yes - i have ties with 30 other sites too - so no, im not an employee as i give players deals on other sites too. I also play poker on other sites myself. I play on fools tilt, ipoker, entraction and from time to time boss media and pkr.

seeing as it really matters to you, these are the only ones i told or referred to this promo:
ghadaffi, finalinsult, denyy1, hotpotone, aceshigh112 (who didnt register), kunoba (who didnt play or get a ticket even though he requested one)
Report The Klup August 20, 2010 7:35 PM BST
quite frankly annie - you clearly are straying away from any genuine concerns regarding this promo.  This promo isnt about KLUP. My name was one of 50 or 60 who listed their names to enter.

In the last 2 or 3 or 4 years - other than the chance to attend the feedback presentation promotion ... what specifically can you say i received preferrencial treatment for??

If anything I deserve more. I worked my a%% off to sort out a team event, tried to get a second one going, assisted with the forum games, and helped out in Vienna when the things went pear shaped trying to get from hotel to poker house.

Nearly everything critically listed in these threads about me and how i am favoured is purely perceived and if i am honest - unjust towards me as you nearly automatically black ball me from other promos because people have this "perceived" notion that I am favoured.

Now take a step back - look away from this thread for two or three days and then come back and go over everything - and you will soon see that this is NOT ABOUT KLUP!
Report annie. August 20, 2010 7:35 PM BST
Sorry, klup, it seems the thread is being all about you, and it really was not meant to be  Sad

I just wanted to bring it to the attention of whoever is in charge of poker at betfair because I think it shows exactly how incompetent those charged with running it are.  It was supposed to be a public relations exercise but has succeeded in annoying the very people it was supposed to help.

It is not as if this is the first time this has happened.  There was  a promo exactly like this a few weeks ago, where again the first 25 people to register got invited to betfair, wined and dined and then treated to a game o f poker with only about 25 people in it and, I think, a prize of about £2000.  There were several posters then annoyed at the arbitary way this great prize was decided.  Are betfair public relations just rewarding a select few?
Report miltonbadley August 20, 2010 7:55 PM BST
I thought it was an excellent promotion and one of the few I have personally been able to sign up for.  Based on the fact that there were 50 tickets available, I think they did make a ricket by initially saying only the first 50 would be registered, but I have no beef with them going past that number or even holding it open until after the deadline, or registering based on requests for friends.  They bent over backwards to get people into the tournament.  Well done Betfair (long time since I said that).  Maybe I won't be able to go for the next freebie, but it won't make me bitter because you can't please all the people all the time.  I am sure there will be other opportunities later.

Before anyone comments about my registration date, the my other account is from 2002 and I still use it for non-poker betting, this one is "cake enabled".

My only complaint is that I played bad and lasted only 15 minutes, but that's not Betfair's fault.

And you bruce willis are a liar.

You said that the date on your name was not your joining date but the date you first posted on the forum.  That is not true.  Your date on your name is the date you joined betfair.  So you was able to get a ticket worth $200, yet you have been on betfair for just over three weeks.
Report Bruce Willis August 20, 2010 11:06 PM BST
Please get it into your tiny brain that creating a user name(for this forum) and posting in this forum has absolutely nothing to with how long ago I joined betfair and played poker on the old software.

Oh and that's my 4th $200k ticket I've won through the satellite's and this BF promo, so why don't you spend 5$ in a satellite and try and win one for yourself instead of moaning about the 'new' people here that won one.

To any forum member who has just seen this thread, I will bring you up to date without wading through all of it.

A short summary is -

Betfair poker public relations said that if you posted your name on this thread, then the first 50 names would receive free entry into a tourney where you had an odds on chance to win a ticket worth $200 dollars.  There were 89 entries to the tourney and the TOP FIFTY PLAYERS WON A TICKET WORTH $200 into a tourney of their choice.  i.e. you could have used this ticket to enter the $200,000 guaranteed tourney on Sunday.  Usual entry is $200.

What I, and several others, have said is that it was a very stupid and unfair way to distribute this handsome prize.  Seven people who joined that day got a ticket and at least twenty had only joined in the last few months.  Klup phoned several of his mates, as was his right, and others told their friends.  About forty of those who got a ticket hardly post on these forums anyway, so you wonder whether they play poker and/ or bet on sports a lot as well.

When you are a huge company like betfair, the biggest sports book in the world, you would have thought that every action of yours must BE RIGHT AND NOT ONLY THAT, BUT BE SEEN TO BE RIGHT.  I am not saying it was abused, but it was open to abuse and it should not have been.  You are, after all, a gambling company and your reputation is everything.

I don't want to provoke argument, but i genuinely think the promo was brilliant even though i missed it.

When judging the quality of a promo like this i think you have to imagine if it was every week(or day), and then how important it would be for you to try and take advantage of it.

This is one of those that are in fact terrific, you would try your best to get in every week(or day) until the value was soaked up.

