I'll wait for the fully qualified medical practioners that frequent the poker forum to comment.

I have been through all this, (and made it out the other side :-) ).
First there is not really ONE answer. The solution is to keep mixing things up.
Try using your mouse left, (or right handed if your a Gayer), handed for spells, (especially when it is playing up). left handed is not that hard, and takes only a few days to do it by auto processing.
The MX Revo & similar mouses are very good, as are tracker balls.
Rotate between these to minimise the effects.
A padded armwrest goes a long way too.
Additionally you may want to experiment with a different chair, and or a laptop or monitor arm to change your whole seating position.
With seating etc there is again not ONE solution and rotation of different positions is the key.
Lastly it is now becoming known to eye doctors that laptop users are overdeveloping the upper eye muscles due to looking down at the screen on your lap. This can have short and long term issues. It is generally known that males can have fertility issues from the heat off a laptop, as well as gastro issues if you are suscpetible. Therefore laptop users should aim to raise the general height of the screen, (so that your neck is not stooped and your eyeballs are looking directly ahead). Laptop stands, notebook arms, and even bookstands can do the job. In turn this will go a way to combatting the RSI issues in the arm, especially if rotation is applied.
In the short term, seek a physio for the RSI. firstly to prevent it getting worse, and secondly if you remember the excersises you can usually apply them at the first sign of it in future, (and then switch to left handed etc), and keep the discomfort down to a warning period.
A quick on for the lower arm. stand side on to your desk. Place palm face downwith finger tips pointing backwards, (ie the opposite to your eyes), and push upwards using the arm whilst planting the palm flat. you should feel the sensation as the arm re-stretches. do for 2 mins 5 or 6 times per day. Shoulders are a whole diff ball game and you really ought to see a GOOD physio. It could even be a trapped nerve from caused by the lower arm.
Good luck :-)

GB - the ergo mouses are the logitech MX and Revo types. you can, (and should), have a test of one in local PC world etc, as some "fit" you better than others.
They do a similar line in keyboards that may help if you type a lot, (even if in work and not at home), but I couldnt say much more on those.
