well under this years rules, the fastest laps tend to be set towards the end of the race when the fuel loads are at their lightest. however at this stage of the race some drivers are nursing tyres and are not in a position to attack. this means that anyone who doesnt really have anything to gain from going fast at the end, wont bother.

imo, the best strategy for fastest lap is to have a bet in running on one of the drivers in the top 4 teams who is trying to catch someone for position after the last pit stops. hamilton is barcelona last week was a classic example, red bull dominant on outright pace but hamilton took fastest lap as he had something to gain whe nthe fuel was lightest.

It is worth keeping an eye on this market for arbs though.  Often you can back a driver for fastest lap and then lay them for pole at a shorter price.

It seems as though the pug munters only bother to check the pole market and accept the worse prices often on offer there.

the driver on pole tries to win by going as slowly as possible to do so. Its the cars pushing to make up places that are more likely to set fastest lap.

Despite what budvar says it is sometimes worth backing the pole sitter for fastest lap because sometimes in the race the cars don't go as fast as in qualifying (depending on the weather etc.) so the pole sitter already has a good time in the bag which can be difficult for the others beat.
