It was absolutely brutal. No other word to describe it. He couldn't have given the horse a worse ride in that. His decision making throughout just exacerbated the situation. It gets worse after every replay

Didn't see the ride but no point in commenting on it anyway as he'll ride a winner soon and be the next Lester again.
At least these threads confirm what i see to be the case in that a jockey is only as good as their last ride and nobody knows the calibre of their next ride before the race and that includes the jockeys themselves.
It's not an exact science , every jockey rides good and not so good races it's the nature of the sport and for the nostalgic yes Piggott , Eddery , Carson and Cauthen all rode sub standard races it's just that nobody wants to remember them.
Good luck tonight all

It's not like he was stuck on the rails SK, he had come up the middle of the track, with the field spread out. Imo in those circumstances he had every right to think a gap would appear. Just one of those things.

I did like your second post though. It told us how well informed you are with the stable without actually having to say it. Kudos.
Only with the pocket talking clowns!I did like your second post though. It told us how well informed you are with the stable without actually having to say it. Kudos.
I would say it's the exact opposite, or at least should be. 'Pocket talking' for me is a phrase oft used by those with little argument.
Anyway, nice to see all the apologists waking up. Won't be long on here before some get the excuses in before the criticism.
Watched the race now, and not sure if the horse would have won. He isn't really finishing. That said I wouldn't be defending any jock who finds trouble in a seven horse race on a track the width of Newmarket.
It's stating the obvious to say all jocks mess up.

Are we giving a 'Worst Ride of the Night' award out this evening?
If so, I'm going to nominate Dylam Browne McMonagle for his ride on Green Triangle. This was the colt who crashed the rail at Killarney when he had the race at his mercy, so you might have thought he may get a more 'sympathetic' ride this evening, but not a bit of it, cuz Dylan was determined to take on one of the rags for the lead and, although he eventually conceded on that, he then quarter horsed Green Triangle to the front fully three furlongs out and not surprisingly his goose was cooked with a furlong to run, though to the horse's credit he did box on in a dispute of second place.
Now, whilst he wouldn't have beaten January whatever, who looks a classy filly, he might finished second under a more efficient trip, IMO.

I never doubted your opinion would be different than mine DD, I do however agree that I don't think it would have won, regardless if it got a clear run or not, which kinda shows that the OP was talking through his pocket in the first place and was commenting without watching it back. As for him finding interference, imho if he comes up the middle, like he did today, he would get a clear run 99% of the time. Sometimes it's just luck.

That's the point made earlier Lampus , rides a winner and the new Lester followed by a loser and he's the new Rab Havlin , these threads go on forever and resolve nothing , far too subjective to say the very least
