Woods needs to spend the next few hours at the range, his swing was in pieces today. level par was good score the way he drove the ball.

It's some of the worst golf i've ever seen tonight Henrik on 18 was ridicolous, Tiger wasn't much better on 17 and 18, Phil on 9, 10 and 12 has been hacking around like a 20 handicapper and Rory got away with only dropping 1 shot on 10 and 11 after 2 shocking drives.

The wet course is playing havoc...usually balls would bounce around but not anymore...stopping exactly where they are aimed and is really causing havoc.

3 week holiday might have something to do with it

He has drove the ball sh|t since the 10th, drive on 10 and 11 where awful into the trees. His drive on 13 caught a branch and left him miles back yet he still went for the green in 2 and left it in Rays Creek.

The thing about this Masters

Long Hitters usually are less accurate massive disadvantage the way the course is play
Short Hitters more accurate and can keep the ball out of trouble

Short Hitters will be overpowered eventually tho and Long Hitters can get away with it if other part of the game up to par.

Hard to count anyone out, Rory just seems not the same as last year.

Brilliant 71 from McIlroy in an entirely different sense, hugely important finish.

I have had a premonition.........Jason Dufner wins 42.0 now.

Rory did well to get away with a 71 as Dan said, his driving went to pot at the turn so to be only 4 behind is a good result. There is a good score out there for the likes of Rory once he finds the fairway. With the greens soft if he gets the ball in the right positions he can go flag hunting.

Phil played like a 20 odd handicapper for the most part and somehow managed to get out of it at +2, he is still not out of it if he can get it together but he needs major improvement with his driving (his swing looked all over the shop) but as with Rory the way the course is playing if Phil can hit some fairways (big IF) he could post a score.

Coudn,t even get the weather right yesterday.Westwood was quite brilliant left a few out there as well,Rory for  top Gb+ ire did very well the last two holes after being out of sorts all day.Overall still looking open added Crane(75) and Singh(130) in the outright and couldn,t resist a little on Stallings(330) and Chapell(580).Shaping up to be a great tournament.

good first day, decided to green up and relax for the weekend, i've  3 out of first 5 in betting running for me, but westwood still my biggest winner if can continue his tee to green, his putting the only worry and the greens might get faster.. he defo  could have been a few shots better off except for a few lipped puts.

hopefully gonna be an exciting weekend, i'd say rory would be the happiest of the golfers after day 1, esp with his bad start. gl all.

Agreed, he came good yesterday after his dreadful start on day 1.  I have traded the field well and have loads of runners. Howell iii, Kuchar, Dufner, Hanson and Stenson are my biggest greens.  I dont have any of the fancied golfers though.  Looking forward to another 7 hours today

A little bit of 7/4 for 5 places here(10.5 win)rather than 1/4 1-4 at 8/1 for Phil Com2,hard not to see him involved alright,Went with Rory at a little better than 7/2 last night,thought it was very fair considering he,s 1 off and was 6,s pre start.

Have not been in this good shape in a major heading into the weekend since Rorys massacre in the US Open last year.

Rory and Phil are lurking nicely, Dufner in the lead for the time being anyway and even Furyk, Molinari and Scott all within 6 of the lead. I hope i'm this happy heading into tomorrows round

At the dinner/party of whatever it was after the Ryder Cup Rory went over to Phil who was not drinking and poured a pint over his head. I think he said he went all the way to China the next week to apoligise to him about it.

Presumably he will do a lot of greening up[never thought i would use that modern expression]but still sensational tipping all the same.

After the last 2 years scars are always going to be there. He does some of the most unbelievable things at the Masters that I have never seen before. He just falls apart.

McEllroy has been having too much pole, and is obviosly not able for it, a plug if ever there was one........ bet you the Brits wont be claiming now......

Peter Hanson has never experienced the kind of pressure he will encounter tomorrow before, my money is he falls apart, time and again we see major virgins sleep on 54 hole leads and blow it. Phil will shoot at least -3, he knows every pin position, has the greens in his pocket and owns the Par 5's. If a couple had dropped on front 9 today he'd be a shot clear.

Oosthuizen showed the pressure was getting to him today on the back nine, losing a few iron shots to the right, and amazingly laying up on the par5 when in perfect position to attack! It wouldnt exactly inspire confidence in his bottle or his decision making.

