you cant anymore, and apparently thats not likely to change  anytime soon according to official comments on this forum.

another of the non publicised effects of switching to bf2, which caused grief for those of us with loss limits on our accounts prior to the switch.

It makes no sense whatsoever if the powers that be were actually intrested in gamble awareness etc.

I for one grow tired of spunking my (many many) poker profits on sport bet whims.... and fear for the future should I continue my ascent to the top of the game.

This has always been my biggest gripe with bf.. that the betting account is the same as the poker account.. other sites like wills etc you have different accounts.  You can self exclude yourself from the casino on bf but you can not self exclude yourself from your betting acount as this will also close your poker account.  They are wrong and it does go against gambling awareness etc...

chipfire - my problem is i cannot bankroll manage when money is in my poker account either. I also stray into horseracing or sports bets when i have cash in my account.

So what i usually do, is limit my funds in my poker account to £100 or £200 at a time. I withdrawl winnings immediately, and deposit small as i go along playing.

It works for me - its my form of bankroll management.

the alternative for me is to keep the bulk of my bankroll on stars where it cant be frittered away on daft horse racing bets. its just too easy when you aren't working to pish away a weeks dole money on the gee gees in a couple of hours, then have to spend more hours winning it back at the poker tables, which is soul destroying.

the annoying thing is that there are some sports like rugby league and  american football where im consistently in  profit. its only the blasted nags that kill me.

ideally i'd get a backbone. Laugh

Back in the day Betfair used to let me have two accounts - one for poker, one for sports betting.  Why not just open another account and see what happens.

i already have 2 accounts and  you cant split them. Sad

i hit the green at a 335 yard par 4 today with my tee shot, much to the chagrin of the 3 ball already on it. then missed the 10 footer for eagle with the 3 of them willing me to miss.

played 29 holes today, therby missing  the entire card at doncaster, but  home in time for a lump on featherstone to win half time/full time at 4/5. Laugh

Did this and before the move it worked fine...you could set your sports bet limit to a pund a week thus enabling that account to be exclusively for poker...now alas this cannot be done without impacting your poker loss limits

Betfair changing platforms was great for me. I'd always played my poker on BF but, like many, couldn't get the new software to work. Opened a Pokerstars account and it's working beautifully - my poker winnings stay where they are and if I want to gamble on sport I do it with the pitiful amount I have remaining in my BF account.

Having the same problem myself. Do ok at poker but as you say "spunk" it back off on horses and football, which especially the latter send me on tilt more than poker ever does. This year has been the best ever for me on betting - about £500 up. Keep records for poker and sports betting and have never ever won at the latter. Buying the RP, the time spent on it, goals in the 90th min, short head defeats, it's not worth it.
The other day shook my Dads hand and said that's it, not going to do it (unless day at the races) not going to give my hard earned poker winnings back on the horses or football.
Weird this, get up in the morning, stick £5 in a jar. Satisfies my cravings. £20 in it now. Laugh

my total deposits on thecard ive  been using exclusively for about 18 months are £10,114

my total withdrawls are £17,730.60

and obviously i have money in there at the moment i could withdraw.

and i reckon i must be easily 2k down on sports betting, probably more. taking that loss limit off the account makes it really difficult for people like me that have real issues with gambling, which have zero effect on my poker play.

people should be able to limit their losses on betting, without it effecting their poker, as they were able to in the past.

very naughty of bf to change this without publicising it.

Happened today !!!!

A little note for you.

I rang BF helpdesk today and asked the following..

Me: Can i restrict my loses on sports betting without effecting my poker account?

Adam: Yes you can put a limit per week year or month

Me: OK can i put a limit of £5 per year. Are you sure it won't effect my poker as i play most days and i'm in the middle of leaderboards for end of month.

Adam: Let me put you on hold and confirm with my manager.

Adam: Yes it will not effect your poker account as you can do it per area i.e. arcade, sports, poker.

Me: Ok go ahead

Call ends.

I then try and reg for a MTT but it won't let me. I call back and Adam speaks to manager and confirm they have made a mistake and will not be able to change for 7 days meaning i cannot play for 7 days. Manager calls back and says he cannot do anything and that it was BF fault.

I then tell him it will cost me money as playing for leaderboards this month in about 35th and next months.

Confirms he cannnot do anything offered £25 lol

I wanted to restrict sports betting as i lose at sports and win at poker. Now can't play poker for the week will miss on cash in leaderboards, and generally BF not taking responsabilty.

I will be leaving now to join Ongame through another affilate if i do not get a suitable apology and at least have the courtesy to make a suitable offer.

I have played on BF 2 years but this really has p**sed me off.

Spider Deck.

Anyone know which other site gd for ongame(as i like it and used to it)?

alternatively we should all club together, form a syndicate, and subscribe to the infamous tipping service currently advertising in the racing post for new members.

wouldnt cost much if there were half a dozen of us, and its money we are gonna pish away anyway. Blush

If u guys seriously have that much of a problem where u cannot go without making a bet then u need help, So what if you win at poker and lose at horses why do u expect people to feel sorry for u? just withdraw all funds and go to a poker only site ffs and stop crying.

There are many sports bettors that are regular donaters on the poker tables, should we feel sorry for them and ask betfair to sepeate their poker accounts from their betting accounts?
