Was at the coursing in new ross today, and was a great day out. Pity there was so many withdrawls this morning though. All in all a good days coursing with two above average pups winning the derby and oaks trial stakes'. I heard the winner of the derby trial stake in Glin, Kyle Ranger, was meant to have been very impressive. Some suggesting he will be installed a very low price derby favourite. Was anybody in Glin today?

That is true Kav but a lot of very good dogs have won their trial stakes in Glin and gone on to achieve better things. Quality and Gold the most recent to win a trial stake in Glin and go on to win the Oaks. It should be an exciting winter!

I am a Munster man myself but am not too far away from the Leinster border either[;)] I have heard of a lot less 'machines' this year than any other year, although I have heard very good rumours about a potential superstar pup last weekend[;)]

name of the dog begins with 'r'. will be a very short priced derby favourite after he wins his trial stake

i know the one you mean..we shall see...then it has to go up clonmel hill 7 times..a true test.it often knocked the m out of the machine!!..remember matt hyland?looked a machine but the rest is history

I would be very surprised if u did know about this dog that I am referring to, as very few know about him. what is the second letter in the name of the dog that u refer to? Powerstown won't know what hit when this dog arrives! Matt Hyland was no machine at any stage, and that was one of the worst Derby's of all time also!

When: 08 Oct 10 15:43
id agree as the dog who won it was a grinder.at lunchtime on that wednesday a lot were saying matt was a machine..but id agree with you..dont think clonmel suited him in the end..is the second letter i?if its not i dont know!!no point in bluffing you..i heard of a thing they reckon is very good...maybe its not same dog

I dont want to give the dog's name away before he runs, but what county is this dog that u refer to in Kav? That should clear up the issue about his identity![;)] Bad slipping is probably the biggest threat faced by our great sport today, a far bigger problem than the anti bloodsports brigade even! I know the season is only 2 weeks old but people are still talking about the atrocious slipping in Kilflynn, that seemed to scupper Kyle Basils chances of victory completely[:o]

Was in Gorey yesterday at the coursing...Kevin Barry won the Derby Trial Stake with a rather useful looking pup. Was any one else at any other meetings over the weekend?

I heard that Kyle Basil didnt seem too in love with the game there this weekend and if there was a half decent dog in the stake they would have beaten him. Much truth in that? BJG, I heard before Milltown at all, that they fancied Omera big time for Clonmel. What happened her on the Sunday Kav? Seems to have been a hot Oaks trial stake there.

Yes a new oaks jolly since Monday. And no its not skelligs Kav as she wouldn't see which way this one went. Her name is Gadget Girl. Any price above 5/1 would be amazing value. The Oaks is over as a contest I am led to believe.

Kav I don't say these things for the good of my health, and when I say the Oaks is over as a contest, I mean it. And as for breeding, being by a derby winner out of a dam who has bred an oaks winner already I don't really see how that could count against her!![smiley:crazy]

Dodo Deal looked a decent prospect in winning the derby trial stake at Trim on Sunday. Also heard that Shining Toby was an impressive winner of t.s. at Mitchelstown. And that both trial stake winners at Limerick City were very impressive. Kav, were you at Mitchelstown or Limerick City?