That means Bubba or Kuchar are gona have to go really low to get near Phil. Harry had an amazing last 6 holes, but is to irratic and god knows what he'll do. Shooting -7 looks a stretch.

Is Phil a cracking bet at 6/4? One possible fly in the ointment is Hunter Mahan, is in cracking form and is putting incredibly well with this new stick, could he go really low and get involved. He definitely could in my opinion, maybe beating Phil might be beyond him but 25/1 EW first 3 looks worth an investment for tomorrow.

Was a brilliant days entertainment today, bring on tomorrow!!

i hope peter hansen can handle the pressure ,he played well in the ryder cup but this could be different playing against phil and the crowd. ..i have a nice e/w bet with laddies on peter hope he can do it Fayzer.

Thought that Rory and Sergio were just a bit too comfortable with one another yesterday , and missed the point about why they were out in one of the last pairings .  They were not there to have a good / enjoyable time , they were there to try and win a major . crazy character,to think he never had a golf lesson either,magic control. 

I was on Phil too MP and i have to say i don't think he got unlucky at all. He hit quite possibly one of the worst shots on 4 i've ever seen from a top pro, it was absolutely miles wide and long. Then instead of taking a drop or going back to the tee (as Bones was telling him to do) he decided to start hacking at the ball in a bush with his club the wrong way around. He lost the plot for those 10 minutes and it cost him his chance in the end.

Phil had a mental breakdown on that par 3 but he did not hole anything and that is what he needed to do. Missed 2 putts inside 10 feet for birdie in the first 3 holes and that could have been that.

Bubba hit 4 birdies in a row on the back 9. Any player that does that deserves to win imo.

In fairness to Phil, he didnt have an option to drop. Going back to the tee was the option and that would have resulted in at least a 5 anyway. I did say it was a bad shot, but it was the only poor shot he played all day. He was severely punished for it which is fair dues. The point i was making about luck was the ball could have went anywhere when it hit the grandstand, but it went to the worst place possible.

He was unlucky moneypenny but that is the way it goes.

Others may have got lucky with bad shots that they got away with but i fail to see what's unlucky about hitting an iron about 30 yards left and 30 yards long of where he was aiming, it was just a truly shocking shot.

He played solid the rest of the round but the putter just was not hot as it had been the other days, round 1 he played truely shocking too and was lucky enough to end up just +2, it was probably the 1st day more than anything that cost him in the long run as had he played well he would surely have carried a lead into yesterday.

The player i thought played lovely golf this week was Lee Westwood. We all know tee to green he is brilliant and it's the putting that has stopped him so many times but surely one of these big weekends he will get hot with the putter and can win a major.

Westwood will never win a major. A complete bottler.

He rolled some beautiful putts in yesterday when the pressure was off. He can not do it under pressure.

How many more chances can you give this guy and Donald. These young americans are delivering now. Mahan wont be long getting a major.

Rose looks more likely off the British Brigade to win one.

No doubt that Westwood played the best golf this week but he would drive you nuts from a punting point of view. I barred myself from punting on him for a couple of years and I think i might do so again. Very disapointing from Hunter yesterday, never showed at all. Also great to see Pod competing again. With a hot putter yesterday he would have nearly won it.

Actually Rose is a good shout.
Remember he was -4 at the 15th on the Saturday .
He played a beautiful approach to within 20 ft. of the hole -definite birdie , possible eagle.
The ball stopped and seemed settled then ,maybe from a puff of wind , it rolled down the bank into the water.
He had an awkward stance for the next shot and walked off with a bogey .
That upset him for a while and he bogeyed the 16th -not a really tough par hole.
But for that bout of bad luck he would have been right up with the lead ...and who knows ?
He seems to be well suited to Augusta and might bag one yet . He appears to be a nice bloke and I hope he does.

his approach to 15 on sat came up short - about 20 foot from Sundays pin postion maybe, but was 50-60 feet from Sat's pin position. It was then his call to drop it where he did, giving him an awkward stance.....bogeying 16 then was criminal - 'upset him for a while' - hardly the emotional reaction you would want with 21 holes still to play - dont think he will win a major - has the same weakness as Westwood - produces his best stuff when the pressure is off.
