He said there was a setback, he was barely ready for today, he was workmanlike at home and at this stage after one race he had no idea if he could progress to be a Derby horse.

Interesting that they are running White Wolf in this considering it has only won a 2 bob race at Southwell, not the sort of race to run in just for the run. Must have shown something better at home. With question marks over some of the others, at odds over 20 is worth a little each way interest

Kingmax should like the step up in trip…on breeding. His mom was a decent enough stayer.

Backed him at 10/1 eachway 2 places without Desert A and El B.

Not a bad a run last time in the Craven either…kept grinding away and just pipped Star of India for 4th.

Thought he was a nice price without the top2 who look okay to me. Kind of hoping Desert wins by 10 on the steel because it’s an underwhelming derby so far.

Agree with the original post. Desert Crown  all hype so far. rather go with the proven form.
El Bodegon Stands out on form beat the current fav for the derby Stone age. Has group 1 form dont see the ground being an issue.
Looks fit to me in the paddock. All Aboard!

You'll get better than 2/1 on the day without sleepless nights worrying whether you're going to wake up to the dreaded early morning gallop headline.

He is the most likely winner, and I would say he has more of a gear than Stone Age, but huge difference between winning an ordinary trial and a Derby. Kingscote is an average jock in a very average weighing room, and this horse is also seemingly out running a pretty ordinary pedigree. I would sooner look for something each way at 20's on the day, than back this horse at 2's.

Pedigree seems fine to me.
(Also, almost £300,000 price tag not to be sniffed at.)

Pretty wise move differentdrum , you'll get at least one extra place as a concession on the day as well , probably an extra two places somewhere.

Hannon ran a fto filly at Lingfield on Tuesday evening who cost 300,000. She looked horrible

I didn't like the way the horse hung right in the straight. That could be an issue if it tries to do the same thing up the camber at Epsom.

No doubt Desert Crown won well nevertheless, I'm not convinced he's The Derby winner.

I think O'Brien would be pleased given he'd the 3rd Bluegrass 5 3/4l behind.

I love watching Stoute being interviewed.  He is so courteous yet steely, so "why use ten words when two will do" and so clearly dismissive yet not verbally so of the unprofessional badgering which he has to endure.  That clown Bell asked the same question in a different form three times post-race and he got the usual courteous short-shrift from the master.
Some horse by the way.  "Lovely temperament" he quite tellingly said.  Perfect for Epsom then on Derby Day.
