Spot of reminiscing here...

Jeff Stelling interviewing Henry Cecil after Shiva had won the Brigadier Gerard in 2000.

I suppose you could look at Cash's last run behind Chindit and say that that form would have got him a place in the Lockinge, a Group One over an inadequate trip.  Maybe tonight's the night. With the doubts you mention about Desert Crown and Hukum then Claymore shouldn't be overlooked at 28/1. He seemed to love the fast ground when winning a Group 3 at Ascot and if he's allowed an uncontested lead would have a chance today.

What expectations do you think Keith Dalgleish has for Chichester?  He'll get a grand petrol money for last place. B365 go 85/1 1/4 odds for the 3 places. At least you'd think he's fully fit and trying although outclassed.

I was trying to work out how he's got his rating of 109.  Probably very few handicap opportunities off that mark.

Chichester that is.

I think Desert Crown will not be running if he cannot win this. Otherwise, stallion duty beckons.
Report halcyon days May 25, 2023 4:58 PM BST
Fair point. I'll keep following Cash until he wins one of these ! I'm sure the extra 2F will suit, let's hope it's a great race ! Happy

One of Sir Michaels favourite races to win. Won it 11 times since 1982. Not too shoddy. Think it will be 12 tonight

No excuse. Hukum (boxed-in) gave 1st run to Derby winner and still won. I do not think absence made a huge difference.

Yes - "Desert Crown has BREEZED INTO the Race"

Presumptive know-all.

Shouty put firmly in his  place, poetic.
Report cacique May 25, 2023 7:52 PM BST
Listening to the commentary I thought Desert Crown was miles in front... he didn't look to quicken or sustain the run to the line

However Crowley was whipping before the furlong pole and got a head of steam, whereas Kingscote only gave his horse a crack when the winner came upsides.

He's absolutely appalling, I loathe his commentaries with a passion.

Commentator needs to change his pitch, same old everytime.
Winner a good horse good return from desert will improve leaps. Keep the faith.

Stick to scratch cards Hal.

Report impossible123 May 25, 2023 8:23 PM BST
Kingscote did nothing wrong. If anything I thought he rode an astute race stealing a few lengths when Hukum was behind a wall of horses.
