I don't understand the reasoning behind the tyre rule, can anyone explain why:
2 types of tyre must be used there are no tyre changes
I can't understand why teams can't just use whichever tyre is best for the situation, and allow the drivers to nail it without worrying too much about the wear. Seems a bit silly.
The tyre rule is there because there is only one make of tyre and that company invests shed loads of money in providing the tyres each year. Without tyre changes tyres would largely only be mentioned when they blew or wore out. Tyre companies wants their name to be mentioned so that they get publicity but not in a negative way, hence a mandatory tyre change ensures discussion about tyres.
