I remember a few races ago one of the teams was having brake problems at a circuit - think it was Red Bull - if so they could suffer a bit at Canada.

McLaren have closed up by the look of it and I reckon another Hamilton win could be in the offing. Be interesting so see if Turkey was just a blip for Ferrari - I reckon they'll do better at Canada but not sure they would be good enough to really challenge for pole or win.

It'll also be interesting to see what the circuit's like now - I remember it pretty much falling apart a few years ago. Past form would suggest Schumacher has a shout at a podium (7 times winner), Kubica has also taken his only win here and is doing wonders with an improving the Renault
so he could be an outside chance too.

I don't believe the GP2 guys will have run here so Hulkenburg, Petrov etc may lose out in the tail end points chase to more experienced drivers like Barrichello.

1.01 whatever happens there'll be senseless bickering between the Hamilton haters and Hamilton haters haters :P

Canada is statistically Schumacher's 2nd best track ever. He qualifies around 30% better than his career average, and his race results are more than 40% better.

It's one of Rosberg's best too.

If Merc have finally made some development progress I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them on the podium.

Think Schumacher looks the best value bet at the odds so far, and Vettel/Webber look like the best value lays.
Report SamH_123 June 8, 2010 12:24 PM BST
Webber has been better than Vettel for the past 3 races has he not?
Surprised to still see Webber going off so much longer (5.1) than Vettel (3.8).

I had a go at Schumacher podium, sounds a good bet.
Report unknown42 June 8, 2010 7:01 PM BST
Alonso say's he could have easily won Monaco and this track is similar in the way that you need a soft car over the bumps and good mechanical grip. Add in the long straights where Ferrari is quicker than red bull and it looks pretty good.

Mclaren could be good but they were poor over the bumps and chicanes of Monaco so i have my doubts.

The Renault of kubica could surprise as it should suit most of this track, but their lack of f-duct and weak engine could be a issue on the long straights.

Red bull might be OK, but again their weak engine is an issue and numerous brake failures could spell disaster on this track which is seriously hard on brakes. On top of that there are no long sweeping turns where they can get the most out of there superior down force.

Merc could be good if they have made their car any less draggy on the straights.

Overall impossible to predict. I expect it to be very tight at the front between all 5 teams, especially if it rains which it apparently will.
Report Taylor's world June 8, 2010 9:44 PM BST
I think that its between Redbull and Mclaren.  Everybody eles is miles of the pace.  Are Redbull introducing the f-duct?

Also by the results of canda it shows the most skillfull drivers do best. so on that basis lewis wins as he will have a decent car.
Report Green Board June 9, 2010 12:40 PM BST
Some interesting points from Unknown there and I think Alonso is starting to look good value at 17/18's, be interesting to see how good their aero update is. Also a bit concerned at how stiff the McLaren is and think Hamilton is too short.
Report didier dogbreath June 9, 2010 8:50 PM BST
i think the ferrari's will be quick round the tight part of the circuit, it just depends how much time they lose on the straights, alonso cud be the best in a top 6 finish market, hamilton to win and if it rains he'll lap everybody!

No chat a few hours before Quali....?

C'mon boys, what's the bet tonight? Grin

I'm interested to see if we again witness tremendous pace from Red Bull during FP2.

Lewis Hamilton 2.4 to win Shocked with soft tyres on at the start ....  bound to go higher after a few laps .... (imo)
Report TopTier June 12, 2010 9:42 PM BST
Might get lucky with the weather at the start. Price totally dependant on that.
Report bb66 June 13, 2010 12:45 AM BST
not only weather, a safety car after lap 1 can also rescue the race for Ham doing a pit stop for tyre change like Alonso in MC.

I hate how hte SC often influences races and can decide the whole championship!
Report Green Board June 13, 2010 9:51 AM BST
I reckon if he pitted that early he'll be too far down the order. Alonso has got a chance of doing well here I reckon but he's going to need a great drive and a bit of luck.
Report bb66 June 13, 2010 12:18 PM BST
if he pits during SC period he won't lose that much time, being last in the line he should be able to overtake 10-15 cars with ease, and hte time he loses during that phase the others will lose changing their tyres.
Report Peanuts June 13, 2010 1:17 PM BST
Struggling to identify the right bet and the value bet. Hamilton far too short and Red Bull's too great a reliability doubt here. Can Alonso beat Hamilton? Can Kubica get a podium if the Red Bulls' wear their tyres our trying to get past Ham/brakes fail?

Any recommendations? This looks a tough one to bet on, especially with possible weather.

Report bestchamp June 13, 2010 4:03 PM BST
I will bet on Vettel, because Webber got this 5 place penalty and Hamilton is on soft tyres (and that could be a own goal imo)

Well done to people who profited.
Report subbuteo master June 13, 2010 4:25 PM BST
I feel gutted even though I profited.

Instead of laying the 16k in the podium market i was fannying around in the winners. Would have been at least 10k up before the start if I had done.

Next time I won't make the same mistake. ffs
