Forget the mistake, the question should be how any horse ridden by Maxwell can go to 1.05 with a flight still to jump and being no more than 2 lengths up, you can throw in the Fontwell hurdle run which although not the cause of defeat in this case, does has form so would have a value in the price.

good news for his backers,is he still 2 short of losing his claim,if handicapping/weights and measures mean anything surely no one would back him without his claim, must be carrying a further penalty every time he rides

His win % is around the 20% mark for last 5 years of rides.

Odd in comparison to the abuse he gets, even though I don't like his style of riding either. How many other jockeys over jumps are beating 20% win rate?

James Davies (the jock who beat him on the run in yesterday) for comparison is around 6% for same time period.

how much per horse has that cost him ?
he,s not paying £5 grand for a horse trained by a farmer in the hills somewhere

Might have finished 4th or 5th with a different jockey but no way was it beating that winner,fair play to him,takes some set of stones to ride round there at his age/ability.

Spartan Missile would probably have won if John Thorne had accepted Francome's invitation to ride but that's not what it's all about for the amateurs , they pay their dues so best of luck to them and their choices.
