His biggest winner was in Cheltenham with Eliogarty in the 1983 Foxhunters ridden by Caroline Beasely.
ELI...OGARTY or ELIO...GARTY, as they kept calling him thru' the race, ran in the 1984 English Grand National, ridden by Mr Hassett, finished 15th behind Hallo Dandy.

There may be only four runners but what a great race it is shaping up to be.Jetson is the weak link but the other three are top class. The Mullins stable in flying form and they think a lot of Boston Bob although the form is not there,Ipsos Du Berlais was given a bad ride at Thurles and will love Navan but Mount Benbulben was sensational last time at Navan, to me he will always be Workriders horse so i hope he wins.Anyone any idea how they will bet.

I can believe the Bookies have a Elliott Horse over Mullins. Its like Chalk and Cheese if we are Honest. Elliott is a very good trainer but Mullins is the Best in these Islands without a doubt, Please dont say Paul Nicholls Please dont!.

Boston Bob was very highly rated after his P2P win and if you have ever seen him he is a Big Black Beauty of a horse very strong and will have no problem with the ground. He has a significant Change of gear.

Mount Benbulben for me is all Chaser, needs 3 Miles and lack a neccessary change of gear. He will be a real Gold Cup contender if he stays fit in 3 years. Jumps Big and Clumsy at times.

On the Other hand Boston Bob jumps slick and much lower at his Hurdles. The fact that it good be a farce pace means that the horse with the superior jumping speed will win. Even if it a good gallop i do see how they can beat Boston Bob with his prowess of tactical speed.

ASK YOURSELF THIS WHO DID Boston Bob beat in his Point win and ask yourself why I am so confident that the bookies have this all wrong.

May head to Navan actually as i looking Forward to big wagers on himself and Don Cossack only.
Report ReimerpYsatnaf December 15, 2011 11:33 PM GMT
I don't see any reason why Boston Bob should be fav ahead of Mount Benbulben. Mount Benbulben had better bumper form than Boston Bob in my opinion and Mount Benbulben has done more than Boston Bob over hurdles so far. On what i have seen from the 2 of them on a racecourse i would have Mount Benbulben fav.

I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Report rubyisgodinthesaddle December 18, 2011 1:27 PM GMT
Cheers Reimer, ah he did well enough.

He jumping was very poor i thought. He missed the first one completely and really struggled i thought to get into any rhythm. He just has far too big and engine for Mount Benbulben and Ipson, he completely destroyed them in a hack canter there and he barely could stick in the race with his jumping.

Very taking performance when Ruby got after him, brushes up on his jumping he be a top top Novice.

Ipson needs further and better surface i feel, Mount Benbulben ran as i said above, he be done for pace, clearly he is better than that IMO, but will never beat the winner under any circumstances.

But betting is about points of view i really don't understand why people get so angry and upset when others differs with them. You may find a civilised chat to be beneifical to both parties going forward.

I don't get why you are so bitter over my comment, i never felt he was going to win the race in running and i wanted him too obviouisly as he was in my bet. That is just my opinion, i had no idea what price he went in running until you appeared with your smart reply as i don't bet in running and didn't have the market open. I couldn't tell you that i didn't think he jumped well or that i didn't feel he looked like winning pre race as well how could I? You can't give an opinion on how the race was ran until afterwards so not sure how it's aftertiming.

Anyway well done to those who backed the winner and Ruby who was really keen on his chances

Mullins, who also saw the talented Zaidpour maintain his form revival when winning the Tara Hurdle, was unable to hide the esteem in which he holds Boston Bob. "We worked him about six weeks ago and couldn't believe what he did for a big, old-fashioned chasing type," he said. "We thought if he could reproduce that on the track we would have a racehorse.

"He made the necessary improvement from the last day and jumped a lot better going that bit faster, except for that slight mistake at the first. He relished the trip and he'd have no trouble going further.

"He'll be entered in both the longer-distance novice hurdles at Cheltenham and he'd have no trouble with either the Albert Bartlett or the Neptune.

"All of Graham's horses have settled in well with us although one has a bit of a setback and might miss this season. Back In Focus is back in fast work and we'll start looking for a race for him in the New Year, but there isn't a real plan for him yet. But Boston Bob could be a bit special and although we'll definitely stick to novice hurdling this season, it's exciting to think about what he could do in the future."

Walsh was equally impressed, adding: "It's a tall order for any horse to walk into a Grade One on just his second start over hurdles. He's a three-mile chaser in the making and he jumps his hurdles like they are fences. I like him."
Report wildmanfromborneo December 18, 2011 7:55 PM GMT

.....and the trend continues Devil

Shaneshill probably not a strong stayer - at least not at a track like Navan in soft ground.

No More Heroes looks a potential top class stayer. He's very well regarded and has a serious engine on him.

Looking to Cheltenham, the Albert Bartlett is shaping up to be good little contest with No More Heroes, Blacklion and Black Hercules impressing to-date.

Shaneshill should drop back in trip but Mullins has plenty for the Supreme - Douvan, Max Dynamite, Nichols Canyon, Sempre Medici - and only really Tell us More for the Neptune.

Max Dynamite almost certainly a Neptune horse if he is good enough.

Looks like a horse that wants a trip and he could well have been a high class stayer on the flat.
