Apparently closed for no reason, and seven other banks have refused his application to open an account with them.
I'd imagine in Stalin's SU or Hitler's Germany, political opponents were quite literally 'cancelled', the regimes are a bit more subtle about it nowadays, imo.
You have to admire his arrogance - he just automatically assumed that it must be because he is a racist loon, it never even occurred to him that it was because he's failing to meet the criteria.

I went to school with Nigel Farage, whatever you may think of him one thing I will say is that he has not changed one bit. What you have see now is exactly the same arrogant and self confident bloke who captained the debating society all those years ago.
"They" tried to label him a racist, even then, for singing Nazi songs in the C.C.F. and get him expelled. It was all complete lies but it never actually got proven either way I seem to recall. Then when he was in the running for head boy, a group of teachers lobbied against him to The Master to put the kybosh on that. They did partly succeed in so far as he was made a senior perfect which is a rung below the top job.
We were friends more than mates but I did like him and he was always good value entertainment and we were in the same house. He excelled in debating and I'm sure he was captain of the chess team as well. I was a rugby, hockey and cricket man in comparison.

I like him SB, he is highly entertaining and there is no doubt he is a brilliant orator. Other people (in the political world) that I also find highly entertaining and believe to be brilliant orators include George Galloway and Alex Salmond (imo) - it doesn't mean I like or agree with what any of them have to say.

i was introduced to him 20 years ago in a boozer in norf london by a sarf laundon kid of humble origin who was mentored by him and has now retired to galway in ireland. he spoke highly of him and the help he was given, unrewarded. didnt make much of an impression, but liked a pint of ipa and an oily rag
hes routinely cited as a racist by the chattering classes who cannot brook dissent on certain received opinions that are unchallengable. too common on here for people to make offensive assertions with no reason or argument to back it up

Galloway is good whether you like him or not, although his judgement is questionable to say the least, whether in politics or in dressing up as a cat on telly.

I’m sure he’s got European citizenship, virtually all of the brexit liars have,so he can just open a German bank account,or French. Spent 20 years telling us we want a Norway style trading agreement, Never wanted to leave the single market, just obessessed with the EU directives, the ones we created with the other countries, that we could of vetoed if we wanted to,that 26 countries seem fine with ,yet we don’t now. The reason the tories, hard right wanted to leave the EU,is because they have basic protections for workers, and basic standards for goods sold, all there to protect the citizen, the hard right don’t want you having rights, protections.hence why they pushed brexit.
They wanted to get rid of all that EU red tape, only to replace with more red tape if you want to sell goods into the EU
The infamous bendy banana which was a fake story, was to protect you , so that you weren’t offered a cheap crap bendy banana, allthough fake,it meant you got a decent banana.
Same with electrical goods,so they didn’t blow up and burn your house down.
But hard right capitalists, believe in buyer beware,it’s your own fault for buying a dodgy kettle that blows up,this they call a free market.
As for free movement of people,it works like supply and demand,if there are 20 burger vans at Doncaster today, they wouldn’t earn enough to make it pay,so 18 burger vans would go home,
If the demand is there, then the people are needed,if not, they d drift off around Europe looking for work.
Immigration is at record highs, the biggest complain is,these different cultures don’t integrate, but white Christian Europeans would integrate better than rest of the world immigrants, but we ve kicked out the Europeans, and ended up with more from around the world.the complete opposite of why most brexit voters wanted.
So I ll shed no tears for the German,French,British, whatever passport he produces farage.he’s either very clever, doing the bidding of right wing capitalists,or very stupid cos he’s been used as a pawn to do their bidding.
I think he’s stupid,the classic smug,little Englander,offering simplistic solutions to complicated problems.
He’s made a living for himself,as a grifter, playing to peoples insecurities about the wrong topics.

