Alonso might as well try to go to the end on his current softs, even if they suck he'll have pit stop window on 4th and if it works he'll win.
Report book May 29, 2011 2:01 PM BST
i reckon alonso might not have to pit again & so will win the race.
Report Virgin May 29, 2011 2:01 PM BST
Be great to see if Button can pass Vettel on the track ....

alonso has to pit again,so should be 50-1 +
Report LazyRamper May 29, 2011 2:07 PM BST
He doesn't, his tyres will be poor at the end but providing they aren't as bad as the Mercedes were Vettle/Button aren't passing.
Report book May 29, 2011 2:07 PM BST
could someone tell me why alonso is only 4.5,when hes 3rd & has to pit again has he hasnt used soft tyres yet

could someone tell me why alonso is only 4.5,when hes 3rd & has to pit again has he hasnt used soft tyres yet

He has.

Both he and Vettle switched for the first stop, which is why Button was a 1s a lap faster.
Report book May 29, 2011 2:10 PM BST
thats what the bbc commentators just said.
Report Virgin May 29, 2011 2:12 PM BST

I was saying last season that Mclaren need new strategists. They cost the team untold points last season and done even worse at at this point compared to last season. Astonishing.
Report baracouda30 May 29, 2011 2:16 PM BST
Slight aftertime but I've done a Button/Westwood double today.

Surely Vettel can't stay out? Or is he just worried about alonso and giving up the race win for getting 2nd and Alonso 3rd?
Report LazyRamper May 29, 2011 2:17 PM BST
Both Vettel and Alonso have nothing to lose by running to the end.
Report MillionaireMaker May 29, 2011 2:17 PM BST
Why is vettel 4/1?  He should be 50/1.  Can't win if he pits and can't win if he don't be way too slow.  Only way he can win is if alonso and button fail to finish or make a big big mistake
Report DonNo1 May 29, 2011 2:18 PM BST
Hmmm, this is interesting
Report DonNo1 May 29, 2011 2:19 PM BST
Not going to pit
Report MillionaireMaker May 29, 2011 2:19 PM BST
button is going to catch him with about 10 laps to go though , and he will only be getting slower.  Would take a miracle to stop the pass
Report MillionaireMaker May 29, 2011 2:20 PM BST
3/1 now vettel.  Wish i had a few £k in my bank would lay the fook out of him
Report DonNo1 May 29, 2011 2:21 PM BST
But Alonso in the way as well
Report MillionaireMaker May 29, 2011 2:22 PM BST
he won't be in the way when he passes vettel.

Be a ding dong towards the end between button and alonso imo
Report LazyRamper May 29, 2011 2:23 PM BST
Alonso's tyres are going to be pretty average and you need a big jump to get past here.
Report book May 29, 2011 2:23 PM BST
nice to have an exciting monaco grand prix for a change
Report ArmchairIdiot May 29, 2011 2:23 PM BST
Vetttel could win this due to Alonso trying to preserve 2nd from Button.
