This morning Betfair announced that we will be moving to the Ongame poker network at the end of the month. We know many of you will have questions about the new software and promotions so we will be holding a Q&A session on the Betfair Poker forum on Tuesday (13th July) at 6pm (UK Time) with all of the Betfair Poker management team.

Press Release

Betfair Poker and Ongame Network partner

12th  July 2010 – Betfair and Ongame Network jointly announce that Betfair Poker is joining Ongame Network’s global online poker network at the end of July 2010. This landmark agreement between Betfair and Ongame Network sees a significant player liquidity migration to Ongame Network from Betfair Poker’s standalone poker room.

By operating on Ongame Network’s P5 Poker Engine, Betfair Poker will offer its players an enhanced gaming environment, suitable for any poker wallet, with the liquidity to energize cash games and tournaments.

“This move is a conscious effort to place our poker players at the forefront of our product offering. Betfair Poker players will have access to more games, at all times of the day. Both companies are dedicated to the long term improvement to player experience. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Ongame Network.” said Daniel Svard, Head of Betfair Poker.

“Betfair is the ideal kind of long-term partner for Ongame Network: a respected gaming brand and technically mature,” said Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame Network. “In our competitive industry, we welcome the player liquidity and poker knowledge that Betfair brings to our network.”

Some customers have reported trouble passing the upgrade web page form, and receive the error message “Your account details cannot be saved” We have released a fix for this, however please do contact us if you still receive this error message.

Betfair - you say you will communicate with us.  I have no visibility on what is happening or when this mess will be fixed.  You are not communicating adequately!

Given the unacceptable way in which this roll-out is happening, combined with the well-documented bad feedback for the Ongame platform, you are creating a major trust issue in both BF and the new platform.  Why should I risk my money on crashes/disconnections - this is about reliability and trust.

Here is our update from the work carried out last night and this morning to rectify upgrade issues experienced by our customers. We will update this list with any new issues as they crop up. Please note that the instances of upgrade issues has dropped rapidly with fixes applied since our launch, and we’re pleased to be concentrating on ironing out the exceptions. Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience caused to our players and appreciate the patience being shown by those players affected.

1.    Slow upgrade of Betfair Poker 2 (load issue on software installer)

The performance of our installer and web page has been stable since upgrades were applied yesterday to our hardware. We have received no new reported issues here.

2.     “You are not authorised to view this web page” error message on upgrade form

Since our first fix for this error was released yesterday, we have noticed a drastically reduced the number of cases being reported. However, we are aware of customers still receiving this issue and not being able to upgrade to Betfair Poker 2. We are looking into these specific cases and hope to release a fix for this today.

3.     “Your account details cannot be saved” error message on upgrade form

Again, we are aware of these errors being reported and have been able to rectify the larger causes of them (such as the duplicate email issue reported on the Poker forum). This has significantly reduced the number of instances of this error message occurring. However, we are aware of more than one root cause for this error message and continue to work on solutions for these other causes. We will continue to post here as and when we have updates on this.

4.     “Incorrect username / password” error message

We continue to investigate the bug that causes a few customers to receive this error message. This issue is ongoing and we will update when we have a further information on this.

5.     “Your account is blocked” error message
This has been noted as a regional specific issue (affecting Maltese customers only). This will be addressed in due course today.

6.    Access to Betfair Poker 2 for players based in Italy

Please note that our Italian players will have access to Betfair Poker 2 in a release scheduled for later today. We will update here when we have more information on the exact time for this release to be applied.

7.    Mac client download page errors

We notice that some customers receive Java script errors on the Mac download page. This is not preventing them from downloading the software, but does not render the page correctly. We are investigating this and hope to have a fix in place today. Those customers who use Firefox web browser will have to specifically download the file and run it locally.

No Roger,

I don't have an alias as I've been getting the “Your account details cannot be saved" message. The “Incorrect username / password” bug is obviously sporadic, as I've been able to login again, only to get stymied by the former message error.

