAIR TOURNEY MANAGER, YOU  HAVE NOT REPLIED YET

Dartgott, I was querying betfair regarding their claim in the big apple promotion that playing fixed limit games would give you more player's points.  I was interested in this promotion because I knew I could just about manage the points concerned, whereas higher stake players would do the points required in just a few hours.  So my questions have concerned playing at lower limits.  I realise that at $5/10 stakes then the difference in rake between fixed and no limit would be less because of the capped rake and playing style.

However, nothing anyone has said has yet to convince me that playing at smaller stakes fixed limit games gives you more player's points than no limit at the same stakes.  I played yesterday and my player's points were TWO AND A HALF TIMES AS MUCH AT NO LIMIT THAN FIXED LIMIT at the same stakes.
