Posted this on 'Football' -  obviously ...

However - Interesting to see how the Betting strategists would play this - and Price/(have Priced) it up on here

Punter who put £100 on Liverpool to win quadruple has been given incredible cash-out offer

We’re in the middle of May and Liverpool’s dreams of winning the quadruple are still alive.

On Saturday, they lifted their second trophy of the season as they defeated Chelsea on penalties in the FA Cup final.

Less than 24 hours after their FA Cup triumph, Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League increased dramatically as Manchester City could only draw 2-2 against West Ham.

Jurgen Klopp’s side know that if they beat Southampton on Tuesday, they will go into the final day of the season just one point behind Man City.

The Reds host Wolves next weekend while City face Aston Villa at home.

Then a week after the Premier League campaign ends, they travel to Paris to play Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The odds are still stacked against Liverpool winning all four trophies but it’s certainly possible.

A Punter put £100 on a Liverpool quadruple in August.
At the start of the season in August, an unnamed bettor placed £100 on Liverpool winning all four trophies at Betfair.

The returns? A crazy £367,200.

And following Liverpool’s FA Cup win and Man City’s draw with West Ham, they’re now being offered a cash-out of £22,000.

What would you do?

Hold your nerve for a life-changing amount of money or take the £22k and run?

They will no doubt sleep on the decision ahead of Liverpool’s fixture against Southampton.
The Reds face a trip down south knowing only a win would keep their hopes of winning the league alive.

If Liverpool were to beat Southampton, that £22k offer may well increase even more.

Betfair explained how the cash-out was once £32.4k before Liverpool’s draw with Spurs
It went down to £5.4k after City beat thrashed Wolves.
After the FA Cup win, it stood at £9.2k but rocketed up to £22k after City slipped up at West Ham.

take the cash out and put about 5k on Liverpool to win the PL.

If they lose, they are still copping just under 17k.

In the unlikely outcome of Liverpool winning the PL, that's 22+38 so 60k.

They can then obviously put a portion of the 60k on the CL.

(or variations of the above)

Leaving the chances to the experts on the soccerball forum, I'd wonder what sum of money would make a difference to this punter's life. If he is skint, I'd ask about a partial cashout. £100 stake doesn't sound like he's on his uppers but a lot of jobs will have been lost since the start of the season. Apologies if it is a lady punter.

Otoh, is £367,200 a life-changing sum? Life-enhancing perhaps. If the odd £22,000 does not matter then I'd think about letting it run. 13/2 EPL & 8/15 CL = 11/1-ish so £30,000 would be a fairer cashout but someone's got to pay for the boardroom's prawn sandwiches.
Report impossible123 May 16, 2022 9:01 PM BST
£22k from £100 stake = almost 219/1. I'd take the offer too given Man City is at home against Villa, plus 1 point ahead even if Liverpool wins on tomorrow. What was the cashout when Man City were 2 down at West Ham? Got to be six-figures.

Report impossible123 May 17, 2022 5:27 PM BST
Having come this far at least take stake out. As such I'd take £22k, and put £8k at 21/20 (90mins) and £13.9k at 3/5 (outright) on the Red to win Champions League; Red will need two slip ups by Man City to win the Premier League which is almost unlikely esp with them at home to Villa.

I don’t think he gives a feck about his £100 stake. Your idea is a terrible one imo. Liverpool win the quad and he gets less than £40k for it.

Report BARROWBOY May 18, 2022 1:21 PM BST
The cash out advice is completely dependent on the individual circumstances of the punter.my advice would be different to a millionaire as opposed to someone struggling to pay their gas bill.long bridge has a point though why bother placing that bet if a cash out is likely to be taken.
Report Cider May 18, 2022 1:29 PM BST
In a way. As with all multiples though, if you had that circa £200K in your bank before the last leg, would would stick it all on Liverpool to win the CL. 1/10000 the answer is no.

More than likely it's a Liverpool nut who place a bet out of fun and hope, not a genuine profit making endeavour. Just like those who bet Leicester to win the PL. It has however turned into a (potential) profit making endeavour.
Report impossible123 May 18, 2022 4:17 PM BST
With 200k in the bank it's REAL money. Then prudent to punt accordingly esp after working so "hard and achieving" such an increase in odds (against probabilities); pushing it further could be considered foolish and probably greedy.

If only the last game was after the Champions League Final, to allow hedging.

- and Liverpool STILL HAD to score - as they were Drawing 1-1.

Strewth ! - She could have asked for a PART Cash-Out - say 62% (for a Cash-Out of almost £60,000) ...

- and STILL have been in line for a further  £160,000 (the remaining 38%) - if Liverpool still Won the Quadruple ...

Meaning she would then have had £220,000 in Total

12/1 is interesting. Would have been a serious mitigating factor worth consideration, if I was the punter. I'd take partial/cashout then hedge. The $64k question would there be liquidity to absorb £10k on City to win?
Report impossible123 May 23, 2022 7:02 PM BST
26? Definitely I'd accept partial/cashout. Then hedged. It's history now. I hope the punter got some financial reward from the bet.

Absolutely NO Chance of getting - "some financial reward" - impossible .... when you read this article ...
---------------------

When the games kicked off on Sunday the drama started instantly as Liverpool went down 1-0 inside the first couple of minutes.

At half-time though, the cash out offer rocketed to a huge £62,371 as Man City trailed 1-0 and Liverpool had equalised to make it 1-1.

But with 45 minutes of nerve-wracking action left, still no cash out came.

Villa made it 2-0 at the Etihad in the 69th minute while Liverpool were still looking to find the go-ahead goal against Wolves.

At 5.34pm the cash out offer hit an all time high of £95,000.

But it all came crashing down as City scored three in the space of five minutes to pull off another dramatic comeback on the final day of the Premier League.

Although it looked so likely with a two-goal lead at the Etihad and Liverpool on the cusp of a winner, it takes some faith in your team (and Aston Villa) to deny a £95k pay out – something she said she was always going to do.

“I’ve never bet before so it was all about the feeling, really… I’m taking it right to the end… I believe they can do it. It’s a magical moment!” she said.

But with City turning things aroundshe was left nothing.

I may be incorrect but I imagine the fanatical support that fans have for their club( I suffered from this in the 80's before becoming clear of the malaise) might have been a factor in not cashing out .....Most of us regular punters would have bailed out at 22K or 95K ....respect for playing to the end.