The fact that it was missed is an inconvenience not a nail in the promos coffin.

I notice 'big, bad and ready for action' that your joining date to betfair was AFTER the promotion, so I do not think that your comment is appropriate.  I also note that you can paragraph, spell, and that your comments read like a press release.

ARE YOU A SEED?

It has been commented in other forums that we think that betfair, or the company that manages these forums, are encouraging their employees to post on the forums, saying nice things about betfair.  If this is true, and I think I believe it, it is destroying the forums - because how can you have a decent conversation with anyone paid to post on here?

In reply to your comments, how on earth could they do this promotion every day, what $10000 every day to just 50 people - get real.

If they were every day and you would try your best to get in, what would that achieve in a marketing sense?  Noone would have to post a comment on this forum, just put their name down.  So it would not make the forum better or bigger.  How does putting your name down for a promo make the forum better or bigger?  You would not have to read the forum or post on it to enter, so how can the promo improve the forum?  It is just a waste of money that could have been spent on a proper promo open to all, not just a select few in the know.

It was especially annoying for those who work, and probably spend more on poker than a lot of the ones that got tickets.

I posted with an old account that had no forum name registered to see what date it would show to prove conclusively whether the date would show as original join up or forum name sign up. The reason it is post 2 and not 1 (before people scream about it not being my first post) is because i made a test post somewhere else.

As i started the post with "Also,"... immediately after my Dealem post i thought it would have been clear and was in no way an attempt to post anonymously. Obviously not clear enough as it is quite ambiguous reading back over, so apologies...

I agree with Annie in all this.

Now it may seem ungrateful of me to publicly post that I think BFP are wrong to do a promotion in this way. After all, I was one of the few who were lucky enough to be invited to HQ a few weeks ago and came 3rd (effectively on the bubble) when 2 seats were given out to one of the WSOPE events. Don't get me wrong, it was a good evening and I was more than happy to accept the invitation but I wasn't a big player on BFP1 and was a little surprised to be invited.

To my mind it's about customer loyalty and to give away 50 free seats to any old random who was lucky to see the post on that day and indeed signed up to BFP on the strength of that, is plain wrong.

I missed this last promotion and I would've have tried to get on the list- obviously. However, I really do think that BF need to take care of their best customers first. If that meant giving away 40 free seats via email to those customers and then the remaining 10 seats to randoms, then that is how it should have been done. What possible reason would someone who is a high raker on this site have for carrying on if they believe that they are not valued, especially with the problems that have occurred since the move to Ongame?

Saying all this I hope that BF continue with these type of promotions [:p]
Report The Klup August 24, 2010 8:54 AM BST
- how betfair or any other poker site choose to do promotions and spend their budget is entirely their own right.
- sometimes small customers become big ones (do you thing some of the spackers and scandiuk's of this world did not start out on one table raking $20 a month?) Trust me, I started out playing one or two $2 tourney a day and a year or two later found myself playing beyond my means at $400 sit n go's as standard. I ended up raking $4000 a month
- loyalty? Many players who are loyal to betfair, including me, still play on three or four other poker sites.
- The promotion was open to all, the 50 players who got tickets qualified to it

Annie has lost the plot on this and her answer to everything is "have you met the betfair reps, what is your relationship to betfair"  this makes me LMFAO every time
WHAT ABOUT THE 10,000's of players who joined 100's of poker sites and dont get rakeback because they didnt have a clue what rakeback was? FFS we talking about a $200 ticket here and a $10K promotion. Annie - why dont you make a stand against all poker sites insisting that they give all players rakeback and not just the ones that "knew about it" "had contacts" or "read up on it"

THIS WAS A BRILLIANT PROMO!!! WELL DONE BETFAIR - Please can i declare my interest in the next Betfair promo :D

-that is quite correct, so what? Their customers are not allowed to have a say?
-I doubt very much if one of those newbies who took advantage of BF's kind offer will become big customers. Those same people would be poker players already and would anyone in their right mind decide to play exclusively on the Ongame network?
-you may play 3 or 4 other poker sites-as we all do- but the rake you generate and the rake that others generate does not suggest a casual player. Therefore reward your highest earners first.
-and that is my point....
Report annie. August 24, 2010 12:49 PM BST
Thank you SelkirkAgain, I really, really appreciate your support in this matter.

Regarding customers having a say, I rang customer service to voice my displeasure at how people could join on the day and earn a $200 ticket.  I was told, basically, it was none of my business.  He also refused to pass the complaint on and said if I wanted to take it further then to email in, he would not be doing anything about it. He said, and apparently he was a shift leader, that as I had spoken to him, then the complaint had been registered, without him passing it on to anyone!!  He also was aggressive about it, not willing to see my point of view at all.  This contrasted strongly with my complaint to customer service at betfair sports.  This customer service agent instantly saw what I was getting at and agreed, genuinely, that it did look like a stupid, unfair promotion and that he would pass the complaint on.

