Don’t bet on just favs and I don’t bet on Meydan I’m only saying the stats are there he is forever getting beat on favs he is certainly not a good jockey when it comes to that info that’s al I’m pointing out and when the flat season starts he will be one jockey I would be cautious of putting my money on with that kind of record that is just my point …

Found the golden goose and didn't make a penny. Walofs

Guys why are you assuming I’m laying or betting I don’t touch betting until the flat season and I’m no big hitter but I still think the sport is a little bit dodgy and a bit iffy when you see stats like that with a certain jockey…
|
By:
Freddie what are you going on about I’m lost in your thoughts there bruv…
|
By:
that's this forum these days the sports recent champion jockey but you arnt allowed an opinion on how good he is unless your laying his horses, the forum would rather hear about people backing 66,s shots because they hope 1st 5 favs might fall or got out of the stable the wrong side
they used to say the same when 100,s of posts criticised Brian Hughes , 3 yrs on its very nearly BRIAN WHO ? |
By:
not saying its you but some may have backed a jockey few times and he got beat on shorties ,m if it happens a few times they tend to stick in ones mind and start looking at their rides more closely ,he rides for one of the biggest operations in the game they tend to know what they are doing .often they have a few in a big race and he will sometimes be on the wrong one .

|
By:
Same with mulrennannnn. People slogging him all time. But then the stats say he is king of sand
|
By:
Blacbarn, I only started looking at him when someone put on here that he lost on 11 short price or favs last year i don’t have stats I’m not that worried I don’t bet on him but I just started to look at him on tv in Meydan and it’s bleak reading I’m not stalking him or anything
|
By:
so you don't have the stats but you post " I’m only saying the stats are there he is forever getting beat on favs"

By:
Looked like it collapsed but Measured Time broke a leg, apparently.
|
By:
You could see it was falling apart and not just slowing down…..dreadful scenes tbh
|
By:
at what point would he know going 45mph or whatever and concentrating on winning g a race ,perhaps he could have had a stephoscope and thermometer to test the horse in the final couple of furlongs
|
By:
he probably went off a bit too quick but sprinters run faster and it doesn't result in a broken leg, just incredibly bad luck and sad.
|
By:
An unfortunate accident yesterday, which looked worse because of how far in front the horse was for much of the race, giving the impression that the jockey went too quickly....He did go too quickly but it was an accident..
His employer does not employ jockeys that he does not rate...Its a billion pound business he is running. |

I took the liberty of pulling up a spreadsheet from 3 years ago. Buick's actual versus expected wins (based on SP) were 0.93 over 1392 rides. Based on that (admittedly flawed) measurement he ranked 16 of the top 100 jockeys for UK rides. One ranking behind Martin Dwyer and one ahead of Daniel Tudhope. Callum Rodriquez was ranked 1. Obviously this is heavily influenced by punter perceptions as much as anything.
Update: he is 0.94 over the past 7 seasons for UK and Ire rides. This improves to 0.98 on favourites. Don't quote me on this, I rushed it. |
By:
The skill of a retained jockey can't just be measured in results on course. Charlie Appleby has to maximise the number of Group races won and he relies on feedback from Buick both at home and on the track to select the right horses for the key races. For me he is right at the top.
|
By:
He's not the worst around, but the problem is, he's not the best either, and he's riding a lot of the best horses.
Too many poor rides for the position he's in. |
By:
That is your perception. Only connections know what instructions he had. I would put Murphy top of my list but I doubt if there is more than half a length between the top 20 jockeys when averaged out over 100 rides. They all ride shockers some times.
