a) using the raw feed which is at their fingertips on a daily basis

b) taking advantage of seeing every possible camera angle whilst LV players on here are given some very iffy camera angles at times

c) taking advantage of seeing almost immediately the photo finish print (even if it does or doesn't have the lines drawn on it by the judge) ?

drone pics go track > office in wales...then go out to peoples laptops at home or in my case office..(im assuming even though internet latency isnt much these daze) that those it lands to 1st will have a millisec advantage when an impulse click is needed.

The current management of the exchange have gradually run it into the ground with their greed and  also a devotion to so called bookmaking.

I remember quite some time ago when betfair would ring customers up for their views on the exchange and I told this rep that the PC would do harm eventually to liquidity and he said the reason for it was to it make it fairer and to try and deter those people using software.

i also remember being told that the 1 sec in running delay was so the x-matching BOT could do it's 'thang'...

i haven't stopped laughing since tbh...

i've broken half a dozen ribs in the process.

BCM1 'leaving' was a huge blow sparrow...

If I had my way I would have banned all software but this is progress we are told. My dad was an on course clerk most of his life and that took some doing in the 30s until the 70s. No software for those guys to play with!

You'd have some severe opposition to banning all software sparrow , me for one.

Allows you to have a life away from the PC when choosing to without missing opportunities.

I realise of course it could never happen hayden as people are not going to give up their advantage over others. But the fact is that it has killed the exchange principle to the delight of the bookmakers.

The only thing that should matter sparrow is making money , sod the good of the industry and it's bad for this and that , it's unavoidable progress as in many other walks of life.

The gambling industry hasn't stood still in a million different ways over the last decade or so as some punters are now finding out , the good old nostalgic days as punters like to remember them are toast.

The clock will only go forward not back but nothing to stop anyone joining in.

I agree about making money but just would like to see a level playing field for all punters. I couldn't care less about bookmakers and all those others thieving a living off the game.

sparrow - I'm with Happy and Hayden (in principal, though I've never got my 'bot to work fast enoungh to be let loose with my money, but that's just incompetence on my part).

- if BF tried to ban software (as I believe they tried in the early days) there are plenty of third-party tools out there to automate interactions with websites, and they'd just end up with the website thrashed by people with a hundred markets open and software hitting 'refresh' ten times a second

- if I know what my strategy is, and I'm clever enough to code it, why should I have to sit at my desk mashing buttons when a PC can do it for me?

Also, not my/our game, but look at (eg) Football - dozens of in-play markets being repriced in real-time as play happens - there's no way that would be done by individual punters putting prices up one at a time on the website.

Agree with every word of that longbridge , it's called gambling with a life.

Would add also as well as auto you need to apply some things manually as is the case with outlets in that you need BOTH the exchange and bookmakers to exploit every opportunity a multi-dimensional punter would need.

Premium charge is what makes the Exchange financially worthwhile for PP.
Once most go, it's pointless.

It may well disappear who knows , my attitude is make the most of something whilst it lasts then turn attention to another adventure and not waste energy worrying about other punters and how to individually win a losing battle.

Selfish i know but gambling is dog eat dog.

We are all a little bit selfish as I am here because the thought to go back to the old bookmaker betting horrifies me!  No laying or proper place betting and all their other bloody stupid restrictions would be just too much to bear.

would it really be that difficult for them to differentiate between pre-off-time bets and those struck in-play? Traders would have to react accordingly, but it could certainly revive pre-race markets.

It's all about your commission%. If you can keep it above 20% then there's no PC to pay until you breach £250k net profit.

From memory you get a £1k PC allowance so you'd have to be at least £5k in profit to work through the allowance before any PC is actually taken.

and then 20% so potentially (250-5) so another 245 gross profit before it hits 40% so potential saving of 49G.

The £250k is net profit, so in reality it's more like £300k gross before higher tier kicks in.
