No argument he deserved it as it was one of the most careless accidents I've seen but I'm trying to figure out why this was worth a grid penalty while Grosjean's accident deserved a suspension?

this one looked like a brake issue to me at the time - he was so far behind perez and vergne on approach. it didn't look like he'd missed his braking point from the overhead shot either so i'd just accepted it was a car problem. assuming i was wrong though, i'd still suggest that grosjean was over punished rather than schumacher being under punished.

both have caused multiple accidents that season, unless it was a technical failure equal penalty would have been justified, imo a 1 race ban for Schumi as well

If Mercedes could have proved a technical problem it would be unlikely for him to get any penalty.
Looked like he hadnt got everything back up to temp after the safety car and just got caught out.
