You find it amazing that people would like free food and drink and then to play a mtt where the top two prizes are worth at least a grand?

I think we both know what is going barretta.

Same old story when it comes to things like this, when it comes to random draws it's not what you know it's who you know Sad

Good Luck to all who participate tomorrow, it would be nice if someone could post up who wins the prizes etc?

James what i find amazing is they have the gall to come on here day after day slagging bf then when there is a promo they turn round and say pick me pick me pick me, then when they dont get what they want they start again, agreed the prize is a nice one, but surely bf should reward those who have stuck by them and leave these whingers alone.

DaVinci,

Just want to say that I have no connection with BF or anyone in the company; indeed I hardly post on this forum yet I was picked.

I did question at the time whether it would be randomly chosen but I am proof that it was.

I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow night Happy

I have just replied to say i can attend (although did ring earlier, but have zero faith in helpdesk doing anything) and want to echo the above blokes post. I havent played on betfair seriously for a good couple of years after falling out with regard non english talk between 2 scandis when down to the last 3 in a tourny and what i precieved to be little action (they carried on until i was knocked out), so by far not a 'choosen' one picked.

And can anyone advice best way froms kings cross to betfair please ??
Report DaVinci I August 3, 2010 7:40 PM BST
Hi Selkirk

I'm not very good at communicating on a forum, which, to be honest is why I don't do it more often so please don't take this the wrong way.

I have no doubt the original selection was random (and I am pleased you were invited - Good Luck BTW). The problem I have is after that original selection was made (4 days late as it goes) things haven't been quite right... There are certain people who probably deserve to go who weren't included intially which is fair enough.

I'll probably get banned or similar for what I am going to say now, but at this point I am not too bothered. Certain posters connected to Betfair have obviously posted things that patently aren't true which I find disturbing.

I am a man of principle and have struggled to deal with this whole process. I have kids and wouldn't let them behave in this manner (Basically I am not an 18 year old keyboard warrior)

It is pretty obvious what has happened but no one can actually come out and admit it.

I'm not a high raker myself so was never expecting an invite, but the other thing that has bugged me somewhat is the people who constantly slate Betfair are now all of a sudden loving the site because of a Freebie.

I run a business myself and if I had people posting untruths to my customers I would be livid.

Just re-read the above prior to posting and it still doesn't sound right and makes me come across as cantakerous old fool.

I'll try not to post again and genuinely I wish you and everyone else playing tomorrow night the best of luck.

Kenvil - You need to get on the Picadilly line to Hammersmith.

alexsdad - "hate" is a strong word and does not reflect just walking away and choosing a better skin which I and I guess most of the rest you refer to actually did. Which of the 25 do you refer to that "hate" Betfair? You come across as a very sad individual.

Da Vinch - I remember you from the old crypto days and I think you also carried on playing on crypto when Betfair went to the pokerchamps system as I disd also. I respected you as a good player when we were on the same tables which is why I felt compelled to reply. I can see where you are coming from and good luck on which ever skin you currently play - I guess ipoker??

Report danners August 3, 2010 8:44 PM BST
there was deffo a Davinch on the crypto site.

Alexdad - Betfair 1 (pokerchamps) was an appalling system, I would estimate over 90% of the regular players before the move from crypto left Betfair because of it, hence this forum being pretty dead compared to the old days. This is a different skin that I have never played on before and I am happy to give it a try because a) I like the fact I can use funds from my sports trading and b) I've not been as profitable on any system in the past 2 years (ipoker, stars, microgaming) compared to my 4 years on the cryptologic network or my live play so willing to give this ongame system a go. Is that ok with you?

DaVinci,

I was suspicious that the draw would be random and personally I would have invited those on here who played on BF1 the most regularly, whatever they had to say on the site, good or bad.

However I'm not complaining. I've played on BWIN in the past so have some experience of the network.

As I don't frequent this forum all that much, I don't know what you are referring to when you say that certain posters connected to Betfair have obviously posted things that patently aren't true.

Spackers when i quallied to a bf event last yr at the empire there was a load of people who were there who had been invited, when i was talking to some of them and asking how they got there invite, most was that they had been previous players but had not played on bf for years but kept receiving offers to go to see the new improved bf and when they had been to one, it was easy to get a second and third invite, some were off to cheltenham for a day out and some had already been offered man u and chelsea tickets, none of them said they had any intention of playing on bf but as long as they kept getting offers they were going to take them. So i guess the moral is to leave, play elsewhere and when they miss u and send u the emails, attend events get more invites but dont come back to play on here, simplesLaugh

There will hopefully be 25 players attending tonight and approximately 3-4 staff members. The staff normally have a last longer bet amongst themselves to make it competitive and avoid chip dumping. There will be 3 tables all with professional dealers.
Report annie. August 4, 2010 12:59 PM BST
Why betfair pr did you choose the 25 posters to invite at random?  You have players going that, apparently, do not even play on betfair.  I am not talking out of my pocket because I did not enter, but surely you could have rewarded your most loyal customers whether they hated the new betfair or not, they would have given you better feedback.

Those attending should have been picked at random from your best or most loyal customers, not those just posting on this site - which is not very many.

I could have rewarded those that play on the site and post favourably but I wanted to have an open and honest discussion. If people don't like Betfair or the new software we want to hear why.

If we only heard from people who like Betfair2 then no changes would be made. As long as the critism is constructive then we can help shape Betfair2 into a prodcut that everyone will want to use.