I'd have put the latter error down to a typo of my behalf were it not for the fact that it happened three consecutive times with me taking great care on second and third attempts to ensure I was inputting correct information.

Billy Mountain,

Where can I obtain details on these incentives?

No you cant, because BF have outsourced poker to ongame, and rather than be able to change the tables from red to blue to green to whatever colour BF wanted, they are now stuck on someone elses platform, with ongame developing to whatever set of features they think are important, not what BF or BFs customers think are important.

Ongame will want to milk as much cash out of the BF customer base before they depart, while expending as little on product development as they can get away with.

They will say "so what you cant see scandi/greeks in the lobby", "so what its 5 players not 6" "so what its blurry, youll get used to it"
Report GrandTilt July 28, 2010 4:45 PM BST
Thanks Froggitt / the12watch

You are correct in so far as product development now lies with ongame, however, this does not mean we cannot influence how the site looks and feel in the future. We will be putting together a list of features we want developed so your feedback and comments will be collated and help dictate this. As one of the larger parteners on the network we expect our views (via your feedback) to be listened to and acted upon in future software updates.

If you wish to make the change less painful for your customers  it would be simple to add some of the old tournements 9 & 6 seaters and 5 & 2 min levels ...

Hi all.

Latest update here from our Product and Technical teams after the work being carried out this afternoon. We have managed to reduce the number of instances of customers encountering errors on download/upgrade, however we fully appreciate how frustrating it is for those of you still meeting these. We are very sorry for this. Please be assured that we are focussing our efforts on getting all our players access to Betfair Poker 2 as fast as possible.

We are now starting to drop issues that we believe are solved from our updates here. We decide this based on the number of instances we monitor in the back end, feedback to Helpdesk and through comments placed here on the forum. Please keep your feedback coming – it is very useful for us.

1.     “You are not authorised to view this web page” error message on upgrade form

We have made changes to our backend hardware which seems to have solved this issue. We have had no new errors reported to us on this since we made these changes, however we continue to monitor the situation closely. Please contact our Helpdesk, if you are still receiving this error message so we can investigate further.

2.     “Your account details cannot be saved” error message on upgrade form

We are due to release a fix later today which we believe will largely mitigate this error. We believe this will cover most instances of this error occurring. We will provide another update on this in due course.

3.     “Incorrect username / password” error message

Investigations show that the majority of these errors occur when users use their alias/password rather than username/password when trying to log in. However, we recognise that using incorrect details is not the only cause and are working on fixes for other causes.

4.    Mac client page errors

We found some JavaScript exceptions on the Mac download page which have been resolved earlier today. We still notice a minor JavaScript exception to the global pages on Betfair which is being investigated, but please note this has zero impact on any of the functionality of the poker web pages.

It a sure thing that when ur promotion are over you will be left with a fragmet of the players you had before the change.

If you look at the treads on the forum you will then notice that allmost all players hate this new software and they have left or vill so soon.

So my advice to you is change back to the old sofware very fast !

They have similar modle of client

1) easy and clear principal lobby
2) in cash game open table with double click
3) in stt or tourney game double click and open lobby, table automatically open
4) GOOD WIEW OF TABLE, CARDS AND CHIPS

Of course maybe this software solution is expensive....

last betfair poker was the worst poker client
this is little minus worst

only good point is 10 players table (if some game because in omaha hi/lo there isn't)

After further work carried out last night and this morning, please see our latest update below. We would like to point out that fixes are being released at a quicker pace now, so please retry if you have received errors listed before.

As stated previously, we are dropping issues we feel have now been solved through previous fixes. However, we still encourage players to get in contact with our Helpdesk if you are receiving errors. This helps us keep a log of them and build up an idea of their scale.

1.    “Your account details cannot be saved” error message on upgrade form

As previously mentioned, there are several causes to this error occurs. We have steadily been releasing fixes in the back end to close off as many of these as possible and now are seeing a much reduced number of instances of this.
We have noted that some of these errors occur when we do not have full details for customers (for example, customer address lines). For those customers still receiving this error, they should call our Helpdesk to fill these details in and then retry accessing Betfair Poker 2. We cannot guarantee that this will fix this issue, but it is one of the central reasons behind this error occurring.

