Embarrassing, but, frankly, it's amazing things like this don't happen more often given how complicated all the arrangements are.
I inferred from the RP article that the BHA eventually spotted the error but it's surprising that none of the trainers picked it up. Does anybody remember from the 80s when a horse called Pentland Javelin was not given its full weight in a handicap at Redcar, went off a 6/4 fav I think but got beat.