The thread is farage bank accounts, what’s Galloway done, why is he being brought up,he’s irrelevant.
Great orators don’t matter anymore, people are individually fed propaganda via their phones, the left will struggle to get elected in the future,as A1 analytics with guide them to their beliefs,
We ve hit peek capitalist brainwashing.the right can only get elected by getting the losers of capitalism to vote for more of it.
Divide and rule has never been easier for the ruling class.. Secretly dripping poison into your phone, slowly grooming you to believe that your neighbour is the reason your life’s crap, and by voting right wing, they will solve it.
Capitalist, want cheap labour, they used to want immigration,to boost the workforce, and to stop british workers asking for more ,as the immigrant will step in if you go on strike.
But no one bar a small select bunch of billionaires, millionaires benefits from the status quo,so they ll go anywhere to get votes, say anything, offer anything, how else can they win,

The thread was basically saying. It’s very bad if people(farage) can’t get bank accounts,it’s cancel culture going too far, My first reply was basically saying ,I agree with that, but I wont be loosing no sleep over farage suffering, because of all the lies he’s told, and the damage he’s done. The establishment have been closing down the bank accounts of those on the right, for political reasons, for the best part of twenty years, starting with the BNP, very well documented and absolutely without contention. This case, unusual, in the sense that, they went for a mainstream name, but in this instance, and with regard to the speculation around his financial standing and reason for closure, at the very least a considerable data breach has taken place, which should speak volumes of the integrity, credence of Coutts et al.

Nasa is an extension of the airforce,so plently of places,it’s a big country.
Hoover and the USA was obsessed with communism seeping into the USA,Vietnam,Cuba, etc.
They had to prove that capitalism was better than communism,as they were frightened to death of loosing their money(the rich).
So when the USSR put the first man in space,it basically said, look how good communism is we can beat the USA into space.
So nasa had to beat that, going to space was no good,2nd in space,so they had to land on the moon.had to. To prove they’re better than ussr.
6 landings, after first 4/5 people got less interested,so they created a bit of drama,to slingshot around the moon, cos they might die,it’s embarrassing telling the story, only a fool would believe it.
2 challengers blew up. They only went to space, that was 20 years ago,
70 years ago, when we had 1 tv channel, outside toilets,no double glazing,no central heating, We went to the moon 6 times,no one died,no one crashed, amazing. The Russians first in space, didn’t go to the moon,I wonder why.maybe cos it’s not possible.
I could be wrong, but basic logic says, surely not,
We ve never been back, they deflect from this by announcing, every 5 years,we are going to mars.
Remember, these astronauts are the best of the best, the 1% of the 1%,they are loyal airforce men, Who when explained to them, look we can’t go to the moon,Apollo will blow up,
But the nation is waiting, the Russians are ahead of us,just play along.
They shot a president in broad daylight whilst all this was going on,then nixon, was he honest. The last president called the main stream media fake news, that’s 70 years on.
Logic dictates we didn’t land on the moon,ii feel a little bit disturbed if people think we did, like your Scientology followers ,
How come they designed the challenger to take off and land, Yet the moon landings, ended up dropping in a metal tub with a parachute,I’m laughing as I’m typing,it’s fooking comical..you couldn’t make it up.
We was landing on the moon, yet the 2-45 from Kempton result was coming through on ticker tape.we didn’t even have the blower.
Easy to fake pictures, given the quality of tvs etc.
Maybe when it’s 100 years more people might think, errmmm how’s that possible.
Nasa don’t even have a space program anymore,no astronauts will go beyond the space station.
You need 6foot of lead to get through the van Helen belt to stop you burning up.
It’s farcical, Noticed they don’t have any big anniversaries, they don’t want to remind people, let’s forget it.
As every year passes, and more technology is invented,it highlights the fact, there’s no way we had the skills to do it.
I might be wrong, but I have no qualms in being sceptical.if it was a court,on the balance of probability the jury would say ,didn’t happen.
Area 51,nevada desert, aircraft hangers.Nasa is an extension of the airforce,so plently of places,it’s a big country.Hoover and the USA was obsessed with communism seeping into the USA,Vietnam,Cuba, etc. They had to prove that capitalism was better t

