. . . and I backed him at 10s last night.

But the best bit was McCoy and Walsh trying to knock him after he won - because he wasn't one of the Irish stars they had been tipping before the race.

A bit cruel the dealer, surely uncalled for..

They hate to see one winning that they have dismissed. Nevison was the same but he did apologise to you (and the other owners) Well done.
Report the dealer March 16, 2023 4:42 PM GMT
Wasn't meant to be, you don't get much for £50 these days, if people are happy with what they get good luck to them
Report hulk23 March 16, 2023 4:45 PM GMT
Well done Colonel. Hopefully the rotten Dealers load of sh1t hasn't put a dampener on things. Guys a grade A cnt. Enjoy !!
Report duffy March 16, 2023 4:46 PM GMT
If the big owners who spend 400k on one aren't doing it for the money then I aint going to have a pop at someone throwing a few quid at something so they can say that they own a fraction of a horse either.
Report Dotchinite March 16, 2023 4:48 PM GMT
Well done Colonel.
Report the dealer March 16, 2023 4:51 PM GMT
I'm not having a dig, he pays around £50 for a 3000th share, if he is happy with what he gets like I said good luck to him. It undoubtedly gets people interested in racing. If you don't spend it on a takeaway buy a share in another one.

Apologies if you were offended by my  original post.

Hulk, thanks for the character assassination, on a faceless forum it doesn't bother me.

Report Macintoshmatty March 16, 2023 5:02 PM GMT
I spent £400 on a share of a horse and paying £100 month fees. As a life long racing fan its been about the best money I've ever spent! I own 2.5% but get all the perks of being an owner, free entry, free meals, free racecard. Don't knock it
Report Rico-Dangleflaps March 16, 2023 5:03 PM GMT

Report FOYLESWAR March 16, 2023 5:05 PM GMT
colonel once youve paid the nifty how much a month fees do you have to pay ?
Report the dealer March 16, 2023 5:08 PM GMT
Of course it is Macintosh and good luck with it.

Owners group buy horses for around £50k and syndicate them at 3000 shares at around £40 to £50 a share. They make all the money. Imo people obviously aren't doing it for the money but for the thrill of having a share in a horse at a big yard and days like today. I wasn't being flippant about the prize money he will get. Good luck to him whatever he does with it.
Report the dealer March 16, 2023 5:11 PM GMT
They don't pay anything else Foyles for a year. They then get a discount for the next year if they want to continue or drop out the syndicate
Report the dealer March 16, 2023 5:14 PM GMT
I have no issue with people who buy shares with them but I do think on the money side its robbery without a mask. They could easily do it for far fewer shares.

Todays winner in theory will bring the owners group  another £100k at least, when the year is up.

the dealer, I'm fully on your side re the amount of money certain people make from syndication, having a share is something a lot aspire to but in many cases now I think its simply a rip off, but if people like colonel enjoy it why not...

The Dealer I owned a horse outright won a small race up north after paying travel from Newmarket bunging the jockey a few quid and paying the weeks keep had just enough for a takeaway on the way home
Report the dealer March 16, 2023 5:31 PM GMT
Racingtoprofit, ursa major, ontoawinner, Middleham Park, etc all completely different experience than the owners group but it is a different market of people.

Dealer, don't worry about it. I wasn't offended. I backed it heavy, for me anyway. I didn't even think about the divvy up.

Foyles, you pay fifty quid a year, that's it. And you get a message every week from Nicholls and Henderson. And then you a Festival winner and the TV pundits are a bit knocky cos it's not Elliot or Mullins.

I did the maths at start with Owners Group and realised they were taking a big slice - but I wanted to have a cheap investment with a reputable trainer. I didn't want the usual advert in the Racing Post: NASTY JOHNS'S RACING DE LUXE RACING SYNDICATE: MASSIVE DOWNPAYMENT, LOADS OF MONTHLY FEES, HORSE WITH SOME ALL-WEATHER CHANCER WHOSE NAME YOU LAST SAW IMPLICATED IN A HORSE-PULLING CASE AT THE BHA. WUR, YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE INNIT.

So you buy the Mrs a present you hope she hates. forgets about and which you can dig out the bin but unfortunately she says she likes it (obv she hates it) just to annoy you as she's onto you and will take full use of it at your expense at the racecourse. Anywon else need marriage guidance?
