I have just found out that even though i have my cake grandfathered over to BF2 they use a different system to calculate rake with losing players getting more cake and winning players less(see thread on 2+2 forum) This will mean my 40% deal will be nothing like worth that over at BF2(check your points if you are a winning player and see how much they have reduced!!
Add to that the new players system which is also a much reduced percentage back to players it looks like the bigger cakers will be a lot worse off due to this move, any thoughts???
Onto the software,i realise it takes a while to get used too(only played 4.2k hands 4 tabling instead of 6) but i find that 5 seater play is a lot different to 6 seater and although bf 6 seater tables are there they are empty.
Even if i do get used to the 5 seat games i cannot understand why the 5 seat are on 10 seat tables, this means when multi tabling all tables are different and HUD layouts are all over the place!!
Table selection is horrible, with no player finder and no waiting list, this has again made for a step back, especially for winning mt players.
Are betfair going to change/add these to the software?? still no auto rebuy?? i am just frustrated that none of these have been considered before the move and in a way it seems a step backwards to the last platform.
worse of with cake, worse of with software,i ralise we all have to change but surely a change going forward?? at the moment i am struggling to see any benefits apart from maybe player pool size. I would normally be playing now but i dont want to play when i feel worse off before i have even started.
lol yes lets just give the bad players a better deal and forget the higher caking regs.
I take it by your response you are among the masses that lose and are happy with your extra benefits, i am not asking for more, just the same as before is that not fair?? see the betfair thread on 2+2 medium stakes for more info and chat on this "essenese" scheme
:-)

if you and your mate both did a job earning 10k a year and one day you went in and they said sorry bob your now on 8k and your mate is on 12k,for doing exactly the same job would that make you a tory?? or would you be happy for your mate(who isnt as good as you) to have some extra cash

Cake is proportioned so that winning players get less than losing players,on 2+2 forum look at the betfair thread (on medium stakes nl holdem forum) also the ongame thread
I phoned my poker account manager and he confirmed this although it has been kept very quiet for abvious reasons!!

Thats an option Eagle, but when you have a million hands of data about thousands of players my first option would be to try and stay on the same deal,if not then i think your right

racing Ive seen the threads but i dont get it. Are you saying that winning players get less than 40% or losing players get more than 40%? How often is it adjusted?

yes basically if you are a winning player, some of YOUR cake will be given to the losing player in the hand, the more you win the smaller your cake will be. The people who are already experiencing it are getting up to 40 or 50% less cake. There line of thinking is it keeps the fish playing longer but most fish/poor player arnt on cake deals or dont care about 2 dollars here and there when they are spewing 200 dollar buyins,so the poker bosses are paying less cake out

racing revenue i'm a small stake 1/2 tables player and realise the importance of peep like yourself to the site but i can't help but think that in the long run this is doing you a favour if indeed it does keep the fish playing. i know a few bookies and they all have the same philosophy with regards punters - they never want to skin them but bleed them week in week out. up until now theres always been a steady flow of fish to the tables but saturation point cannot be far off and might even be here now. nothing wrong in being a tory either unless like me you live in scotland.

i have a miniscule weekly loss limit on sports betting. essentially to stop me pishing away money i win at poker on the horses.
without telling anyone before the switch, the sports loss limit now applies to poker too. this means i have to wait a week before i can even play.
you couldnt make this shyte up.

I have decided to use another site as well as betfair,by spliting my hands 50/50 i will judge over the next few months the results. Also this will give me a good idea to see how soft the games and how even the cake is between sites.

How has the first week gone Mr. Racing? Only been on 3 days and obviously the 'find a player' and 'waiting lists' are a big miss, but to be honest im finding the play a lot fishier. Used to play 5 tables of 50nl on old Bf but playing 4 of 100 at the minute. Still cant get bloody HEM working so hopefully things will improve a bit when its up and running. A lot of the LAGS seem way ott, calling 3bets with 34o, getting all in with 10 j pre etc. Any thoughts?

Cakeback was used to draw in people and bring loyalty but it has essentially destroyed online poker. There are now hordes of multi-tabling break-even grinders playing for their rakeback and it has changed the gameplay radically.
OUT WITH CAKEBACK! BAN CAKEBACK IN ONLINE POKER!
Make online poker a game again where you have to try to win from gameplay.

Poolio if they ban cakeback then that will mean the sites will take even more money from the game tham they do now. Anyway I thought you'd be one of those benefiting from a system that subsidises the fish.

Hi Plankton, I have played about 10k hands on bf2 and also have played a similar number elsewhere. I also used to play 5 or 6 at BF but on BF 2 i play 4 tables mainly due to the speed of the games with 4 or 5 players.
I have HEM and my HUD working fine(email me at racingrevenue@yah oo dot co dot uk) only problem is when i change seat(to always sit same postion) my Hud isnt changing!! so lots of dragging around. I am finding the games ok and even the 3 seater games are good against some very loose regs.
Stilll not happy about the new cakeback system, hence i am playing 2 sites to balance this out(i also got big deposit bonus and a lot higher RB deal)
I qualified for the 200 dollar ticket for the 250k in october, and i think the tornie players will be a lot happier with BF2 than cash players.
If a player finder/waiting list was developed for the next upgrade and all BF players had there cake grandfathered at 40% *(old system) then i think they would be happier times ahead!!

Am i to understand that although betfair say they will honour any existing rakeback deals (i my self am on 30%) I havent opted into any of the new site deals ..no points etc .. that i will astually be getting less for playing the same because of this reward the donk rake distribution system ??

Alex yes the old system was bf points x 0.05 multiplied by your RB percentage
The new system is a secret formula(well i have asked and they wont tell us!!) which rewards losing players(based on rolling 3 months) with more cake and winning players with less
My point is if you are a consistent winning player of lets say 3bb/100 you are now WORSE off because your cake will go down for playing the same winning poker.
What to do?? well i have split my hands between 2 sites, also what happens if i lose a hu game at big stakes to a friend,i now become a losing player and get more cake back. This will be open to all sorts of manipulation, it must be the only system in the world that rewards poor performance

ok but what about these emails we got saying bf will "grandfather" all rake deals,is that a load of bollox or is the deal still there but the original %from the hand is reduced therefore reducing the end total?

Several networks are seeing companies earning less money and taking action against winners and/or high raking players. cakeback never used to exist, I used to play and win without it as did many others. Yes you've got it, cakeback is 'a system that subsidises the fish', that is the whole problem. Sites are clogged up with too many people who can't play good poker yet make a living from the online form ENTIRELY from cakeback. Whether I am one of those people or not is irrelevant.

Evening Racing Just finished work so I'll knock you an email up about HEM in the morning. I was at the Betfair poker game on Wednesday night and can confirm that they are looking into the find a player option, but deffo will not be bringing the waiting lists back (they say it stops people opening up new tables). Alex and Hammerd, we are keeping our old rakeback deals (if we want to that is) but unfortunately it will be worked out differently and if you are both winning players, you WILL get less, havent got a clue how to work it out though as it depends upon who you are winning your money off.
