This morning Betfair announced that we will be moving to the Ongame poker network at the end of the month. We know many of you will have questions about the new software and promotions so we will be holding a Q&A session on the Betfair Poker forum on Tuesday (13th July) at 6pm (UK Time) with all of the Betfair Poker management team.

Press Release

Betfair Poker and Ongame Network partner

12th  July 2010 – Betfair and Ongame Network jointly announce that Betfair Poker is joining Ongame Network’s global online poker network at the end of July 2010. This landmark agreement between Betfair and Ongame Network sees a significant player liquidity migration to Ongame Network from Betfair Poker’s standalone poker room.

By operating on Ongame Network’s P5 Poker Engine, Betfair Poker will offer its players an enhanced gaming environment, suitable for any poker wallet, with the liquidity to energize cash games and tournaments.

“This move is a conscious effort to place our poker players at the forefront of our product offering. Betfair Poker players will have access to more games, at all times of the day. Both companies are dedicated to the long term improvement to player experience. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Ongame Network.” said Daniel Svard, Head of Betfair Poker.

“Betfair is the ideal kind of long-term partner for Ongame Network: a respected gaming brand and technically mature,” said Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame Network. “In our competitive industry, we welcome the player liquidity and poker knowledge that Betfair brings to our network.”

So much for being innovative. I can see the staleness creeping into your brand.

think im playing golf tomoro tea time. can someone ask if they will be honouring existing cake deals or will we have to renegotiate/have set ones ? or indeed any at all.

i'd like to think those that stuck with the site through thick and thin would get some recognition.

Chip i think they are giving you the option to stick with the current rb deal or take part in the new players scheme. Will stand corrected but thats how i see it?...

Existing rb deals stand. You will have option to switch to loyalty bonus, but personally I'm gonna keep my cake

This move is obviously both good and bad but bottom line is - old platform was just taking us round in circles with no growth and a steady decline in tournaments. We had 18k and 11k, now have a 10k and 5k... That tells you most of the story.

I love the current platform, I didn't want the change, but it's logical to move on and try get with the times.

If I had the decision - I'd would have just bought a whole platform  outright.

Ovalman is a fish on ongaming but I'm 100% certain its not me. For a start, I would never consider playing a $20 PLO game.

Ongame is BWin (Betandwin)

When: 12 Jul 10 13:39
ok, and which sites does ongame currently cover?

what's this likely to mean for our player base and quality?

reason i love betfair is for the fishy italians/cypriots...as a pretty poor player myself i dont think it would be worthwhile to play on a site with 'average' quality players!

True, Titan, but hopefully those guys will come over with us and then we have those players PLUS more players from the network. No more waiting 30 minutes for a SNG to fill up eh! And it'll look a damn site better too i'd guess.

Just read a few reviews of the ongame network. lmao. Nice one betfair.....

CONNECTION PROBLEMS
The worst thing is that sometimes I get connection problems that seem to be on the server side ...
This is more so than any of the other sites I played at ...
In a few days I have lost 2 or 3 hands because of that ...

THE BAD

Disconnects from the server side are more common than on any of the major networks, fortunately you often get reconnected before the hand is done but it has happened that the server threw me out and when I came back I was very low ...

Hand histories are viewed in text form

No rakeback offered

10% rake at headsup and turbo games too (where many other sites have lower rake)

Software is the worse on the internet : with the last update (which should improve multitabling), you cannot play more than 4 tables with a computer with 3GB memory. Many disconnections (hand folded), no timebank, no waiting list. Programmers really sucks: each release is worse than the previous one, and we need to wait several months to get something just ok. Then a new release came and so on ...
- Support is bad since skins cannot answer themselves and need to escalate the problem to OnGame : it tooks 15 days to get hand histories ...
- Standard valuable player loyalty program sucks
- Many reg at 5max (easy to get a 30BI downswing due to very aggressive games)

Watch out,

this software has become a disaster after "upgrade" last month. Now the software regularly collapses, so every game is cancelled, even if you are already heads-up in a tournament, or having the nuts in a cash game.

But even worse: you always HAVE to know, how much money you had BEFOREHAND, so you have a chance to get the money back. You must know which tables you froze.

This is a pure disaster and I will leave them as soon as bonus is played out.

With this new software update it become a pain the a** to play there.

Personally i played only twice since the update till then was playing almost daily.

If u don t have latest pc forget it about...i can play only at one table and this thing make my cpu work at 90-100%;i've tried at 2 tables....frozen screen, etc.

All the other things as "traffic, game selection and quality of players

- Bonuses, freerolls and other perks offered

- Deposit and withdrawal methods" etc doesn't t really matter if u can't play.