2.     “Incorrect username / password” error message

Please note that our last update on this still stands.

3.    Insufficient funds

A note to our players here. Some players have received this notice which also prevents them from buying in to poker tables. This is due to daily loss limits across all Betfair products also being applied to Poker. Players may see that their account is in credit, but if they have met this loss limit on other products (or on Poker), they will not be able to buy in to tables on Betfair Poker 2 and will receive this error message.

Please note that this feature is part of our commitment to offer safe play on our site. Please contact our Helpdesk or go onto My Account > My Profile on the Betfair.com website if you would like further information on your account loss limit or would like to review the limits currently set.

5.    T&C’s page error

We are aware of an issue for some customers who are unable to get past our Betfair Poker 2 T&C’s page. The symptom is that players who accept the T&C’s are then sent back to the same page, and are unable to progress through the upgrade and access Betfair Poker 2. We are investigating this and will have an update in due course.

What is the logic in being able to set a loss limit for poker (and arcade games etc) exclusively... but not exclusively for sports betting??

Thanks...in advance

We never got told they got banned but none of us ever saw them again so just assumed they had been. Now over 2 years later and on the first day i play on new site i see them sitting at same table Shocked

Just wondering if new site means new slate Laugh

Hi all. We have managed to bring instances of players not being able to upgrade to a few exceptions now. Please see our latest update below.

1.            “Your account details cannot be saved” error message on upgrade form

We have released fixes throughout yesterday that have largely solved this. We still notice some exceptions to this with customers based in Serbia and Montenegro and are working on a fix for these players.

2.             “Incorrect username / password” error message

We have recorded a large number of these errors being spawned when customers have special characters in their password (for example & and % signs). We are working on a fix for this, however would urge customers who do receive this error message and do have special characters in their password to update their password in the My Account > My Profile section of the Betfair website.

3.            Insufficient funds

Please note that our previous update still stands.

To reply to forum feedback on this feature, we are looking into ways that we can better manage limits across Sports & Poker at Betfair. However, to set expectation, we do not think this will be part of a short-term solution.

5.        T&C’s page error

We believe this error to be resolved and have received no new feedback of players receiving this. Please let us know if you still experience this error via our Helpdesk.

Indeed. The simple way would be to create an option to set an exclusive sports limit much like the poker/arcade/exchange limits. You can still retain the general account limit if you want.

Suggest that in yer next meeting lad [;)]. Took me a while to come up with it but I dont mind sharing.

New skin much better than the last though. Ignore these relics who would argue against any change.

Here is the latest update from our Product and Technical teams on our upgrade to Betfair Poker 2.

1. “Incorrect username / password” error message

Following a rise in occurrences faced by customers over the weekend, we released a patch yesterday morning which reduced instances of this error below previous levels. We continue to find a solution for all causes for this issue, and hope to have a final solution for it early this week.

As a reminder, please note our previous update on one of the main causes for this:

We have recorded a large number of these errors being spawned when customers have special characters in their password (for example & and % signs). We are working on a fix for this, however would urge customers who do receive this error message and do have special characters in their password to update their password in the My Account > My Profile section of the Betfair website.

2. T&C’s page error

We know that this is still affecting a small number of users and we are in the process of releasing a new fix for this issue.

3. “Your account details cannot be saved” error message on upgrade form

We have fixed the vast majority of causes for this issue, and believe this error to now be fixed except for users from specific regions. If you are not from these regions, and still receive this error message when trying to upgrade, please get in contact with us.

We know that players from Serbia and Montenegro continue to receive this error message. We are working on a fix for customers from these regions.

4. Insufficient funds

Our previous update on this still stands.

