It osunds like a stupid idea to me.

"Hamilton said that the idea was to give young drivers who would otherwise not get a chance to test an F1 car a chance to prove their potential."

There are plenty of other classes for good young drivers to show there potential. If they have not been spotted in the lower classes what on earth makes Hamilton think they will shine in an F1 car?

lack of f1 car experience has been a generally accepted factor in the poor performances of alguersuari and particularly grosjean. the latter was a solid, fast driver in gp2 and was made to look very silly in f1 due to his total lack of time in the car.
