You need to write a letter to your MP, complaining about the draconian, restrictive, nanny state, etc. Tell them it is your human right to place a bet and your civil liberties are being taken away from you by communists.
Oh, no, hang on. |

At least you can still play their slots and casino.

"Racing is hard, Betting on it shouldn't be".
Unfortunately, SLYBET not only make it "HARD" to have a bet on Horse Racing, for a huge number of punters, they make it IMPOSSIBLE by way of ridiculous restrictions. It ain't gonna get any better mate ![]() |

All you can do is give them bad publicity. Your case sucks tbh and would be very bad publicity, especially with this slogan "Racing is hard, Betting on it shouldn't be" It's the worst case I've heard of tbh
The thing about Skybet is that their new offers, although obviously for very small stakes, are very good. These offers will make a whole load of small customers unprofitable, when beforehand they were not. My advice is don't dwell on it. Life is too short. Other bookies are available and you can still play the ITV 7 and Super 6. |

Unfortunately, Management, I don't play slots or casino but had an email today saying they were also closed to me!

You could write to the Racing Post but all their hard hitting investigative journalists are currently busy writing a fictional series of articles about the possibility of serial losers and addicts having their losing accounts restricted.
They think this is terribly unfair - but for the last 20+ years they have ignored the restriction of accounts. Console yourself by repeatedly by telling yourself: there is no middle ground - capitalism is good and communism is evil. |

If you want to I'd contact the tabloids. Your story has that emotional angle that most don't and tabloids like. Greg Wood at the Guardian is a knowledgeable and good bloke. You prolly don't have a Twitter account but that's often the best method of contact these days

Flabbergasting! What a complete shower they really are.
|
By:
If you want to continue using sky bet, ask any young neriums to open an account in their name then you use it. Not ideal but will give you renewed access.
|
By:
I seriously don't think a recreational punter betting £3 ew on TV races wants to mess around doing that DG!!
|
By:
What else should 1 expect? This is the same firm who were not long ago fined 1 and a half million for trying to tempt self-exluded customers back to them by sending "enticing" promo offers out to their email. All these firms have 1 greedy goal in mind, and that is to suck as much money from the public as possible. If being fair leads to lesser profits..then being rotten, unfair bastards is what they will gladly be. The sooner people realise this fact, the sooner they will have nothing more to do with them.

Agree with HallGreenSpy. I'm flabbergasted that you have appeared on the radar for Skybets restricted list, based on your betting pattern. Is there something else?
|
By:
All you can do is give them bad publicity. Please do this. Skybet are disgusting how they treat customers
|
By:
Absolutely terrible, how they allowed to keep getting their licences renewed? Plus alot of firms now going BOG after 9/10am now and you can only win £25,000 if you get a BOG in your bet, disgusting.

nerium restricted
20 year customer more hobby than outright serious gambler SKYBET should be ASHAMED |
By:
This lunacy has been going on for over 20 years. It should never have started. If you are a "bookie" it is your job to lay bets. 3 ew isn't even a bet and the OP is getting restricted because he's a 10er up over 6 months. What lunatic is making these decisions? They should not be allowed to trade in any fashion and as nothing else has stopped them, the police should be getting involved.
|
By:
I can do nothing but laugh at this, not at the OP but the shambles that Skybet are.
The sad thing is you can see the Skybet Traders at their Management Meeting high fiving each other because they have managed to get another threat to their profit margin off the books. Whoever clicked the button in the Team to restrict this guys account, I hope you struggle to sleep at night ! |

This is the worst case I have ever heard for account restrictions for a fun punter Nerium.
All my accounts are restricted but the bookies don't restrict me as much as others because I am the no1 marker account and it helps the bookies to balance their books thus saving them tens of thousands. So I make money for the bookies just by allowing them to see what I am betting on. When I place my bet within 15 minutes the odds always goes much lower. Anyway this restriction lark is going to bite the horse racing industry hard. I work in a company that employs thousands and as many guys have had their accounts restricted over the last few years all the racing events we used to go together in a minibus have now been cancelled as people prefer to bet online before going to the races. Also many of the young workers who hear that all winners are restricted heavily no long bet. My heart goes out to you Nerium and all I can say is when horse racing tracks start closing down then the bookies /UKGC/Government might take a look. If it is any consolation I spent week sending ID/Utility bills/Passport bank statement/photos etc etc to an online bookie were I had an unrestricted account .When the account was reopened I found the account was restricted to £1 max bet at say evens.A week later their restricted the account to max 1penny.Yes you read right 1 PENNY.If I try to bet 1p each way is says max bet reached reduce your stakes. Nerium 20 year customer my heart goes out to you.I wish I could help you. |
By:
you are the one in need of help.
its tiresome to listen to shiners on rtv going on about a horse being well-backed. knockedback more like. unrealistic but it would be nice if someone on there asked him how much had been laid. |
By:
Skybet only started horse racing betting in 2006, still a horrendous story though, if all true.
|
By:
Thanks for all your replies. To the Dealer, I must then have had the account for 15 years, not 20. The words are all true, why the hell would I make this up?. I have sent the same e-mail to Skybet's CEO, and thanks for reminding me about Greg Wood, one of the very few honest racing journalists. I will def. send him a copy.

No offence intended and good luck.
With all due respect to the sane people on here, there are plenty who have spinned a yarn over the years. |

If only we had a trade paper which had done their utmost over the years to help the people who bought their paper instead of being in a financial bed with their customers " enemy "

Thanks Dealer. I could have opened myself to ridicule on here, but nobody hammered me. My name is Nerium because when I started work in 1960, we had a chap coming round taking bets. I had half a crown EW on Nerium, ridden by Keith Temple-Nidd. Won at 10/1. Apparently your first ever bet is usually a winner!. I'm not whinging, I have Betfair and 4 or 5 other accounts. Any hobby, golf or whatever costs money, so if I broke even I would be happy. As it is, I keep a record of all my bets and this year I am £400 up at moment, so happy days!

I can see where you went wrong nerium...you withdrew money...they hate it.
