No propoganda just tell it how you have found it.

Multis - fields / gtds  / overlays?
Cash - NL and PLo player pools and standard?

MTTs are fine, though can't remember seeing any overlay outside the betfair ones. The schedule has a good mix.  The standard seems at least as bad as betfair to me, though there are some decent players.  Some terrible players seem to have very 5 figure positive on MTTs on sharkscope, though I am guessing that just demonstrates how variance kicks in Happy  They do go on later than the old betfair ones, so can't imagine that is going to suit with a young baby. Bothe the 35k and the 70k on sunday finish past 2am, and the 7k, $100 freeze still had 9 players when I went to bed at midnight last night.

STTs are softer than betfair at the higher levels, though there is an evil leap from 100/200 to 200/400. Luckily some of them don't get pot odds.  Same old people from the old site never lose when all in especially when I step up to $300 games ffs. Plain

I haven't played cash yet.  I guess the 5 seats, reduced rakeback, dumb table set up and the lack of notes on players is going to make it much harder to make money for a while, and I don't have the time to put 10k hands in to settle.  I may start playing 10 seaters again until I get settled, but I find the game too slow these days.

Plusses
Plenty of good MTT options I think
STT's fill up
Overall standard seems poor
Much more liquidity everywhere
No wait list means you can play against fish easier
No lag for me, whereas on the old site it used to quite badly

Minuses
Late finish on Sundays
No find a player makes fish harder to find
No observer chat means its just playing poker and less fun
5 handed tables with no wait list means tables break quickly
its new and takes getting used to

keith has it pretty much spot on. i also havent had any discos or lag, which i had regularly on the old.

standard at lower end in stts/mtts (10$-20$ buyins) even worse than old bf, tho getting better as more old school bf players are finally getting moved across.

Best post so far. People posting who I know and respect. But is it not based on poor sample size? Doobs, SOAP, you should know better. The bottom line I would think for all of you (who've posted and me) is: are we going to be better off? I like chatting to people, but if I'm doing my b0llocks and losing then it's bye bye - I'm right aren't I? I haven't downloaded the software, and not ready to play yet because of work, but I've read the forum with a lot of interest. If you're winning you'll still be here? (rockme)

In essence - the platform and the player profile is similar to old Betfair and possibly even easier to win against.

I have not played on here much but I have made a profit on 5 handed STT's ($22-$54)and considering i am overall a losing stt player, that says a bit about the poor standard of play.

A huge positive is the range of the MTT schedule which I much prefer - massive difference although I have played only 10 or less of them.  I dont really care about the lack of overlay but someone previously had made a comment about players making profits on MTT's due to the previously high and consistent overlays on Betfair (Might have been McCoy Carp) and I think he is right. A few marginal profit players will now struggle and inevitably "blame the **** platform" for it, but more than anything we will start to see the men seperated from the boys.

The absence of a rail at tables and player finder is a big issue for me as its part and parcel of my persona - to make it worse, three tabling on this site has made it near impossible for me to communicate with others on the table or even on msn and skype where I constantly abuse my German, British and Serbian fish friends!

PS McCoy Carp - I got your number from the colonel so will be calling you on route to pompei
Report chipfire227 August 10, 2010 10:58 AM BST
i dont think you need a huge sample size to get a general feel for the standard on a site. i exchanged views with another reg via msn after the first week, and we both agreed we were overbetting our strong hands way more than we would  do for instance on sta*s, as we kept ketting paid off on bf2.

again im only talking about 10$-20$ buyins, but a lot of the play is really awful.

We have been monitoring the forums and are acutely aware of the negative feedback expressed by forumites who are unhappy with some of the decisions that we have made in recent weeks.
We fully understand and appreciate your frustrations and take the insults with a pinch of a salt and a smile, however, the core sentiment behind them is not lost on us, nor is the fact that our customers feel compelled to write such things.

Ultimately we are accountable to you, the paying customer, so we would like to take the time to explain the reasoning behind  some of the decisions we have made recently in our poker room and also address some of the points raised on the forum over the last few days.

I think an appropriate place to start would be the perceived inaccessibility of the decision makers within the Betfair poker team. Whilst it is not always apparent, we do read the forum on a daily basis and take onboard all of your feedback and comments. We don’t always have time to reply to every post or thread but rest assured your feedback does reach us, we are receptive to it, and we do act upon it. We genuinely welcome and encourage your comments (and criticisms), especially where poker promotions are concerned. It is with this valuable feedback that we can continue to improve your experience of our poker product and the delivery of our promotions.

