Both of these games could be crackers.

Galway played well in the first half against Kilkenny, they did well to stay with them for so long. they 2 games v offaly caught up with them in the second half. Either team could win by 7 pts plus. Overs will be the safest bet imo.

Antrim will run Cork closer than people think. the 9pt handicap should be snapped up.

Lustrumm - The very nature of the game is that the referee will be doing his utmost to make it a draw from flagfall,so any team that looks like maybe pulling away will be penalised sufficiently in a bid to keep it close. That goal just before half time means now that the ref will be now regretting giving a free to Tipp when they were 3 points down, when it was blatantly not a foul. Now it will be time for Galway to get the dodgy decisions since they have fallen behind. Its a good game to watch but sadly a very poor betting medium when it shouldnt be really with it being so free scoring.
Report Doyler1987 July 25, 2010 4:45 PM BST
No replay so ref has no reason to make it a draw.

Report jimeen July 25, 2010 4:49 PM BST
There was no reason to make a draw in the football last night either and the ref managed it,and almost got the double up in extra time.Yes its bull**** alright Toby, thats why the price of the draw has halved in GAA matches in the last 10 years.

I love my draws but it is not a money maker in hurling.

FWIW I think Tipperary will burst them open now. Galway carted em in the second quarter ans went in 2 points down. Tipp will geld them now

Galway were hairy aped there at the end. Jeez they are some bottlers.
I think at the end there jimeen yourtheory was blown out of the water. They all but rode the Galway man in the box when he won possession and the ref  was entitled to blow it up.
Ah well at least the players will be able to enjoy a few beers at the races this week.

Report lustrumm July 25, 2010 5:40 PM BST
I will say this though it was an exciting a game as I have seen in 4 years. They are all only trotting after Kilkenny but great game none the less
Report jimeen July 25, 2010 5:45 PM BST
Lustrumm -My theory couldnt possibly have been more correct, the penalty award was dubious to say the least, certainly a team leading by 4 points wouldnt have been awarded it.The last incident which could easily have been a penalty couldnt be awarded as it would have led to a goal chance,if it was 20 yards further out the field, then certainly a free would have been awarded. The dope Farragher actually drove the ball too near the goal, but at the end of the day the old saying that the quickest way to go skint is backing Cork footballers,Galway hurlers and the Irish Rugby team was very apt again.
Tobywong- That penalty last night in the football was a joke, that stuff happens every time a ball is dropped into the square,if Limerick had been leading the chance of that being awarded is non existent.
Report RamonSanchezPizjuan July 25, 2010 5:48 PM BST
No tears please.
Report Mr. Purple July 25, 2010 5:48 PM BST
are you back on again.. P maher had a hold of Canning's hurl!! FACT.. and on the last one its hard to say whether he would have gone for goal but it could have easily been awarded. Again re lat night you are the only person I have talked to who has said it wasn't a pen. It clearly was

Report jimeen July 25, 2010 5:59 PM BST
Mr Purple -I think the fact that you say its hard to say that Joe Canning wouldnt go for a goal is enough about your opinion on anything for me.
Report Mr. Purple July 25, 2010 6:18 PM BST
ok fair enough Joe being Joe would have backed his ability to take the pen on and go for goal. but who is to say that word wouldn't have come from the line to go for a point and bring it into extra time. BTW I would have much preferred a draw/Galway win than Tipp winning. The game still contradicts your earlier point though. You said he would try engineer a draw. By not awarding a pen he clearly didnt do so. If he really wanted to get a draw he would have awarded the pen and at least given Canning the chance to go for a point. If he goes for goal and scores so be it from the refs point of view (according to you) as all he wanted was the draw. But he didnt so how does this game support your early conspiracy theory please??
Report jimeen July 25, 2010 6:47 PM BST
The problem Mr Purple is that the ref knew full well Canning would have certainly gone for and most likely scored a goal.As he had already awarded a dubious penalty to Galway,he most definitely wasnt going to give them a second one which was going to be even more contentious.Imagine what Tipperary people and most neutrals would have been thinking if they went out of the championship in such a manner. What kind of an oinseach was going to tell Canning to take a point from the sideline, that wasnt a possibility. The best result for Tipperary would have been for one of the three on the line to miraculously tip it over the bar for a point, what did you think they were going to do,catch it and clear it ?.In all propability they wouldnt even have seen it.My argument is,if Galway were a goal behind,he'd award it,if it was outside the area then he'd propably  have given a free.
The same applies in last nights football, the ref refuses to award a blatant penalty for Limerick in the ist half, yet then gives them a mickey mouse one at the finish in an attempt to bring them together.
Report Toto82 July 25, 2010 7:17 PM BST
Canning would undounbtedly have gone for goal and have had no regrets if he missed.
If he could have taken a certain draw or an odds-on shot at winning the game he would be crazy to tap over the bar.
