If the big owners who spend 400k on one aren't doing it for the money then I aint going to have a pop at someone throwing a few quid at something so they can say that they own a fraction of a horse either.
I'm not having a dig, he pays around £50 for a 3000th share, if he is happy with what he gets like I said good luck to him. It undoubtedly gets people interested in racing. If you don't spend it on a takeaway buy a share in another one.

I spent £400 on a share of a horse and paying £100 month fees. As a life long racing fan its been about the best money I've ever spent! I own 2.5% but get all the perks of being an owner, free entry, free meals, free racecard. Don't knock it

Owners group buy horses for around £50k and syndicate them at 3000 shares at around £40 to £50 a share. They make all the money. Imo people obviously aren't doing it for the money but for the thrill of having a share in a horse at a big yard and days like today. I wasn't being flippant about the prize money he will get. They don't pay anything else Foyles for a year. They then get a discount for the next year if they want to continue or drop out the syndicate
I have no issue with people who buy shares with them but I do think on the money side its robbery without a mask. They could easily do it for far fewer shares.

All I can say is it wasn't meant to be for the reasons above, maybe People don't celebrate with a take away and a carry out anymore

a nifty is nuffin nowdays ,cost ya that to watch 22 prima donna footballers kicking a ball and diving all over the gaff for an afternoon . obviously stage star is one of a few who hit heights but ya never know .

the dealer, I'm fully on your side re the amount of money certain people make from syndication, having a share is something a lot aspire to but in many cases now I think its simply a rip off, but if people like colonel enjoy it why not...
The Dealer I owned a horse outright won a small race up north after paying travel from Newmarket bunging the jockey a few quid and paying the weeks keep had just enough for a takeaway on the way home
Racingtoprofit, ursa major, ontoawinner, Middleham Park, etc all completely different experience than the owners group but it is a different market of people.

I did the maths at start with Owners Group and realised they were taking a big slice - but I wanted to have a cheap investment with a reputable trainer. I didn't want the usual advert in the Racing Post: NASTY JOHNS'S RACING DE LUXE RACING SYNDICATE: MASSIVE DOWNPAYMENT, LOADS OF MONTHLY FEES, HORSE WITH SOME ALL-WEATHER CHANCER WHOSE NAME YOU LAST SAW IMPLICATED IN A HORSE-PULLING CASE AT THE BHA. WUR, YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE INNIT.
I've only seen the Kempton race this afternoon Tom. Keenan did very well indeed, she looks hard work, possibly explains the poor win record.
