No prizes - just for fun and forum prestige.
64* players drawn in 32 matches, winner progresses to next round.
*dependant on interest, if between 32 and 64 sign up then there will be a preliminary round to get to a first round of 32.
If between 64 and 128 sign up then a preliminary round to get to a first round of 64.
The Draw will be tennis style, ie. your path to the final will be fixed, not new draw every round.
Each round will take place on a Saturday.
I will choose 5 of the highest profile races for each Saturday, and selections must be made from those 5, one per player from each.
I will try to spread the races across Turf, Jumps, AW, but it just depends what's available.
Races will be confirmed shortly after Thursday's final declarations and entries open at that point.
Within each match, duplicates not allowed, first come first served.
If you do inadvertently duplicate, then of-course you can change up to cut-off time, otherwise no runner no points.
The cut-off time for posting all selections will be the time of the first chosen race, I will make the specific time clear on the Thursday.
Points will be awarded as follows:
Winner of a race gets 5pts, runner-up gets 3pts, 3rd 2pts and 4th 1pt.
A bonus point will be awarded to any top four finish if the SP is 3/1 or over, 2pts if 5/1 or over.
Points scored will be totted up for all five races and highest scoring winner goes through to next round.
In the event of a tie, the player with the best priced winner goes through, or if no winners, then runner-up and so on.
If both players fail to score then whoever has best priced 5th or 6th etc. will go through.

Seriously glasgow you would think betfair would organise a proper day out at the races for the likes of undecided and other comp organisers.

Do you remember last year I got some prizes for Chelt and Aintree comps?
The entries nearly doubled from the usual so I don't know if that's enough for Betfair.
At the time I spoke to someone there with big plans for the forum, hence that survey they did and then it all went quiet.
I'm not motivated enough to keep chasing them for stuff, the prizes were modest anyway, let's just enjoy the competition.

Undecided were all amateurs and it certainly wouldn’t make any difference to me or foxy if there was prize money but as I said to Glasgow I do think it’s time you and other organisers were given a treat.
Thanks jimnast, I did get a few quid off them for those comps at least. There are plenty of others who run comps that don't get anything.

Not sure you can condone anyone for picking an odds on shot for the comps Cag, A Nap is what you make your best bet of the day, what you can condone imo is those ( very few ) that persist in backing the lowest priced runner of the day for years on end. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZZ YAWN.
Condone means to support/agree GC, up to them what they select but how can it be a competition if there is no attempt to be better than the opposition. I think you meant condemn, but just trying to support the concept.
Btw maybe you should look harder at the "Very" few i.e yesterday's 1/5 and 2/15 shots therough all divisions?

Acey wont be a threat, his punting days are behind him, he got lucky in the Naps comp a few years back. I believe Greville Starkey was riding at the time, and he hasnt stopped talking about it since. !
That is the sort of positive approach needed GC, acey sharpening his pencil ready for battle, as the old saying goes "Form is temporary, class is permanent"..........at least that is what he told me!!!

I am going to try and get over before the end of the season and hope he is better than he was, this time to try and persuade him to keep in touch on here and otherwise soldier. That said it will not be easy but would you mind if I dropped your name in to stir him up?

SDC had a snide, unlucky to one of his user names for also failing and being second beaten 5L on the final day, not a mention of the above or sh hd and nose 3rd @ 33/1 which would have destroyed the lot. That said 29 out of the 30 were stuffed by the 3 lower divisions, just a creel btw if you get my drift on quotas!!

should the scoring cistern not better reward big choc ices?

That is true mitolo but at least negates the chance of flukes like the sp system skewing overall consistency for most?
Fair comment mitolo, but I'm trying to keep it simple, as it is a match it's more about just beating your opponent's selection and not being flashy with outsiders.

Apart from me i cant see many Premier Division Winners in the line up although Salmon might have Won back when God was in short trousers.
I think it may be best to stop at 64, so 6 spaces left. Don't need a prelim round then and we could start 1st round proper on Saturday.

Just at a quick glance Lampus and hong kong fooey are multiple winners,and I'm pretty sure there are others.