The biggest forum topic of the day, and one we feel compelled to give our feedback on, is the decision to remove the Betfair exclusive tournaments from our schedule.  In short, this was purely a commercial decision based solely on the cost we were incurring in running these tournaments. In the ten days that these tournaments ran, they performed particularly badly, with an average overlay of over 40%, per day.  It’s regrettable that we weren’t able to communicate the cancellation in advance, but as I’m sure you can appreciate as a business we cannot run tournaments at a significant loss for a sustained period of time, not least for the sake of our margins, but for the sake of other customers too.

Tournament overlays impact promotional budgets limiting our ability to invest in innovative and valuable promotions, bonuses, live event qualification and much more. In our last 6 months as an independent platform, we maintained our guaranteed tournaments for as long as possible, sustaining overlays that ran into many hundreds of thousands of dollars. We obviously would have much preferred to spend this money on headline promotions and valuable bonuses that reward all players and not the very few, but that was the nature of the beast. It is partly for this reason that we took the decision to join the Ongame network. Free from the burden of crippling overlays, we have invested some $500,000 in promotions for the launch of Betfair Poker 2 alone, which is on top of the $220,000+ per month we will invest in our poker promotions going forwards. I believe this is testament to our commitment to becoming the number one choice for online poker in Europe.

That said, it is certainly one of our top priorities to relaunch an exclusive Betfair tournament schedule and you can expect this to be implemented towards the start of next month.

With regards to the ongoing saga of the promotional leader boards (or lack of), I won’t bore you with the precise technical details but suffice to say we have experienced unforeseen issues with our data feeds since the upgrade to Betfair Poker 2. This has meant we have been unable to regularly update promotional leader boards, namely the $60K Points Race, the $30,000 Sit n Go ROI Challenge and the new $20,000 MTT leader board.

We were fully aware of the huge technical and logistical obstacles that faced us and made meticulous plans over the past year to overcome these challenges. Unfortunately, the very nature of a technologically driven business means that unforeseen and unavoidable difficulties can and will occur, no matter how well prepared you are, as was the case here.

I am pleased to say that we have now made the payments for the SNG ROI Challenge and the $60K Points Race and we have published the $20,000 MTT leader board covering the period August 1st to yesterday.

On behalf of all the team here at Betfair poker I would like offer my sincere apologies to all players affected by the technical difficulties that have blighted the promotional leader boards for the last two weeks. We are now getting on top of these issues and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued patience and understanding whilst we work on resolving these nagging technical problems.

See you at the tables,

Betfair Poker Team

thanks for the update, a statement like this occasionally is all its takes to make (most) customers happy
Its being kept in the dark that annoys everyone, we just need explanations for the reasons behind problems and changes
please make more regular statements such as the above [:D]

a new issue ive heard about is the new sit and go leader leaderboard allowing coin flip and mad all in games to be included in the points?!?!?!
How can you put up a promotion that asks, "are you the best SnG player?"
and make it possible for a player to win it by playing games with absolutely no skill involved?

I have played most of my online poker at BF for last 3 years. However after giving the new client a 'good go' I will be no longer doing so. I never played at ongame before as the client was awful.

no waiting lists
no timebanks
no player location shown
no 6 max
no player finder
extremely limited options
all ring tables are full ring so makes table layout awful on eye (not one othe rmajor site adopts this layout and for a good reason just poorly designed software)
above causes big problems for players using hud
awful sng table layout
ugly cards
unable to use return key to bet
no all in button

This is just what I can see after 1200 hands. I used to play 6 max/hu/sng playing both omaha and hold em at BF but will reduce this to nlhe cash HU. I will just play more at the other sites I play at.

Citing how much rake has been lost by my shift of site is pointless, either this will have positive financial impact on BF poker and nothign will change or if the impact is negative enough then it might shift back, however by then I guess most of the players will have settled somewhere else.

Peace

Plenty of things I am not happy about. If you are multitabling you cannot find space to keep the side bar open all the time. The only info you need off it are your position in the tourney and your folded cards. On other sites these are available on the main part of the screen.

I am getting disconnected a few times every day in spite of having a very good broadband connection, so no improvement there.

I guess I could live with the above if I was finding it easy to make money, but I am not. I think the old BF deepstack MTTs with rebuys only for the first hour then freezeout suited my style of play. Now it just seems like bingo most of the time with some idiot calling every hand and usually winning. So I think I will be moving on.

BF sports and main website is visionary to any other websites in the world and for the founders to put up with this is beyond me as they are obviously savvy people and must be livid at the reactions i'd say.
there must be poker players on here or ex-players that would use the main site to have the odd bet, thru boredom or pure handiness... now they are leaving thenpoker site will they still use the site to bet on? some may some may not.. but it's not good sales..
