JH Johnson was a good example of Eddie Fremantle's observation that you always had to be careful with a trainer whose forename wasn't the one you'd expect from his initials. MH Peter Easterby was the best example.

I was trying to think of well known international trainers with 'dodgy' names, but the 'best' I could think of is a famous South African, but I think I'll pass on that one.

Slight change of topic but I couldn't help thinking of the MP suspended for allegedly exposing himself
in front of a member of staff (a charge he vehemently denies it should be pointed out) His name:
Peter Bone!

The Ringer family, including David Ringer who took over from his father. Trained Captain John in the early days when Mr Mouskos owned the animal. Moved it to David Thom's yard before he was sold and joined Dickinson.

Blackbarn-Yes only us old uns would remember Fiddler. Not sure about his musical ability though. I was trying to remember a staying filly he trained and started looking back ( Ged will be impressed). I came across (by complete chance), an article on the last flat meeting at Worcester August 1966, and Goodwill's Debach Girl ridden by C Williams (5) won on the card. That was the horse I was thinking about. Some of the weights carried that day were pretty low as well, 7 stone less apprentice claim of 7lbs were common.I was surprised to read that Worcester raced on the flat as I can only recall NH. Flat circuit was 1 mile 5 furlongs round. Another dodgy sounding one from way back was Frank Pullen.
