Forget changes to the scoring system and refuelling and qualification and tyres.
Simply concentrate first and foremost on changing the cars so they can follow eachother easier so they can overtake.

Considering all the changes made ahead of the 2009 season to try and reduce dirty air for the following car, they scored a bit of an own goal by allowing the double diffuser cars the go ahead.

Supposedly during the development process the teams usually consult at some level to make sure they are interpreting what they can and can't do correctly -
it would have made sense to cut the double diffuser loophole out at the earliest opportunity as these cars are clearly every bit as difficult to follow closely as those pre the 2009 rule changes (maybe even worse! ).

Of course next season we'll find out just how big a part of the problem the diffuser issue is with it's ban in the meantime if Bridgestone can offer some quicker wearing tyres to force two stopping we might at least be more likely to see a shake up during the race...whether they want their brand to be associated with quickly deteriorating tyres of course may be an issue !!

get Lola to make a small low downforce front and rear wing to be used by all the teams

Totally agree with the downforce reduction. These cars are braking far too late into the corners and only able to follow one line through them. Make the cars much less stuck to the floor and classic outbraking manouevers will be back :-)

Race starts with drivers on one side of the track the cars on the other. They have to sprint across and get it started.

Result of the last race decides the grid, winner at the back, second second from back etc.

Bald tyres only in the wet.

Like the idea of the litre of vodka before each racee.

When coming in for a pit stop, drivers have to get out of the car and eat a bacon and egg sandwich with a boiling hot mug of tea.

Qualifying gains points 12 10 8 6 5 4 3 2 1

Then a Long and shot race

Long race 75% of normal distance.

Points 25 15 12 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

Long race starts in traditional qualifying order.

Short Race 25% of normal distance...with the cars remaining in reverse qualifying order.

12 11 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

The short race would then become the t20 of motor sport. With the small teams having a fighting chance of scoring some decent points. The slower cars at the front congesting the field so obviously... this would create the much needed excitement this sport needs instead of the dull last 25% of the race you so often get.

Obviously the amount of points would need playing about with. But a good idea? Or is this too dangerous?

There should only really be one rule regarding the cars and that is setting maximum dimensions, everything else should be allowed.

Formula 1 is meant to be the pinnacle of motor sport, but all the rules do is try to slow the cars down and even them up, but the teams should just be left to build the fastest cars possible. How are the teams meant to be innovative when they have such a tight set of parameters to work in?

On the track they should remove all the safety barriers and run off areas, that would sort the men from the boys.

drivers must complete pull up their cars and complete the last lap on foot. any lapped cars will continue driving around whilst this is happening, just to make it more interesting.

We then get a bona fide champion driver and champion constructor.

Insist the fuel tanks hold 5 litres less. We can then return to the days when drivers had to slosh their cars from side to side to extract the last few drops of fuel on the last lap.

One of the problems is F1 spends so much money conning the public into believing that F1 is interesting and talking the race up that dissapointment and anticlimax is inevitabe when the actual event is seen.

As always, the most exciting races happen when the leaders are mixed up, conditions are changeable, and performance (tyres) variable. In other words, it's variation that gives excitement. How to get that kind of variance in every race?
