McLaughlin-Levrone’s victory tightens her stranglehold on the 400 hurdles and bolsters her case as track and field’s most dominant athlete. She last lost a 400-meter hurdles race in July 2019, a streak of 25 consecutive races.

I guess we will always be suspicious about remarkable performances due to the history of many athletes using performance enhancing drugs in the past and more than likely at these Olympics as well, whether been caught or not.

Maybe usa getting back to dominance because of their college system and others losing position as more drugs are taken out of system.
But we will likely never know
Noah looked juiced when he came out, the delay at start of 100 likely helped him, but him delaying 200 likely worked against him.

My fave sprinter (if a 200 metre runner is sprinter) was that Italian Pietro Minnea I think he was called. As well as Olympic gold had the world record for yonks and was not bulked up.
Pietro was LEGIT! he passed on (belated RIP)

Mcdonald turned out in some pro sprints around north east and Scotland.
Pro athletics was quite a big thing.
Malcolm McDonald (Fulham, Luton Town, Newcastle United and Arsenal and Djurgarden) competed at a few Games in the mid 70s. Won the 100 metres challenge at the Gateshead Pro Games in 1976. Running from 5 metres he beat George McNeil (scr.). I n the Footballers 75m McDonald beat Alan Kennedy by half a metre. As a football player, he was capped 14 times for England scoring 8 goals.

looks tough for kjt now after the belgian's first javelin throw. You would think that the leaders would go at the same time in events that can be affected by wind (not saying that has happened here).

like Caster Semenya she has been treated appallingly, lots of athletes/sportspeople over the years have had advantages but if they are natural/genetic that's bad luck on the rest.
semanya has testes - she has even fathered children. that's too big an advantage in women's events and seb coe agrees.

Amazing 800m. 1:41 and they finished in a bit of a heap. The comms were saying that Sedjaki was too far back but the winner set a suicidal-looking pace and somehow still won. Arop was last at the bell and finished 2nd so it seems Sedjaki just wasn't good enough

Very strange effort Sedjati, no doubt to the delight of the bookmakers. They will also quite pleased with Camacho-Quinn dwelling in blocks. Kipyegon bolted up having looked tired in the first round. Tonight it was the opposition who looked spent, particularly Welteji.
Assuming he stays injury free looks like there's masses to come from Tebogo over 200 and 400. Took a near world record to see him off tonight.

The 2 Womens cycling pundits on BBC1 seem to think the American is different class in the Omnium, managed a little bet at odds against, trading 1.9 now. ( Valente).

they were added though and without a timestamp it isn't clear when they were added. Someone who played the market thinks that it was added shortly before the basketball final.

My bad, complainant now says that the wording was there from the start according to betfair. Still poor market title from betfair as "most gold medals" very misleading when the market was actually "medal table winner"

It is misleading, and it's mostly historical. It's a market I'm very familiar with and it's been the same for decades. Most golds used to nearly always mean medal table. Experience teaches you to check the rules, but ofc everyone starts somewhere and it's best to make it clear for everyone.

Just turned on Sky News to hear of heroic receptions , open top buses and praise for an exceptional performance from team GB at these Olympics , as a total non follower can someone explain the reason for the " exceptional " praise across all the media or am i missing something.....
Previous 3 Olympics we averaged 26 Golds and 65.33 in average medals won.
2024 Olympics we won ...........14 Golds and 65 medals in total.
Bearing in mind the gap between Gold vs Bronze quite often is a country mile and a class gap haven't we either gone backwards or is it just others have leaped forward , seems miles off a successful games to me.
Ready and waiting for someone to tell me i'm talking complete bollox and i'm missing something
