Despite the change of venue and loads of people pulling out, as always it was a b loody good weekend and nice to see some familiar faces..as Ollie said "go with the flow" and we did..Despite the lack of betfair reps, which I thought was dissapointing to say the least..Klup took the reins and did a great job and at least we ended up with a Friday night comp, if not the team event we came up for. I ended up in a coin toss with Variance, my AK vs his QQ..I hit my ace and king..but he hit a queen and I retired to the cash tables with slightly more success ;)
In my p*ssed state I must have upset every dealer in there, as the next day they were all determined to give me 6-2 and the like for 4 hours of the main comp..I busted 12th when my AQ came up against 99..I flopped the ace but the dreaded 9 appeared on the river..
Great to see some old (some older than others) faces..and hopefully it won't be the last forum game..but things don't look promising.

N1 Danse, unfortunately for me flights to Pompey were prohibitive and timescales too short, I ended up in Krakow instead (for a lot less money!)
I hope it continues as I'd like to attend another event, there's a few pints I'd like to buy for certain forumites [;)]. Betfair don't organise enough live events and there's nothing like a medium buy in for us little guys that the forum games attracts.
I'd like to see satellites, a poker league and other options to buy in along with a longer timescale to organise. This years game was mooted about in March but the final decision wasn't made until June. Some of us have to travel from all over the country to get to these games, decent timescales are vital.
Perhaps now is the time to start organising next years event?

I spoke to a few guys about doing a weekend in Tallinn Austria
Just did expedia to tallinn for 28 Oct - 1 Novemeber and it was £80 for flight from stanstead.
Hotel there was 50 euros a night and casino / poker room all part of the same set up.
Small friendly country - great pubs (BEER HOUSE.!!!. http://www.beerhouse.ee/ and clubs as well - cheap to get around (7 quid from airport to hotel), hotel central as well.
Costs per person is about £200 ...
We could get a poker weekend set up there? who would be interested?

Gotta say that despite the unfortunate circumstances on Friday I still had a fantastic weekend and really enjoyed the poker and the company.
Sorry for all the people I drove mad with my incessant drivel at the tables.
Special thanks to the Klup who used his immense positivity to turn what could have been a disaster into a success.

We can make the poker weekend whatever we want it to be.
If 15-25 people show a true interest to do this, then I will work to make it happen. I just don't want to go to the effort of sorting something out and then have just 6 people go through with it.

Yeah the girls are miles better looking in Nottingham than Tallinn.... actually...
DTD would be of more interest to my lot...could def. get bus of about 10
I could probably make DTD one weekend later in the year. A weekend with a schedule like they have this weekend coming up would be good.
Flights are a lot cheaper to Nottingham (£14) than compared to Tallinn (£250 via Dublin).

There is no chance betfair will add value to a tournament that is hosted at a club with online poker associated to it - so it will just be an unofficial get together.

So you think Betfair closed down Duffs do you? And if you don't think that then you will realise that betfair cancelled nothing apart from the arrival of their reps which looks bad on them not mandy or duffs.
If you have an axe to grind with Duffs or Carl then I suggest you man up and go and confront them face to face rather than sniping anonamously on an internet forum.