Perhaps we would be better off complaining to betfair sports about poker, as nothing seems to be done from Malta.

I had a quick look at those that had cashed in Sunday's tourney.  There were two that had joined betfair on the day of the promotion in order to enter, one earned $420 and another $348 - good work for a couple of minutes joining up and probably not one penny in rakepaid!!  There could have been others, but I just glanced at the results to see if I could see a name I remembered.  This also does not take into account that the ticket is transferable,  some are holding out for better promotions.
Report akabula August 24, 2010 1:12 PM BST
REWARD YOUR HIGHEST EARNERS FIRST
SA I'm a small time player but agree with your sentiments in general ie companies have to look after their bigger earners but what I cannot agree with is what you seem to be implying and that is that players like myself should be ignored. I really think you mean ONLY REWARD YOUR HIGHEST EARNERS.
Most promotions ARE aimed at the higher earners so what harm in having the odd one like this open to all.
Has certainly created a lot of interest and has sparked the forum into life.
I also think that too much is made of peep having met BF reps at functions and the implications that because of this, and the possible risk of exclusion from future 'freebies', are reluctant to have a go at BF.
Judging by the posts on here where most if not all the higher earners have had a go these peep are strong enough characters and know their worth to BF not too hold back.
This promotion WAS a great idea IMO and I hope I can look forward to something similar in the not too distant future.
Meanwhile, and as a result of this promotion, I will try to win my ticket each week through the various sat's as I enjoyed the experience.
Good luck at the tables.

Should have been restricted to players who joined at least three months prior to the promotion date and who have generated a minimum of $20s rake in the last four weeks - or something similar to that.
That way you get genuine regular players only rewarded.

Sorry SA re-read and now understand the point you were making.
Who knows tho SA might have been some e-mailed just as you say and entered 'under the radar' as it were.
Hope that last comment doesn't start Annie off on one again. Silly

how quickly people forget the recent promotions that suited the biggest rakers:

- aussie millions packages
- wsop side event packages
- wsop main event packages
- 150% rakeback promotion
- PLUS leaderboards, 40% rakeback and other promos

I know some big time players who raked themselves a wsop package and then stopped playing!

lets get realisitic

10/10 for the promo

Klup, reading your rather windy C.V (the 20 Aug 10 13:17 post) it appears that you feel a sense of entitlement, regarding carving up promo's with your Betfair buddy, because you organise a piss-up that the majority of customers didn't attend. Is this correct?

But that is what I and several others have been saying all along, akabula!  It was the fact that genuine regular players missed out that annoyed me and others.

I really can't for the life of me work out why people are having a go at annie.

The last post sums it all up perfectly.

I am just replying to the posts of others, bruce.  I do not see you having a go at the klup for still posting on this thread.  Besides, all those posters who got a ticket would hardly say it was a stupid promotion , would they?

I think, as I have said before, that all those posters who defend the promotion should say whether they have met the betfair reps and  whether they got a ticket.

Dealem and bruce willis, have you met the betfair reps?

I know Annie but in general terms I thought the promotion a good idea and you thought it not. In hindsight I have suggested some tweaking that's all.
My response has been consistent and mainly responding to the jibes re the timing and comment on 'a layabouts charter'.
I reminded certain peep that Britain aint the centre of the world and that no matter when it was run then some players would be at work and miss out.
Also I asked if layabouts included peep on holiday/peep on days off/peep on shifts/peep who are disabled and unable to work/and etc
Great promotion BF - lets have more.

As regards having a go at you Annie I thought you let yourself down, and still do,  with these constant references to peep having met BF reps.
So what, do you honestly think they would all sell their souls for a few freebies.
If you think it through it's quite an insult as is suggesting that peep who got tickets would be less than honest about the merit's of the promotion.

The klup

The promotion was open to all, the 50 players who got tickets qualified to it

What way did they qualify for it, klup?

You sound like they played for hours and hours on satellites, which is what they would have had to do, usually without reward, instead of just being in the know that betfair pr had put an announcement on this forum.  You admit yourself that you phoned your friends about this promo.  All they had to to was put their name down on this site, how does that mean they 'qualified' for it?

Oh,  and I am never grumpy  Silly  I just do not believe that injustices  and stupidity should go unremarked.

Surely a pro or full-time poker player is more likely to be on a poker forum during the afternoon and it is them who deserve this offer more than anyone?

The offer was specifically targeted at the forum so it would defeat the object if they e-mailed a select few-or maybe they should have posted the offer on the forum for deranged women(cough cough) or the 'I flip burgers for a living' website so everyone could have got the message.

And people on the dole cannot afford broadband and those who do have to work are obviously cr4p at poker and should spend their money on their family and not on funding their gambling habit.

If certain low-raking loudmouths are getting this upset at losing something they didn't even have in the first place then if I was Betfair I would not bother again.