Andrew Neil lists 15 questions for Coutts after Nigel Farage unveils bombshell bank report
Mr Neil, widely regarded as Britain's toughest political interrogator, took to Twitter to post a series of questions for the prestigious bank.
Andrew Neil has shared a list of probing questions for Coutts after Nigel Farage said his bank account was shut because his views "do not align" with their values.
The former Ukip and Brexit Party leader obtained a report from the private bank's reputational risk committee used to justify the closure via a subject access request.
The 40-page document mentioned his comments about Brexit, his friendship with former US president Donald Trump and tennis star Novak Djokovic, and a perception that he was regarded as "racist and xenophobic"
Responding to the development, Mr Neil tweeted a list of 15 searching questions for the bank for the wealthy.
The former BBC presenter said: "Who compiled and agreed the political tests that you used to decide who can be your customers (and resulted in Nigel Farage being banned from banking with you)?
"Does it have the approval of your CEO? Does it have the support of your parent bank NatWest Group?"
Mr Neil also asked about the process for the decision on Mr Farage's bank and whether the CEO and board approved.
He went on: "You write of Farage not aligning with your values. Who determined these values?
"Do other banks in the NatWest Group have the same or different political tests?"
Mr veteran broadcaster then asked who wrote the report into Mr Farage and who decided to shut his account.
He also questioned how many other accounts have been closed due to political reasons and if they will publish the criteria.

HSBC called me into the office about 10 years ago to let me know they were closing my account. When I asked why, the jumped-up cashier said "you know why". If I knew I wouldn't have asked the question! Anyway they'd made the decision they didn't want to be associated with gambling and I was punting a far amount back then. She failed to mention that HSBC had received a $1.9b fine for serving as a middleman for Mexican drug cartels. Pathetic excuse of a bank!

Coutts – the royals' bank of choice, owned by Britishtaxpayers – was recently named in the "Panama Papers" for asking Mossack Fonseca to create offshore companies for its clients. Less well-known is that it recently paid a $78 million (£50 million) fine for helping ultra-rich clients evade tax by using Panamanian and other offshore structures. Coutts is a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), which is mostly owned by the UKgovernment, so the fine was largely paid by you and I, the UK taxpayers. Taxpayers are paying for tax avoidance.

Nigel Farage: BBC apologises to Farage over account closure story
The BBC has apologised to Nigel Farage over its inaccurate report about why his account at Coutts bank was closed.
On 4 July, the BBC reported Mr Farage no longer met the financial requirements for Coutts, citing a source familiar with the matter.
The ex-UKIP leader later obtained a Coutts report which indicated his political views were also considered.
He thanked BBC CEO Deborah Turness - who has written to him - and business editor Simon Jack for their apologies.
"It's not often that the BBC apologise. But for the BBC to apologise, I'm very, very pleased," Mr Farage said.
Mr Jack, who tweeted his apology, said his story was "from a trusted and senior source".
"However, the information turned out to be incomplete and inaccurate. Therefore, I would like to apologise to Mr Farage," Mr Jack continued.

sparrow 02 Dec 22 13:42 Sorry wonders as I should I have updated this. Appparently the problem was with my bank who had put a block on myaccount but for no particular reason and blamed it on their security system being too sensitive to something. When I told them that this had been reported before and nothing was wrong the person said the call should have put through to the fraud department in the first place rather than just to an ordinary department. I only contacted them again because it was refusing other payments also.

DBTB, it's not just political figures, because there was the case of Toby Young, the general secretary of the Free Speech Union, whose organisation had their account frozen by Paypal, not because of anything Young had said, but because they had the audacity to defend someone's right to say whatever it was they said.
And it was only after a public outcry that the accounts were reinstated.
This is what we're dealing with, powerful financial institutions cancelling the accounts of people whose views they don't like.
What will it be like in a cashless society?

My previous post about Coutts was removed. I was a manager there and know plenty about the bank and the many skeletons in the cupboards. It is no longer the bank it was since RBoS took over and purposely tried to eradicate its culture, heart and tradition. The bank is now adopting the woke mantra and pandering to the very people it shunned for centuries.

