Most the time you’re concerned about Corals paying out. You talk like it’s coming out of your pocket. Makes me wonder if you’re on some bonus related scheme. The shop wins you get a bonus. The shop loses you get Nowt. It’s the only logical explanation to me. Surly no staff would care unless it affects them financially?

There’s a new cashier in our local. She was telling me a few weeks ago how they ‘thankfully’ avoided a large winning bet on the virtual racing. His final leg in a Lucky 15 didn’t land. It cost them a few quid but thousands less than it could’ve been. Imo only the manager in the shop could’ve made her aware that they didn’t want the bet to land.

I’ve read enough of your posts, Ronnie regarding Corals. It’s crystal clear to me that the shop winning is your priority. That can only be for financial gain imo.

It’s a question I’ve asked a few times and you’ve always got defensive about it. You quite clearly want your paymasters beating your punters. No doubt handing out tea and biscuits with a smile while hoping they all lose.

Kenbo, have you never heard of loyalty to your employers, I know it's an alien concept to some people.

Clearly the shop needs to make a profit,otherwise it would close.

A profit share,would encourage more drive,but if telling staff they’re great works,then why would they offer this.

Yes, Nogoody. You hope the better they do then the better you do. As a shop worker in a bookies though you’re inevitably going to strike up friendships with customers. How do you want them to fare? Lose every bet? Break even over the year? Are you taking bets with jovial banter while wishing them ‘good luck’ but inside hoping they lose?
What about the people doing their bollox on the machines? Are you secretly rubbing your hands together while outwardly showing concern to other punters about his/her problems?
If I worked in a bookies I’d be happy with people winning. If it affected my pocket then not so much.

If it was his own shop, CUTH then I could totally understand it. It’s him versus them then.

Ronnie is a good poster, and has been for years.
Biggest c**t about shops is the sleeper rule. Been told from numerous shop gals they cannot tell customers about them.

I enjoy reading Ronnie’s posts on how the shops are doing. I’ve no doubt at all that he’s one of the good guys on here.

I just can’t fathom out why some shop staff begrudge paying out sometimes. It’s not coming out of their pocket and there’s nothing they can do to stop a winning bet happening.

The Brighton result was undoubtedly a good result anyway. Btts thwarted, overs thwarted. Throw in the Liverpool game and that will be plenty of accas down, even with all the high scoring games there were.

Maybe just loyal to their employer Kenbo…….it happens,people being loyal….tbf

most of the bonus will come from the FOBTs, "want me to show you how these work?" "Fancy some free spins" "Can I get you a coffee?" etc.

and there will not be a shop manager out there who doesn't know several billy bunters who have done their absolute conkers on the machines.

OP has been a decent poster for years on here. Why care if he works for a bookmaker when we are on here using an exchange to bet?  Personally I couldn't care less about bookmakers profits as I don't need to use them at at all at neither should you.

In fairness for every **** of a betting shop manager I have met I have met 2 good ones, many have went out of there way to be as helpful as possible.

Yes you misunderstood the point of the debate. If you don't like bookmakers then don't use them instead of moaning about them all the time.

That’s impossible to do on here so unfortunately bookies are needed by most of us. For a man who hasn’t bet with the bookies for thirty years you can’t keep away from a bookie thread without spouting the same lines every week.

Nearly all of us want bookie and exchange accounts. You are in a huge minority if you think otherwise.

Ronnie is one of the best chaps on here. He has always made it clear that he worked for Corals.

When I put a bet on here, I hope that I win and whoever layed my bet loses. All punters do.

For every winner, shops or online, there are going to be losers.

If I worked in a betting shop and was on bonus, I would hope that nobody won and wiped my bonus out and so would 99% of us.

So long as your happy betting with bookmakers then so be it, kenbo. My complaint is against those who come on here time after time moaning about them. Ronnie as has been said is a decent poster who knows the score.

I seem to have ruffled a few of your feathers. For the umpteenth time I’ve asked why he cares if the shop pays out. He has never answered this. If it’s because he’s loses out financially then I understand that. He won’t answer it though. Just tells me he doesn’t need money and also how much he has given to charity!

Any other shop manager care to say? Where’s Dealer, he’d answer without being offended.

When I worked in a betting shop in 60s, I was happy punters won a decent bit as sure to get a tip(cash) . No bonuses in my shops.

When I worked a few hours a week for Corals early 2000s the manager, and probably assistant manager, were heavily bonused based on profit. Don't forget it's not just about the bets, you're managing a significant cost base too. Why would you run it any different? 

I can't remember if I qualified for any bonuses but absolutely would have been profit-based if they were. Plus as an employee clearly you wanted the branch to make money or you risk being closed and put out of a job.

Yep, some decent tips can be gotten. Many misers around now though who wouldn’t give you the froth of their piss!

Yeah extensions mainly for other builders. I did get a phone call last week from the previous firm I subbed to. They’re picking up again and said I can go back on if I want. I don’t really want to but I silly to turn it down. Probably go back in about four weeks.

Kenbo, I'm retired but do a few weeks a year on a job I like. I'm childminding a one year old a couple of days a week, possibly the most tiring job I've ever had, and the best.
I was hoping you were getting busy again, It can't be too long. I got into Vistry shares and they're on the up. Taylor Wimpey also but they're still treading water.

It can only be a grandchild if you like it that much!

I think the biggish local house builders around here were worried when the interest rates went so high. They thought they’d be stuck with houses that wouldn’t sell. Getting rid of subbies and making redundancies where necessary seems to have done enough to weather the storm. I imagine they’ve been on the phone to most gangs who went. It’s always a gamble getting rid just in case you can’t get anyone back.