We have been monitoring the forums and are acutely aware of the negative feedback expressed by forumites who are unhappy with some of the decisions that we have made in recent weeks.
We fully understand and appreciate your frustrations and take the insults with a pinch of a salt and a smile, however, the core sentiment behind them is not lost on us, nor is the fact that our customers feel compelled to write such things.

Ultimately we are accountable to you, the paying customer, so we would like to take the time to explain the reasoning behind  some of the decisions we have made recently in our poker room and also address some of the points raised on the forum over the last few days.

I think an appropriate place to start would be the perceived inaccessibility of the decision makers within the Betfair poker team. Whilst it is not always apparent, we do read the forum on a daily basis and take onboard all of your feedback and comments. We don’t always have time to reply to every post or thread but rest assured your feedback does reach us, we are receptive to it, and we do act upon it. We genuinely welcome and encourage your comments (and criticisms), especially where poker promotions are concerned. It is with this valuable feedback that we can continue to improve your experience of our poker product and the delivery of our promotions.

The biggest forum topic of the day, and one we feel compelled to give our feedback on, is the decision to remove the Betfair exclusive tournaments from our schedule.  In short, this was purely a commercial decision based solely on the cost we were incurring in running these tournaments. In the ten days that these tournaments ran, they performed particularly badly, with an average overlay of over 40%, per day.  It’s regrettable that we weren’t able to communicate the cancellation in advance, but as I’m sure you can appreciate as a business we cannot run tournaments at a significant loss for a sustained period of time, not least for the sake of our margins, but for the sake of other customers too.

Tournament overlays impact promotional budgets limiting our ability to invest in innovative and valuable promotions, bonuses, live event qualification and much more. In our last 6 months as an independent platform, we maintained our guaranteed tournaments for as long as possible, sustaining overlays that ran into many hundreds of thousands of dollars. We obviously would have much preferred to spend this money on headline promotions and valuable bonuses that reward all players and not the very few, but that was the nature of the beast. It is partly for this reason that we took the decision to join the Ongame network. Free from the burden of crippling overlays, we have invested some $500,000 in promotions for the launch of Betfair Poker 2 alone, which is on top of the $220,000+ per month we will invest in our poker promotions going forwards. I believe this is testament to our commitment to becoming the number one choice for online poker in Europe.

That said, it is certainly one of our top priorities to relaunch an exclusive Betfair tournament schedule and you can expect this to be implemented towards the start of next month.

With regards to the ongoing saga of the promotional leader boards (or lack of), I won’t bore you with the precise technical details but suffice to say we have experienced unforeseen issues with our data feeds since the upgrade to Betfair Poker 2. This has meant we have been unable to regularly update promotional leader boards, namely the $60K Points Race, the $30,000 Sit n Go ROI Challenge and the new $20,000 MTT leader board.

We were fully aware of the huge technical and logistical obstacles that faced us and made meticulous plans over the past year to overcome these challenges. Unfortunately, the very nature of a technologically driven business means that unforeseen and unavoidable difficulties can and will occur, no matter how well prepared you are, as was the case here.

I am pleased to say that we have now made the payments for the SNG ROI Challenge and the $60K Points Race and we have published the $20,000 MTT leader board covering the period August 1st to yesterday.

On behalf of all the team here at Betfair poker I would like offer my sincere apologies to all players affected by the technical difficulties that have blighted the promotional leader boards for the last two weeks. We are now getting on top of these issues and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued patience and understanding whilst we work on resolving these nagging technical problems.

See you at the tables,

Betfair Poker Team

Seeing as you listen, the STT's are now bingo, could you get the network to try some Double stack STT's at all levels? This would go some way to alleviate the bingo.
Report wingdings2 August 11, 2010 6:30 PM BST
A good response and good to hear that there will be some BF MTT's in the future. Why though, didn't you just cut the GTD's down to a realistic level? For example, if you had made the turbo chaser a $3k gtd, we would still have the tournament and you wouldn't have the overlay. Yes, there would have been the usual moans about reduced GTD's, but I'm sure the majority would rather have kept the tournies rather than lose them.

Well done for finally sorting out the leaderboards [;)]
