Remember the "legal" traction control?
The 112 degree engine?
the mass damper system?
the front facing exhausts?

Lotus' latest trick is a new adjustable ride height device! Operated by the driver via a pedal, the device stabalises the ride height under braking, improving aerodynamics and overall stability during the braking phase (indirectly improving tyre wear). Ok some of this teams crazy ideas have been far from successful over the years, but some have been devestatingly effective and this sounds like a great plan if they can get it through scrutineering.

As usual, Ferrari have wasted no time in trying to get everyone else's innovative designs BANNED. Stefano Domenicali:-

"What you are talking about, is more related to having stability under braking," explained Domenicali. "It is a system that I know there have been some documents in writing between the FIA and the teams.

"We are waiting for the final confirmation if this kind of devices will be acceptable or not. But for sure we are looking around these sorts of devices to see if they contribute to a performance. But we need to wait and see what will be the reaction to the FIA on that."

so basically, theyre going to wait on a decision on its legality before deciding whether or not to copy it! you've got to love ferrari, incessantly making a mockery of the word 'Sport'!

it'll be a cold day in hell before i take advice from you bikeboy Plain

UPDATE
This system's been given the green light anyway, turns out the system is NOT driver operated but is activated by a connection between the brake torque and the suspension and as such is not classed as a movable device. Excellent news as it provides another unknown into the equation. You'd be a brave man to be laying OR backing Lotus at this stage!
