Well a nice sunny day and a average crowd, 6-90 a pint Amstel cheapest, others 7-50 a pint, cheapest champagne 43-00 the vive clique champagne 82-00 up from 75 last year, salmon salad 11-20, very small coffee 3-90, I’d say it was less busy than last year, but it’s a class meeting and the good thing about York you come out of the train station and lots of buses across the road and they bring you back for 4-00, went into York later and was busy in town, racing that comes 2nd but had 1winner 2 seconds until the last race hadn’t backed a obrien one until the last and on my piece of paper nap the winner put it on the tote and was amazed at the price sp 11/2 so paid for the day and a bit over

£7.50 a pint seems excessive to me -can they really not sell it at £5 and make a reasonable profit ?
so 7-50 for john smiths extra smooth ? ( if that's what they still call it ) Funny but been to York hundreds of times and never used a bus. I could forgive punters at Carlisle 
I wouldn’t have thought so, Mano. I’m in the Midlands and it’s a fiver a pint. When you’ve took all the overheads into account there isn’t much profit in a pint. I’m guessing there will be around 100 bar staff to pay at £100 a day each, so there’s a few quid to cover there.
Londoners must be paying more than that already? I was paying £6 for a Magners down there fifteen years ago. Would dread to think what that would be now.

A bar in the city of London sells Guinness for £18 a pint and Carling at £13 i'm told.
Its normally full of Students who need a pint after sitting in the road all day to protest against the Oil.
The they sink a few pints which are delivered by Brewery Trucks that need Oil to get around, thanks to Daddys allowance .

2 glasses Aperol Spritz and a glass of coke, £28.50 last week in bar in The City, and the coke was for me!!!
Been to this meeting about 4 or 5 times for all 3 days. Last time about 6 or 7 years ago,
Found it to be reasonably priced and the ticket was only £82 for all three days in the posh bit.
Bus straight back to the centre.
Prob value wise one of the best meets there is for a top class course with good racing.

According to my calculations that means that it would cost the average Englander £30 to get pissed 
There can’t be many products that vary so much in cost. £20+ for four pints in a pub or a fiver for four cans at the supermarket.
Had a country pub in the North East. A pint of real ale was £1.75 when sold it in 2001.
Live in West London now and the nearest spoons sells a pint of Ruddles for £1.79. Unreal.
Normal pubs around the £7/8 mark. See plenty little groups having a drink outside bottle shops tho, unsurprisingly.

you can tell by the taste why veuve/moet cost twice as much though ronnie.

Barry Hearn was doing his nut about that on talksport, he said if they don't cut it down to a fiver a pint, they might take the competition elsewhere