Peter Hitchens writes in his Mail on Sunday column today:
"Has Nigel Farage really won a great victory over the forces of the Cultural Revolution? I don't think so. The bank which tried to cancel him had to be dragged, almost by force, into admitting it had done anything wrong. Those who eventually resigned quite plainly had no real belief they had done anything wrong. Much of the Left-wing media and the Labour Party still think Mr Farage is exaggerating or protesting too much. Here's the truth. Most British institutions, companies, media, educational establishments, churches etc are now in the grip of a severe, intolerant Left-wing dogma. We are in the twilight of free speech."

It has however taken away one of the default responses from those worker ants who defend this sort of stuff. That anyone calling it out is some kind of conspiracy theorist.
Peter is obviously right that 'they' still don't think they did anything wrong. They feel Farage is genuinely evil, and that means the ends justify whatever means are necessary to rid us of this 'evil'. A non believer, corrupting the minds of others. They know they've screwed up, but as they got exposed, not because what they tried to do was incorrect. New tactics will be needed.
Farage has also created a 'safer space', for want of a better term. People now feel more confident to vocalise how they have been treated.
Peter is also correct that this pernicious dogma is absolutely everywhere, not just banking. Touches all of out lives. But it's not left wing as such. They are happy to cancel left wingers like Corbyn too. It's a perceived intellectual woke ideology. The best way to tangibly see what that is, is via the BBC. The BBC is their mouthpiece, their bible, therefore if you disagree with the BBC's opinion on anything, you must be an idiot. As they don't view it as an opinion, just right vs wrong. And the BBC now hates Britain, and traditional English/British values.

An example, I regularly listen to a financial podcast, it's a mainstream national media outlet. It's still a reasonable listen, largely non political and can be informative.
When the story first broke, they went into it, but the opining was along the lines of, debanking is definitely possible but there's no smoke without fire, in no way was Farage being cancelled because of his politics.
lol.
Since it all came out, what the BBC did, the dodgy dossier, what the bank did, the lying, the attempted cover up, the board initially backing the CEO, the humiliating climb down in the middle of that night. The CEO of one of the biggest banks in the world being forced to quit for breaking client confidentiality. They haven't touched it! The biggest banking/financial governance story in years! Hilarious and all they said in the latest podcast is that they won't be covering the story as it had been done to death. Another financial podcast I listened to stated that they were just sorry to see one of the few female CEOs leaving

Cider, wd you said it! And cash really is part of the battleground. Banks are making huge profits yet closing branches, the Government watchdog could stop them if it so wanted, the fact that it doesn't tells me that the Govt approves. Without a bank to go to its harder and harder for a business to accept cash. But. If we keep using cash, encouraging others to do so and spreading the word about the dangers of a cashless society its still game on. J

Rural communities will go back to a cash only society. If the nearest cash machine is 10 miles away and banks won't accept it over the counter then the solution is to keep cash and let it circulate in the local area as it always used to do. We have 3 "trust" shops (help yourself and put the cash in a box) in our small village that only accept cash and they are thriving.

"Nigel Farage fell below the financial threshold required to hold an account at Coutts, the prestigious private bank for the wealthy, the BBC has been told."
Evidence that no data breach has occurred, ok. Good luck with that.
The former NatWest chief executive breached data protection laws when she spoke to a BBC journalist about the planned closure of Nigel Farage’s bank accounts, the UK’s information watchdog has ruled.
An Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) report seen by the Guardian said that Alison Rose broke rules on two counts: first by revealing that Farage had a banking relationship with its private bank, Coutts; and secondly by providing “misleading information” that led the BBC to believe the bank was closing his accounts for purely commercial reasons, linked to his wealth.
“Mr Farage’s rights were infringed because of this,” the ICO report said.
Nice result for the SSAFA, very generous of you CagliariG I think we can all agree!

It seemed cruel to point out that he did not take the bet George and that he edited like a 10 year old e.g to quote him "At the very least a substantial data breach has taken place". The fact he was days late with the news that Rose had spoken to the BBC, a fact everyone else seemed aware of showed that he was clueless!!