This will be our 4th demo event and we have had some really interesting discussions at all of them. I hope tonight is no different.
Looking forward to meeting you all tonight.

If not, as someone who has openly come out and said they woudn't play here again and they want to withdraw their funds (Even though you'll gladly take Betfair's added value at the forum game while giving nothing back), why do you ask? Is it because this forum belongs to you and your mates exclusively?
Report Six of Clubs August 4, 2010 9:35 PM BST
can you point out where i've said that? because i uninstalled bf poker for 18 months until the week before the changeover so i could see
who had bought into the bfwcop via the holding tank. i then swapped over to the new site to check the holding tank there, only to find it wasnt.
nowhere have i made any comments about bf poker 2 or withdrawing any money. but don't let the facts get in the way huh?

as for the forum game, like the demo night, bf choose to sponsor it knowing full well the situation. unlike the demo night, the forum game is open to everyone and all you need to do is turn up and hand over your money. if you think its a waste of their money thats your opinion. i don't turn up because of added value and its not a factor in my decision to come along.

nowhere has anyone said this forum belongs to a group of people exclusively, but i suppose judging from your post you aren't good at reading and comprehension. maybe get your facts straight before you leap in with both feet and nfi?

i dont usually post this much but i'm not going to let sarky comments with no factual basis remain unanswered. if that makes me look like
a charlie to some people, so be it. most of the people who've been around here a few years know me i guess and if they have been to
a bfwcop they have heard my inane and neverending banter, so it goes through to the keeper for them.

Hi all, in addition to what's already been said by those that attended I'd also like to express my gratitude and it was indeed, nice to put names to faces.

Biggest shock of the night was, without doubt, The Klup drinking water and eating salad!!!

Anyway some other things that the BF team said they'd take away/do or brought to our attention.

1) They are going to provide an average duration time for the Ongame regular MTTs....I'm guessing this will be a page on the site.

2) They are looking at reintroducing the 6 shooter - and setting it up with qualifying satellite's.

3) Betfair Live will continue and they are hoping to set up an event for early next year in the UK.

4) The chat box in the main lobby is exclusive to BF players.

5) They are going to seek a software enhancement with Ongame for a 'player finder'.

6) There will not be a 'waiting list' introduced for Cash tables.

7) Current traffic levels are showing 1/3 of the players on Ongame are BF players.

That's all I can recall for now, hope it brings some enlightenment to you!Cool

Nothing against you personally as I'd have taken the opportunity if offered too.

To be honest Betfair, if you are going to lose a lot of your European Players, maybe your next promotion could be a little more transparent for us UK players? Or you never know you may lose a load of them too. Or if you aren't going to do transparent don't post it on here?

I assume this is a dig since I appear to have been 'selected' without putting my name down on this list? This is not the case at all... I actually got invited to the VIP/Key accounts same event the week before - since I have raked over £25k on the site this year. I was unable to attend that date so Betfair kindly offered to let me play in the one the week after.

As someone who plays and rakes a lot on Betfair why shouldn't I be given priority to added value events?

Oh and the draw was completely random imo. I met people who play once a week and others who play 5 times a week. My friend even attended and he hasn't played for nearly 3 months!

For the final time, the digs were aimed at Betfair not you or Klup.

If you read the thread from start to finish (which incidentally I wouldn't bother doing) hopefully you would see this.

Now as many of you have already put it enough is enough. I'll stick to my opinion and the rest of you can stick to yours.

BTW Klup I'm in The City on Monday 16/8 if you fancy meeting up for a beer (Or water if you prefer Shocked) on me to show there are no hard feelings you know how to get hold of me.

Nice to see you all had a good time but it was very London based at short notice. Maybe a little more time and others outside the capital may have a chance of attending, after all flights are only a £2 Ryanair flight away. I've been to a few BF organized events and they are top notch (unlike Boyle's who charged me for food in their IPO).

Anything for us (Norn) Irish players coming up?

APAT (hint, hint).

Hi all,
I thought the whole point of this get together was to get some feedback on the new software from regular players from all levels, not just high stake players or regular posters on this forum, I just think they would have had a much better idea on players feelings had they chosen players from all levels of play.
I know some players that attended and I am sure they would have posted a lot of our forthcomings to Betfair.

Was a good night and good to meet players from all levels. Well looked after, so thanks Betfair. They are going to look at improving some of the major concerns already raised on this forum and repeated on the night. It does not affect me, but I do wonder why a winning high stakes player would continue to play here given the change to the rakeback deal meaning losing players get more. They called it 'feeding the fish' but it didn't make sense to me.
Report annie. August 6, 2010 9:58 PM BST
Can someone please explain how the rake is distributed amongst the players in the game?  And what was the change in the rakeback deal?

I'm not sure I understand why it was preferrable to conduct a legitimate random draw by hand when everyone eligible to enter had access to the client with a built in RNG.

If I were organising the draw, I'd have just created a freeroll lottery tournament in the client with a password advertised on the forum which would alleviate doubts over the legitimacy of the draw whilst allowing me to use the time saved by not having to note down all the names, conduct the draw, verify the winners account details etc to slope off to the toilets for a w*nk.  I'm not sure whether this makes me lazy, smart or cynical.

would have loved to have come to this event, just to meet up with the people that have sold our accounts to an unforgiving software, hope the players that attend will put the views we all are concerned with , not just the freebies on offer,my only gripe is not being able to carry on our Dinkie v Donkie games something that is now lost from betfair to another site.
