Would not have won if it had started yesterday....beaten by a far superior horse

Agree the winner looked decent and was sure to come on from last season, but why do the blatant non triers go throughthe same MO ? Lose a few lengths at the start, take the widest course, then make it look like you are throwing the kitchen sink at the horse when the race is all but over. ?