Ongame has one of the worst software and management on the internet. Their soft always crashes, you loose your money because of that. I have had pots that were 200-300 dollars high that I lost beacause the tables crashed. You have to write to ongame to get ur money back. DO NOT GO TO ONGAME UNTIL THEY FIX THEIR STUFF

The new soft is unbeliavable bad. Its slow, and takes your money(if the table crashes your money is stuck for 24-48H) there are poor players but now more and more regulars. So 6/10

seems to me that this is a typical Betfair idea. Upgrade to the worst network available and p1ss their long standing loyal customers off yet again...

Thanks guys

ok so it looks like ongame consists of a few small (and therefore probably fishy) rooms. layout imo isn't so important imo apart from aesthetics...nobody likes change but we all become used to it after a while.

they'll be running some more promotions and i get the impression you can actually redeem points for cash/prizes which is nice.

holdem manager and pokertracker compatible which is pretty huge.

bwin are a european site frequented by the biggest betting fish in europe, heavily advertised in italy especially. so on paper...more tables filling up with lower quality...I'm happy!

only worry is whether this brings in scandinavian sharks too

Have mostly played at Betfair, but have tryed out different network. closed my poker account after day 1 at Betsafe, that belongs too Ongame, due too the **** graphics and bad software. ongame had some succes , cause Bwin has been spending alot of cash on promoting there site.

No doubt that Ongame got some of the softest competition online, but if you loved Betfairs graphics, you will hate playing at ongame

I'll give it a bash for a month, mostly played betfair due to making money on really poor players - don't think i'm a great player. Sad day indeed but have to look at facts. Sit and Goes even at low level take ages to fill up and tournments are getting less and less.

Hi Wulfman nice to see you on here, maybe we will play against each other in the future although maybe a good thing as you beat me far too easily :D

Cheers

I've just sent this email to betfair poker. Was there any point?

Dear Betfair Poker,

What are you doing????

You are destroying the very essence of what makes betfair poker so attractive to your regular players, its originality.

Your poker site will look like every other site on the market. The cards, chip count and name fonts will be tiny, hidden in a forest of clutter and nonsense, such as avatars and chairs (and no doubt, in December, Christmas Trees).

You're also going to lose your community feel, where the chat facility is lost in the spew that the dealer comes out with, like what the flop cards are (as if we can't see them on the table already) and what player 3's last action was (folding, raising, or what he's just eaten for tea).

There is generally a good spirit between all of the regulars on Betfair Poker '1', whether they play each other often or just now and again. That will go, replaced by virtual anonimity surrounded nobody you've ever played before. Thus, taking some enjoyment away from the experience.

Basically, you're not offering anything more than any of site on the market so what exactly is it that you are promoting?

I understand the need to make the site profitable, or more profitable but is this really the answer?
Becoming a clone of every other site?

Betfair has made its name by being original, innovative, cutting edge. Betfair Poker 2 might as well be called Online Poker 3,412.

I suppose somebody in betfair thinks this is a good idea. For what its worth, I don't.

Lol, you are joking?  The software is dreadful, always has been since day 1.  I gave up after my laptop nearly burnt a whole in my table trying to run it.

Good Move betfair, May even play again on the site now you will have decent liquidity and better Mtt guarantees etc .

But you will have to get ongame to make the software improve it asap !

At least rake has been sorted.

Thanks Bob. Mrs D, I was referring to betfair as a whole, not the poker. By doing this, they are conforming to the norm, not standing out from the crowd.

At least when bf p1 crashed, we got some tidy apology freerolls out of it. What will happen on bf p2, 'not us gov, blame the other guys'??
By:
Mrs D
When: 12 Jul 10 19:57
Yes, I know you meant the whole Betfair but I am interested in the poker.  This will be bf p3.  Bf p1 was on a shared poker platform and this forum was full of people, normally at the most a day between the post at the top and the one at the bottom. Waiting lists to go on forum weekend.  They decided to be 'innovative and original' and look what you are now left with?  No-one on here, no-one playing the site because it is rubbish.  Sorry but they have to do something before the whole thing folds.  When they went on their own it could have worked except they decided to buy out a dreadful piece of software that has never delivered.
By:
Six of Clubs
When: 12 Jul 10 20:19
for me it was not so much about the software as about the attitude. i left because they did (and still do) absolutely nothing about collusion. rather than instilling confidence in their players, who are their customers mind, they came out with all sorts of crap about why they couldnt tell you the results of their enquiry. add to that the almost lottery-winning chance of getting refunded, and i beat a fast retreat elsewhere.

its such a shame because the people i met at the forum games who worked at betfair were fantastic people, every single one of them, and the forum itself was a real community. the whole thing is such a monumental ****úp on so many levels it just beggars belief.
