He'll be having a long break after this for a well deserved rest and lots of t.l.c. of course. The plan for next season is it try him over fences so lots to look forward to.

WOW. I'm struggling to speak, just another outstanding run. He's the most honest and genuine horse you could ever wish to be involved in.

I've just watched the video of Lizzie Gale unsaddling Tapley and it was such a wonderful thing listening to her talking about the race. I wish I could post it on here for you all.

She was just beaming with joy and happiness, hugging and patting him.

I think she's still on the month ban for mistaking the winning post at Worcester, since last ride was at the end of September.

Yes Lizzie is still serving her ban so Gavin Sheehan steps up today so we're all very pleased with that booking.

There has been a bit of an overnight punt gone on, 15/2 Hills, 7/1 Sky (3 places e.w.) and so on. Now 2/1 and as low as 13/8 in places.

I'll be heading to the course a bit later, a typical wet & windy Plumpton afternoon, and just hope he comes home safe and sound. If he actually manages to  win the gig then that would be excellent as well.

Here's hoping.

I imagine the n/r shortened everything, even so seems a ridiculous short price.

Nothing like a wet and windy Plumpton or Fontwell on  Monday.

Gavin Sheehan has got a couple of rides before us so Suzy gets a bit protective towards Tappers when the word "soft" is mentioned in the going report but we're all here so he should run. Although it's not raining now.

In other news, in the first race, Goodwin Face was freely available @ 4/1 on course. When the jolly was cooked we thought it was pay out time.

Goddammit.

Definitely runs, Sheehan said no problem with the going.

Thanks everyone for all the kind messages, it was an absolutely amazing day filled with joy and happiness with several syndicate group hugs as Gavin Sheehan took him to the winners enclosure.

I literally shouted myself hoarse as did a few others giving it the big "Oi Oi" as he jumped the last two hurdles. Sheehan was full of praise afterwards and said that he hadn't really asked the question so plenty left in the locker and was very keen to keep the ride in future races.

Tappers is entered up on Friday @ Cheltenham but it's highly unlikely he'll take his chance we think.

Next race we're looking at trying him over fences and see how that goes.

Just a truly joyous day was had by everyone and well done to Suzy and all her staff for getting him ready to roll after the Summer break.

One of the good  guys gets a great result on a wonderful day out. What could be better. Again well done!

Thanks gents, unfortunately I had an appointment earlier so I couldn't go today which is a bit gutting as I've never had the owners experience at Ascot before.

So yes Lizzie today after Sheehan was originally booked so her claim takes care of the 6lbs hike after the Plumpton win.

He'll no doubt run his usual honest race and just hopeful really as it's a very competitive heat.

Thanks very much gents. Yes all went very well today and a very pleasing chase debut in a hot race.

Finished 6th beaten a little over 17 lengths and Tappers didn't have a hard race on the run for home. I would say it was a great learning experience today and Michael Nolan was very confident of good times ahead. His jumping was pretty decent and will no doubt improve for outing.

Very happy with his performance.

Unfortunately I couldn't go today as had things to do and the journey from South London is a bit of a trek anyways.

The going should be okay and he'll run his usual gutsy race no doubt.
There was a bit of 7's with Hills earlier this week and will probably go off at around the 9/2 ish Mark I would have thought. So it's a trappy looking heat and I'm more hopeful than confident really. Fingers firmly crossed that he gets home okay.

you aint missing much. hereford a khazi of a track and travelling from london takes forever and 98 slow trains that stop for 2 days at every station. we didnt make it back the same day. and missed the first 2 races and winners and did our collective cobblers

800 quid matched in the place market. desperate

Fell away on the run for home finishing 4th.
I'll be interesting to hear what Nolan said afterwards.

Doesn't look the most fluent over fences, made a few errors

Jockey Nolan has said that he definitely needs further, 2 miles is too short and that Tappers handicap is on the high side after winning readily at Plumpton when not really beating a great deal that day.

Other than that just a bit of general chit chat about he's a lovely horse and so on. So, onwards and upwards...

Looked like he'd appreciate going a gear slower over fences, maybe something over 2 plus around Kempton

To be honest, I thought he looked a bit light today, as though he could do with a few weeks' rest until the spring. Perhaps a couple of quiet runs on soft ground in late February or March to get the handicap mark down.

Then again, how many winners have I ever trained? I shouldn't be offering advice to someone who's done as well as Suzy Smith has with this horse.

Suzy and her team have done a superb job looking after him and bringing such a huge amount of enjoyment and pleasure to many people and will continue to do so.

As the betting suggests, it's a very tough ask today for him to get competitive but he's fit and ready to roll.

I'm just hoping his jumping holds up and he gets around safely without any (fingers crossed) dramas.

I'll have a bet on 4 places and a modest e.w. but that's about it.
