I was locked out, yet again, a few days ago, due to "suspicious activity" where, yet again, I was asked to change my password. This is what commenced the saga of verification a few weeks back. On 2, maybe 3 occasions I had logged-in using my old password (force of habit), but since then I have been careful and will wait to see if it happens again.

In the meantime I have now created a folder with all the requirements asked of me, which I will keep updated with new bills and a "photo" of my DL and a selfie. I would urge everyone to do the same, assuming they are not targeting individuals. You can either send them via email or drop them into chat if asked.

Since coming out of hospital 6 months ago and not being able to get around as I should, I have spent a lot of time on Betfair having a punt and chatting on the forum. This may have been the reason I was singled out... time spent online. Just a thought.

Anyone still in the verification limbo? My brotha thinks he's been shadowbanned by betfair and wants to quit betting because of that.

Was in touch with live chat many times since last April
only to be told I will have to get Barclays to contact them and confirm there is no payment dispute.
Barclays say they cannot contact them on my behalf and so stuck in a loop grinding my teeth and pulling my hair out lol

Someone I know had the "reset password" rubbish as his account was flagged for "suspicious activity" on trying to get his account back open he was hit on live chat with "routine checks" asking for photo id, address letter, 6 months of bank statements... Absolutely pathetic feck off was his reply and his account is still closed.

No evidence and a duplicate account if it's under multiple accounts can closed leaving one account

They provided the holder with zero information on it, refused to close the "duplicate account" and still demanded the data and they refused to withdraw his funds.

They get away with it under "protecting against fraud"

Meaning once he went in to reset his account would be flagged, as it was he went into the live chat first and was asked to change the email address, then hit him with the documents demand , to get his account reopened.

I have just been through the same procedure! Passport, birth cert, driving licence etc. It took me an hour to find everything! Nightmare!

Not been hit by it here (fingers crossed!) but did on one of the bookie accounts I keep for silly multiples at Cheltenham etc.

Bit of a faff - photo of self holding passport, scan of passport, scan of council tax bill - but no more than I've done for ID checks before.

The stupid thing is barclays sent me a letter saying any dispute was cancelled and that was last April yet nobody would accept it and just kept telling me that barclays had to get in touch with them direct. I told them they said they cannot contact you on my behalf over and over. And was told well my account is closed and that's how it will remain until we here from Barclays

As far as Barc was concerned there was nothing done against betfair no letters or nothing for 10 months nearly but still couldnt reactivate my account.Not even to post on here ffs

What's the funny bit Sontaran?  Makes sense to take a photo of yourself with your photoID or how is the photo useful?  Needs to be used to prove it relates to the person sending the ID proof in surely?  Otherwise it could be something you nicked or found in the street.  Apologies if I'm missing the point.

They ain't doing it to protect you and your personal information because of that was the case they wouldn't demand ( they say ask but then refuse to reopen account on you refusing .. go figure) for such documentation to be uploaded ONLINE as that is putting your data at risk, nothing gets "deleted" online and that's now admitted ffs.

They can simply run an address check and tick you off.

This is has fook all to do with protecting against fraud, protecting the player etc

If they were so concerned about fraud they'd contact the bank, the bank would check it out and react if they saw anything , frozen account which would mean you'd need to contact them to go through security and then give your account of events and/or proof etc. I had my bank account frozen in 2009 because the bank saw suspicious activity not seen before when I signed up to Betfair and started gambling, a quick call, security questions given, told them my activity ie what I'd been depositing etc and bank account unfrozen.

If their concerned about kids getting hold of the card etc then it's the same fooking principle.

This is nothing to do with protection it's about data harvesting, collecting documentation to sell on etc. Its fraud from their end whilst they accuse others of it to hide it.

For over a decade never any problems on betfair, deposit and withdraw etc, old enough to gamble, only now do they demand all that's being asked.

Sadlers they can claim AML (Anti Money Laundering) rules to stop you withdrawing without verification regardless of whether they let you continue to transact/bet - at least that was my training on AML in the City twenty years ago.
