I went to school with Nigel Farage, whatever you may think of him one thing I will say is that he has not changed one bit. What you have see now is exactly the same arrogant and self confident bloke who captained the debating society all those years ago.

"They" tried to label him a racist, even then, for singing Nazi songs in the C.C.F. and get him expelled. It was all complete lies but it never actually got proven either way I seem to recall. Then when he was in the running for head boy, a group of teachers lobbied against him to The Master to put the kybosh on that. They did partly succeed in so far as he was made a senior perfect which is a rung below the top job.

We were friends more than mates but I did like him and he was always good value entertainment and we were in the same house. He excelled in debating and I'm sure he was captain of the chess team as well.
I was a rugby, hockey and cricket man in comparison.

I like him SB, he is highly entertaining and there is no doubt he is a brilliant orator. Other people (in the political world) that I also find highly entertaining and believe to be brilliant orators include George Galloway and Alex Salmond (imo) - it doesn't mean I like or agree with what any of them have to say.

The establishment have been closing down the bank accounts of those on the right, for political reasons, for the best part of twenty years, starting with the BNP, very well documented and absolutely without contention. This case, unusual, in the sense that, they went for a mainstream name, but in this instance, and with regard to the speculation around his financial standing and reason for closure, at the very least a considerable data breach has taken place, which should speak volumes of the integrity, credence of Coutts et al.

Mr Neil also asked about the process for the decision on Mr Farage's bank and whether the CEO and board approved.

"Do other banks in the NatWest Group have the same or different political tests?"

Mr veteran broadcaster then asked who wrote the report into Mr Farage and who decided to shut his account.

He also questioned how many other accounts have been closed due to political reasons and if they will publish the criteria.

HSBC called me into the office about 10 years ago to let me know they were closing my account.  When I asked why, the jumped-up cashier said "you know why".  If I knew I wouldn't have asked the question!  Anyway they'd made the decision they didn't want to be associated with gambling and I was punting a far amount back then.  She failed to mention that HSBC had received a $1.9b fine for serving as a middleman for Mexican drug cartels.  Pathetic excuse of a bank!

I think what’s required now is that we get a full list of every account holder at Coutts so we can verify that they are indeed upholding their high moral standards for servicing a client they demonstrated with Farage.

They need to be open and transparent about who they’re working with.

Nigel Farage: BBC apologises to Farage over account closure story

The BBC has apologised to Nigel Farage over its inaccurate report about why his account at Coutts bank was closed.

On 4 July, the BBC reported Mr Farage no longer met the financial requirements for Coutts, citing a source familiar with the matter.

The ex-UKIP leader later obtained a Coutts report which indicated his political views were also considered.

He thanked BBC CEO Deborah Turness - who has written to him - and business editor Simon Jack for their apologies.

"It's not often that the BBC apologise. But for the BBC to apologise, I'm very, very pleased," Mr Farage said.

Mr Jack, who tweeted his apology, said his story was "from a trusted and senior source".

"However, the information turned out to be incomplete and inaccurate. Therefore, I would like to apologise to Mr Farage," Mr Jack continued.

Sorry wonders as I should I have updated this.  Appparently the problem was with my bank who had put a block on my account but for no particular reason and blamed it on their security system being too sensitive to something. When I told them that this had been reported before and nothing was wrong the person said the call should have put through to the fraud department in the first place rather than just to an ordinary department. I only contacted them again because it was refusing other payments also.

My account was never closed it had a stop put on it due to an error by the bank staff.

My previous post about Coutts was removed. I was a manager there and know plenty about the bank and the many skeletons in the cupboards. It is no longer the bank it was since RBoS took over and purposely tried to eradicate its culture, heart and tradition. The bank is now adopting the woke mantra and pandering to the very people it shunned for centuries.

It's not a victory.

It has however taken away one of the default responses from those worker ants who defend this sort of stuff. That anyone calling it out is some kind of conspiracy theorist.

If the nearest cash machine is 10 miles away and banks won't accept it over the counter then the solution is to keep cash and let it circulate in the local area as it always used to do. We have 3 "trust" shops (help yourself and put the cash in a box) in our small village that only accept cash and they are thriving.

Ex-NatWest chief breached Nigel Farage’s privacy, watchdog rules

The former NatWest chief executive breached data protection laws when she spoke to a BBC journalist about the planned closure of Nigel Farage’s bank accounts, the UK’s information watchdog has ruled.

An Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) report seen by the Guardian said that Alison Rose broke rules on two counts: first by revealing that Farage had a banking relationship with its private bank, Coutts; and secondly by providing “misleading information” that led the BBC to believe the bank was closing his accounts for purely commercial reasons, linked to his wealth.

“Mr Farage’s rights were infringed because of this,” the ICO report said.

Good job Glen's a wealthy man.

It seemed  cruel to point out that he did not take the bet George and that he edited like a 10 year old e.g to quote him "At the very least a substantial data breach has taken place". The fact he was days late with the news that Rose had spoken to the BBC, a fact everyone else seemed aware of showed that he was clueless!!

Any kind of a Man holds his hands up and offers a simple apology.

Too far gone even for that it would seem.
